Times flies so quickly, then I realise how long it's been since I last updated...I guess because there's not much to say.

I hope you're all staying as safe as you can, and please know how much we're all thinking of you.

We were supposed to have a volunteer vet a week or so ago, but unfortunately he cancelled. I understand, but still disappointing.

I posted in the Sword of Iron FB group, and that's helped share our project. I also had a couple of enquiries from people who aren't vets but are interested in helping out at the shelter which is very welcome.

That's it for now!

Sorry it's been so long since my last update. Unfortunately there's not a lot going on at the moment.

We have a few vets looking at the end of the year, but sadly nothing before that at the moment.

I'm going to be advertising for vets again, so we'll see how that goes.

Hope you're all keeping well.

This is a new fundraiser I've launched. Can you please share it on your social media platforms?

Help Us End Suffering: Please Donate to Support our Cat Spay/Neuter Project

We are currently raising money for 2 very important pieces of equipment needed for our spay/neuter project.

The first is a monitor that measures oxygen levels during surgery. This lets the vet know there’s a problem before he or she sees the cat isn’t breathing. Cost: 2300NIS, which is roughly $619 US/$846 Canadian/575 euros/£493 UK

The second is a baby scale. Knowing a cat’s weight is important as a way to more accurately medicate and anesthetize them. Cost: roughly $150 US/$205 Canadian/139 euros/£120 UK

As I mentioned, I posted looking for volunteers yesterday in the 2 vet FB groups I always use. The number of hateful comments I received about Israel was shocking. I immediately notified the admins and in seconds the comments were removed. They were amazing but those vets were disgusting!

I did get some interest which is good.

I'm always so happy when I can post an update...it means something's happening!!

Despite the completely understandable cancellations by vets a few months ago, and the reluctance of others to come at this time...again understandable, I decided to post about our program in the 2 FB vet volunteer groups I recruit from. Why not, you never know!!

I got a lot of likes and some emails expressing interest. We'll see if anything comes of this, and I will of course keep you posted.

I took this picture the last time I was in Israel, which was too many years ago.

Even though war rages on and the lunatics keep trying to kill us, we're continuing to fix the feral cats in Jerusalem. Donations are always welcome, and even if you aren't able to contribute, sharing this post and raising awareness of what we do is equally as important!

I want to ask how you're all doing, but it sounds like such a stupid question. How can anyone be feeling when lunatics have devoted their lives to destroying Israel and killing all of us. I just hope you're safe.

On a happier note, the fixing of cats continues, and here's a picture of what preventing suffering looks like!!

The last time I posted I was talking about how excited I was to go and volunteer in Israel. Well...for the first time in my life, I had to cancel a trip due to illness.

I didn't have a cold but had an eye infection (never happened before), an ear infection (not since I was a baby), coughing a lot (never happens) and throat on fire (only when I had covid).

Anyway, most of that cleared up by departure date, but I was left with blocked ears so obviously I couldn't fly.

We will re-schedule.

During that time I dropped the ball when it comes to promoting the program, so this is me picking up that ball.

You probably all know about the FB group Sword of Iron for volunteering in Israel. Chaya posts looking for volunteers for the shelter and a few have gone to help, so I think that's very exciting news.

Will update again soon!

Hi everyone!

Here's what's going on behind the scenes.

We have a vet scheduled June 2-6
2 are interested July/Aug
1 is pretty much confirmed for later in Aug
3 are considering Nov

It's much too early for anyone to commit in terms of buying plane tickets, but all being well they're looking forward to coming

Don't forget about my "Get Fixed" campaign, which is just another arm of the fundraising I'm already doing. We're trying to help feeders who give so much of their own money to feed the cats, but can't afford the cost of having them fixed. Money we raise will help us ensure as many cats as possible get fixed, no matter what.

As always I encourage you to share as many posts as you can, and help us spread the word of what we're accomplishing.

We never lose sight of our mission to end suffering.

I'm excited to announce a new arm of our project.

I came up with the idea yesterday, because we have a couple of very experienced high volume vets interested in helping, and we need enough cats to keep them busy. While we are limited by space, I don't want to be limited by money.

Welcome to “Get Fixed” – an initiative of Vets for JSPCA Israel.

