I’m so sad that my gardens and flower beds have gone by the wayside this year. I hope to make it better next year. Health and other things caused me a little break, but let me tell you. These gorgeous mums never cease to amaze me.

Last year I fed the chickens pumpkins, the leftover seeds decided to volunteer to grow back this year. Also, one cucumber plant is volunteering to grow from last years seeds. But I’m exited I just throw out some MILPA from my friend Rebekah at Buckeye Ranch . It’s a little late but I wanted to try it. Google the MILPA method. Let’s see what happens.
Today I had my hands in the soil, and it felt so good. I usually grow my plants from seeds in my greenhouse and start them in January, but my health was a wild mess this year and I just couldn’t do it. However, I’ve been having literal withdraws from not having a garden. Today I went down there and cleaned the weeds out of 2 of the beds (I have more to go) and I planted a few tomato plants my friend gave me. I noticed my Dill seeded last year so I still have that, a lone cucumber is growing from last year, and I have 5 pumpkin plants in the middle of my yard where the chickens feasted on leftover pumpkins. It feels so good to have something going. Oh and the one potato that my dog planted. 😂.
I posted a few months ago joking that our dog Ozzy wanted to be a gardener; because I found a potato that he carried outside and put in my bag of potting soil. Well, now he did carry it out to the dirt, and that sucker is growing. 😂
Spending the day outside today. With the heavy rain we got, the chicken coop was an absolute mess. Got it all cleaned up. Also look out our frizzle chicken!! The meat chickens (white ones- Cornish cross) are getting closer to butcher day. And I have volunteer pumpkins growing in my yard thanks to feeding leftover pumpkins to the chickens last year! Lol
The chickens got in my flowerbed today. They usually can’t get in because a gate, but they tilled up the ground for me . I should let them loose in all my gardens lol

Thanks to our friends Rebecca & Garrett at Buckeye Ranch !!! We have 8 Cornish Hens they’re teaching us to butcher in a couple of months. Ronnie has done this before but this so my first time. About to stock the freezer!!
Right now we have 11 hens, and today we got 10 eggs. Pretty good ratio!!

I have sprouts! Several months behind my usual schedule, but they’re coming in!
I will be taking these beautifies out to the greenhouse later. I’ll keep them in the sunshine until I have time to walk down and make sure my greenhouse heater, and thermostat are good to go!
Don’t have much energy this gardening season, and I’m sad that I’m months behind. I usually start in January. But I started tomatoes and cucumbers today. ❤️

[this is our first year we actually feel anxious about it because last year we were clueless and had no idea when they were even due so we weren’t having that anxious and excited feeling quite the same] And the other day I was telling my friend that they’re just making me anxious. And she said it’s kind of like how the Bible describes us being “anxious for” or “longing for” heaven. Just like people are anxious for and long for births, we long for Heaven, our home, in the same way. I told her that I for sure understood that illustration!!
