We are continuously humbled and grateful to the good hearted folks who support spay and neuter of our companion animals, but especially our outdoor cats. We just received notice that Boxer Bread Co. is donating proceeds from the August sale of their bread to Purple Cat people. Their wonderful donation will help to spay and neuter outdoor colony cats and cats that belong to folks who cannot afford it.

If you love bread, and you are in the Hastings area, you should check out their page. They actually deliver fresh homemade bread that’s still warm! They are located in Hastings and their deliver area is somewhat local (Hudson, River Falls, Ellsworth).

The menu is extensive and it looks like they have many delicious sourdough options.

Purple Cat People, Inc 501(c)3 has been blessed with some very generous donors over the past year. I don’t usually call them out by name for fear they will be solicited. However, Patricia is using her business to raise funds for spaying and neutering, and I don’t see how it would hurt to send people to her business.

In the last six months alone, Patty's Flowers for Felines has sponsored almost 50 colony cats for spay-neuter. These cats not only get sterilized through Purple Cat Mobile Veterinary Clinic, but they are Rabies vaccinated, Distemper vaccinated, and ear tipped (so that everyone knows they are cared for).

Spaying and neutering our outdoor cats prevent countless numbers of unwanted kittens that would go on to live a short sad life and die a painful death.

We hope you consider visiting Patty's. Subscriptions are closed at this time but you can purchase flowers and pick up pre-payed wraps or bouquets at Angels' Pet World in Hudson on Monday's (picked up between 3pm-6pm). Next spring sign up for a subscription for monthly fresh flower bouquets from Patty's Flowers for Felines in Hammond, WI. She has been wonderful to us!

You can also donate directly to Purple Cat People, Inc. Less than 5% of all donations go for administration fees and the other 95% goes directly to spaying and neutering cats in Northwest Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota.

Patty's Flowers for Felines

I just read through the comments from a recent post concerning the use of donated funds at a large non-profit humane society, who also does high-volume spay-neuter, in the twin city area. I see and I hear all the frustration from our TNR friends in this area. It is tough running a high-volume low-cost veterinary clinic and still have enough money left over to pay staff a competitive wage. I don’t know the details of how this humane society runs. My own experience is that it requires talented committed staff that work super efficiently and who respect each other. Charging a bit more for the pet cats certainly makes a huge difference. (Also, our staff is paid through the for-profit Purple Cat Vet LLC.)

I looked for Purple Cat People, Inc on the nonprofit profit finder link and could not find them listed. I believe that’s because our total donation intake is below the requirement to file a certain way for the IRS. In any case, I included what I have on our website. To all my friends that use Purple Cat Vet for their spay and neuter services, and especially for their TNR colonies, I want you to know that we are transparent, and 95% of all donations go directly to the cats. We look forward to offering $25 surgeries again soon.

Please help get the word out that we do have Purple Cat People, Inc. as a nonprofit side of our Purple Cat Vet business. We would love to bring in more donations and help more of our TNR friends.

More $25 surgeries available!!

Thank you everybody for sharing our posts and for your donations! We have received some very generous donations recently, which has allowed us to continue our $25 cat spay-neuter promotion.

Before I give you the details, we want to give a big thank you to our friends at Stray Feral Rescue. If you know Sue Birch or others from their volunteers and board, please let them know how much we appreciate them!

We also have a few very generous private donors. We won’t tag them here, but they know who they are and we could not do this without them! (Susan, Jill, Jodi, Rebecca, Judy, Sherry, Sheri, Amy, Julie, Meghan)

Here are the details:

If you have a colony of cats of at least five or more that are not spayed or neutered, we can get them surgery for $25 each. Purple Cat Mobile Veterinary Clinic does our surgeries
out of either their Baldwin, WI location or their Eau Claire, WI location. We are in Baldwin on Tuesdays and Thursdays and in Eau Claire on Wednesdays and every other Friday. We do have distemper vaccine requirements on the friendly ones, but Purple Cat Vet will help you get your friendly cats vaccinated very simply and for low cost. Feral cats that cannot be handled do not require the vaccine.

Additionally, if you have stray cats outside, and you are live-trapping them only one or two at a time, Purple Cat vet can also sterilize them for you.

Nominate Purple Cat People

Hello PURPLE CAT PEOPLE !