We’re raising money to cover the cost of spay/neuter surgeries, for some colony caretakers that don’t have the funds.

It’s important to note, most feeders care for multiple cats in their area (some even going further afield), and spend a lot of money on food. This means they often don’t have the ability to pay for many surgeries (if any), so while the cats are being fed, they are still breeding.

This campaign will help ensure cats still “get fixed” no matter what.

Each surgery costs 170 shekels which is roughly $47USD - $63CDN - £37 - €43

Any amount will help, and we are so grateful.

Good morning and time for an update!!

I emailed every vet that ever expressed an interest in our program, to get an update on their level of interest. I don't want a false sense of hope, seeing all the names of people who will never come!

I've heard from a few so far. Some have asked to be removed from the list, others are looking into flights.

So far we have...
1 vet confirmed for a few days in June
A couple of vets and maybe vet techs end July/beg Aug
1 towards end of Aug/beg Sept
2 in Nov who were originally scheduled for this past Oct
1 who recently returned from a trip to Israel, so considering coming the end of the year

2-3 others who are looking into dates/flights/insurance

Now would be a good time to share our fundraiser. We don't want to turn anyone away due to lack of funds. https://gofund.me/c99c9077

Donations can also be made directly to the JSPCA, but you must write it's for Vets for JSPCA Israel. Message me and I'll send you the details, and let them know to expect your very kind donation.

Thanks everyone!

We never forget who we're trying to help!

It's very important to show pictures of what we're trying to accomplish, in order to add legitimacy to this project.

Since I'm not in Israel, I have to rely on others to provide those pictures for this page as well as my GoFundMe page.

When you can, I would love pictures of the feral cats you come across, and pictures or short videos of them being trapped, dropped off at the shelter and released.

Thanks!

This picture is poor quality, but I took it of a cat I fed outside Givat Hatachmoshet.

We had an offer of help from an amazing vet, sadly the timing doesn't work because of Jewish holidays, and she's not free until the fall so we'll see. It's frustrating because she's the only vet who was fine going during a war because she's worked in many challenging environments.

We do have other vets who are still interested, but not feeling comfortable at the moment which is totally understandable.

I wanted to share some good news. Today 17 cats and 3 dogs were fixed. There was some extra help in the clinic which is great news.

I'm so glad to hear that even though our vets weren't able to come (although they will!!), some surgeries are still taking place.

Apologies for the poor quality pic.

Hi everyone,

Obviously our program is on hold. All our vets for Oct and Nov have cancelled. We do have a few scheduled for Dec, but I have no idea if they'll be able to or want to go so we'll have to see.

In the meantime I'm taking a step back. We don't run the program in Jan and Feb, and we already have lots of interest for March. With everything going on in Israel at the moment, there would be no point to advertise for help now.

I just want you all to know, we're so heartbroken and do what we can to offer support. We go to rallies, donate money, buy supplies and write to universities and other entities that allow hate speech. We say tehilim and write to families who have suffered unimaginable loss to show them they're not alone.

I hope you're all staying safe.

I will never give up on our spay/neuter initiative, I will be back publicising it when things calm down.

Am Yisrael Chai.

I'm sorry, I should have taken a moment to check in and see how everyone is doing.

There's no excuse, but I've been glued to my phone since this nightmare started and haven't been able to focus on anything. We're so heartbroken for what you're all going through, feeling helpless but doing what we can to offer support.

Please do your best to take care of yourselves, and I know there's nothing I can say that will help.

Am Yisrael Chai.

Is anyone here a vet tech in Jerusalem or know of one? Asking for a friend interested in studying and working in Jerusalem.

I'd love new videos for IG please! It could be cats you see when walking around Jerusalem and cats you care for. Thanks!

About Us

מספיק! Enough

It's time to end the suffering of Israel's street cats!

Anyone who travels to Israel has seen it: Approximately 2 million feral cats are roaming around the country. In Jerusalem alone, estimates put the number at around 200,000.

Many live on the streets by the good graces of anyone who feeds them, but the majority of Israel's cats suffer and die on the streets from starvation, disease, hyperthermia (heat stroke) and even intentional abuse.
