I don’t recommend kibble but if you do feed it this is important along with only buying a bag that will last 2-3 weeks

Is Your Dog's Kibble Still Safe?

Did you know most pet food makers spend more on packaging than the contents? That bag is designed to keep oxygen out because once air gets in, the fats in kibble can go rancid.

Kibble lasts only 2-3 weeks after opening. When exposed to air, it reacts with chemicals in the food, causing a loss in nutritional value, and potentially allowing toxic mold and bacteria to grow. Rancid fats can destroy essential vitamins, leading to deficiencies and serious health issues like malnutrition, hair loss, liver and kidney disease, and even cancer.

Pro Tip: If you store food in a bin, keep it in the original bag, squeeze out the air, and seal it tightly.

📣Friendly reminder, Garlic is not toxic!!

In Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, garlic is indicated for Food Stagnation, cancer, diabetes, and asthma. It is used to Warm the Middle and promote both digestion and healthy intestinal flora. Most commonly, garlic is used for natural prevention of parasites like fleas and ticks.

Garlic can be beneficial for both dogs and cats in appropriate doses. I use fresh crushed cloves to get the full benefits of garlic.
🐱 For cats: 1/4 clove (crushed) daily, 3-4 days per week.
🐶 For dogs: 1/2 clove (crushed) per 20 pounds of body weight daily, with a maximum of 3 cloves. Best to take at least 1 day per week off.
*Please make sure to note the difference between a clove and a bulb/head of garlic.

Not recommended for puppies and kittens. Long term use is contraindicated in pets with vision issues. If your pet has a history of hemolytic anemia, it would be safer to avoid use of garlic in any form.

I have older dogs. 2 of them struggle with arthritis. I have them in NSAIDS because I - at this stage have not found anything to make them comfortable . I add gabapentin at night because one has dementia and it helps with sleep and pain. I also add a turmeric product Curaphen which I also take. Here is an interesting article. I’m going to try this product.

I always recommend non-chemjcal floor cleaners. Remember your dog can smell hundreds of times more than you and their nose is inches from your floor. So every time you mop you are administering toxic substances to you and your dog.

Here is a link I found that I like.

Leave the commercial floor cleaners behind. Make a simple yet effective homemade floor cleaner that will get your floors sparkling clean.

Yeast is generally seen as brown discoloration, may feel greasy, and has a ye**ty odor, particularly in the ears. Yeast overgrowth happens commonly in pets with allergies and in pets treated repeatedly with antibiotics. The antibiotics kill off the good bacteria along with the bad bacteria. The good bacteria keep the yeast under control. When the body's natural defenses are low (steroids, Atopica, Apoquel, antibiotics) the yeast will grow.

Whenever I see a dog or cat with chronic yeast infections, the first thing I look at is the diet. Poor quality diets filled with carbohydrates commonly contribute to yeast overgrowth. Chronic use of steroids and antibiotics weakens the immune system and allows invasion of the yeast, which is an opportunistic infection. Most veterinarians and pet owners treat these infections with more antibiotics (which have no effect against yeast!) and steroids. These may help short term, but as soon as the medication runs out, the infection returns. If your pet has chronic ear infections, you need to look at the diet and make changes.

Nexgard Combo For cats.

You got to be kidding! First - why do we need a product to kill fleas and tapeworms all in one? If there are no fleas there are no tapeworms.

Cats rarely get intestinal parasites and if they do they are usually feral or close to feral and won’t get this anyway.

This is full of poison. Do not use.

These chemicals are so toxic, they were banned - or at least restricted - for agricultural use. Yet the year after the complete ban of one of these chemicals, massive amounts were sold for the domestic pet market. Now, pets and the environment are paying the steep price.

For those of you who are interested. If you are on auto-fill for Chewys, you can message or video with veterinarians who act as consultants. They are not a replacement for your vet but if you get home and you see your dog is Ill but all vets are closed, you can ask them if you need to go to the ER. They can make recommendations too for supplements etc and recommend questions you can ask your regular vet. It’s all about being informed.

Again, it is NOT a replacement for your vet but maybe provide you will a little peace of mind on what to do.

Another mast cell tumor diagnosed. We diagnose them almost daily now. I have been in practice on and off for 4 decades and I have never seen this many. Environment, genetics, diet etc I don't know for sure but I would say diet and environment.

I beg people to please look at how your dog food is made. Know that most brands are at least 50% carbohydrates and carbohydrates increase inflammation in the body. That causes tumors, arthritis and a host of other diseases. It is so processed that its unrecognizable, its made with mostly grains including corn which we all know is GMO. Its sprayed with fats to make it palatable and which goes rancid soon after you open the bag. Its disgusting. There are a few decent brands, Orijens, Farmina but for the most part not good. Sure some dogs do great on it and look great until they die of kidney disease or tumors or just can't walk anymore due to arthritis.

Many people say its too expensive, I can't be bothered and those I can't help. Some just fall prey to the advertisements and think they are feeding good foods. They are more open to learning. If you want to learn more go to catinfo.org fr cat info and go to Dr Judy Morgan or Dr Karen Beckers websites to learn about dogs.

There are many others too. Even if you just add some real food to their dry food you are improving their diet. Vegan? Dr Pitcairns new book has recipes you AND your pet can enjoy.