I'm officially going to try to get a grant from My Giving Circle. It's based on votes. You can look into it. It's legit 🙂

Our goal is to get enough grants and donations in 2024/2025 to be able to offer $25 ear tip Surgeries for EVERY COLONY CAT AND EVERY TNR CAT.

Some of you have already been very generous donors and thank you! I don't discount that at all! There's just so FERAL/FARM/COLONY CATS!

If you type on the link below, it takes you to a page where you can give $25 and register 2,500 votes for purple cat people. It sounds silly but that is their system.

$25 is a lot to some people and I'm not sending this in expectation that you will donate. I believe on Facebook there's a way to donate for free. So if you can't do $25, no big deal. But watch for it on Facebook where you vote for free.

Thank you for all your support whether it's TNR for colonies, spending your time transporting animals and using your personal vehicle getting it all stinky, speaking kindly and positively about purple cat to your friends, and of course, donating financially to our nonprofit purple cat people. WHAT IF …

What if Purple Cat People (non-profit arm of Purple Cat Vet) was able to do even lower cost spay/neuter surgeries for TNR cats? What if we could charge $25 for EVERY TNR CAT and not just a select few?

We recently signed up for MyGivingCircle Charities as a way to get more donations. Does anyone have experience with this organization? We haven’t advertised our membership yet-we are a little skeptical.

Please comment on any experience you have with this organization, good and bad. We would also love to hear about other grants that might apply to Purple Cat People and their goal of making cat spay and neuter affordable.

Today we met a wonderful man who drove TWO HOURS to Purple Cat in order to purchase Distemper vaccines. He’s vaccinating his colony of cats to get them prepared for their upcoming Purple Cat appointment. He’s also borrowing 20 live traps and raising money to get his cats spayed and neutered through Purple Cat.

Of course, when we have a client who puts this much effort into getting all of his cats fixed, we want to help. Because of some wonderful donors, we are able to help him with the cost. 

If you have a colony of cats (10 or more), and you are willing to put as much effort and hard work as this man is-vaccinating cats prior (if handleable), finding/borrowing live traps and carriers, trapping them 2 days ahead of time, taking off from work to bring them to our clinic, preparing a warm place for them to stay for 24 hours after surgery—-then Purple Cat People can help you with the cost of surgeries.  

We know this is a lot of work.

COLONY CATS.

This particular opportunity is ONLY for cats from a group of AT LEAST 15 INTACT CATS. We are targeting farms with cat populations out of control. If you have less than 15 cats needing spay and neuter services you do not qualify for $25 surgeries. BUT please check out Purple Cat Mobile Veterinary Clinic for inexpensive surgeries ($65-$85 per surgery).

WHAT: $25 spay/neuter cat surgeries. So each surgery is $25 regardless if they are getting ear tipped or not. For cats that are getting ear tipped, the rabies vaccine and the distemper vaccine will be included in the $25. Must have at least 15 cats getting surgery.

FREE CAT VACCINES TO FARMS PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST
Purple Cat People is the non-profit sister to Purple Cat Vet. We are committed to making farm cats and colony cats healthy. We are slowly increasing our funds available to offer Free and discounted sterilization surgeries and vaccinations. Please consider donating to Purple Cat People this holiday season. We currently have funds available to vaccinate three farms who’s cats are not currently vaccinated. specifically, this is the distemper or the three-way vaccine. It prevents herpes virus, calici virus, and panleukopenia. These are the viruses that can caused a nasty upper respiratory infections and ulcerated eyes as well as sudden death in groups of cats. If your farm cats are not currently vaccinated they need to be. Purple Cat People can supply the vaccines FREE OF CHARGE but you would be responsible for administering them. The first three farms to contact me will be able to get the vaccines. I have videos and written instructions to explain how to give the vaccines. Please know that you will need at least two people to administer the vaccines. If the cats are feral and not friendly then it’s not possible to give the vaccines. We do not want anybody getting bitten or scratched. These must be friendly farm cats in order for this to work. Check out these happy cats that Tanya Borg with Farm Feral Stray had spayed/neutered and re-homed. Purple Cat and Tanya have worked together for the last three years and together have I’ve been responsible for spaying and neutering hundreds of cats in the Saint Croix county area of NW Wisconsin.
