Drying some herbs for tea. The first is Moldavian Dragonhead, something I’ve never grown before. The flowers look to me like little laughing dragons. They think it’s funny that I always dry a bunch of herbs for tea and then forget about them.
The others are calendula and chamomile. For little flowers like chamomile, I like to lay another drying screen on top to prevent them blowing around the dehydrator.

The gloomy, drizzly weather isn’t doing much for our peppers, but this candy roaster squash is loving it. We got these seeds from our neighbors at a seed exchange last fall. I may have erred when determining optimal planting location…

We got fancy and rigged up a structure so that we could string trellis the tomatoes this year. Usually we use bent cattle panels secured with garden staples, which work but are kind of a pain to manage.
Hopefully this will give the ‘maters more air circulation and reduce the perennial fungus. We think it looks cool too!

Some fresh-picked greens for breakfast eggs. Garlic scape, purple orach, arugula, spinach, Swiss chard, perpetual spinach (another chard) and sorrel. Oh, and a sprig from a walking onion.

I have had a lot of success with these LED lights, and this is an easy method of passive hydroponics. Great company too. Give them a look if you are interested in indoor seed starting and/or indoor gardening.

Had some bonus cabbage this season, so I made . Also got to use some carrots we grew, and garlic.
First time I’ve managed to make two rounds in a year, so that feels good.
We’ll see how far this batch carries us. I eat it on my eggs for breakfast everyday. 🤤☀️

We’re proud of this salsa because we finally made it solely out of our garden produce. This first year we had the tomatoes but had to buy peppers and onions and cilantro. The second year, had to buy onions and cilantro. This year, all ours! This first round is extra thick and spicier than usual too.

Probably picked over 1,000 squash bug eggs off my zukes and butternut so far. 👹Plus a lot of squash bugs and cucumber beetles. 👹👹The proactivity is working (sort of with the cuke beetles), but next year will be exploring more resistant varieties, row covers, repellent companions plants, and trap crops!

This season trying to be better about filling in space in the with additional plants. Made a weak attempt last year but a lot didn’t germinate, probably because of temperature. So, trying via grow lights!
Also putting out some starts. Planted them by seed a few weeks ago but the slugs nipped off the tasty cotyledons! We’ll see how they transplant.

The meadow is ready to pop! This is year 2 and we are glad to see that it’s coming back. The don’t mind either! 🐝 🦋 The meadow took out a big swath of lawn that we no longer need to mow (just knock it down once in the fall), and we plan to add more sections. We got the mix from .
