🎃 Halloween Safety Tips for Pet Parents 🎃
Halloween can be a fun but busy time, so it’s important to take a few simple steps to ensure the safety and comfort of your pets, guests, and yourself.
🐾 Not all pets love the spotlight. If your furry friend prefers a quiet space, consider setting them up in a calm environment with a frozen food puzzle or Kong to keep them occupied.
🐶🐱 Does your pet get anxious with the sound of the doorbell or knocks? Instead of letting the noise trigger their stress, you can greet trick-or-treaters at the door to minimize those sounds. If your pet’s anxiety is more serious, talk to your vet about potential medications to help manage their stress during big events.
Remember, it’s perfectly okay to stay home or not participate all together if your pet isn’t comfortable around guests or other animals. Keeping things calm can help avoid any unwanted outcomes.
Stay safe and enjoy the spooky season! 👻

It was such a pleasure welcoming Chloe and Mia to the KADO family! Despite being completely blind, Chloe eagerly anticipated my visits. Mia, who’s living with cancer, always greeted me with joy and loved our play time together. These two are truly amazing!

When choosing a pet sitter or dog walker, it’s important to remember that not every pet lover knows how to keep your pets and home safe while you’re at work or away. Just like you wouldn’t hire a random person to fix your plumbing or electrical issues, you shouldn’t hire someone without doing your research to care for your pets. Before bringing anyone into your home, consider these key factors: Are they insured and bonded? Do they have reviews or references? Are they involved in local organizations or participate in continuing education? Have they earned any certifications?
As a professional pet sitter and dog walker with over 10 years in business and a lifetime of experience, I may not be perfect, but I continually invest in my skills through education and certifications. Choosing the right caregiver for your pets is important, so if something feels off or too good to be true, trust your instincts. I’m always here to answer any questions—don’t hesitate to reach out!
There’s never a dull moment with Maple, Cake, Daisy Mae, Stella, and Sterling! We had a blast together—ate some veggies and, of course, plenty of playtime!

Attention Pet Parents! 🐾
I've been receiving more requests lately for dog sitting services while you're away, and I truly appreciate you thinking of me! However, I currently don't offer this service.
To help you find a trusted sitter, here are two great resources where you can locate professional pet sitters:
What does being a member of
Pet Sitters International (PSI) mean to me?
Since 1994, PSI has been the world’s largest educational organization for professional pet sitters, and being a member has been invaluable to me. Through PSI, I earned my Certified Professional Pet Sitter (CPPS) designation, connected with fellow pet sitters from around the world, and continually expanded my knowledge through their educational webinars and conferences.
I’m grateful to be part of a community dedicated to learning more about pet care, home security, and safety for both pets and sitters. Thank you, Beth, and the entire PSI team for all your hard work and support!

To help families with pets affected by the hurricane, PSI has created a wish list. Please donate if you can. Thank you!
PSI members (and friends!) are THE BEST 🐾
**Be sure to check out the video in comments to see the donations that arrived to PSI President Beth Stultz-Hairston’s home this weekend.**
If you would still like to donate pet food/supplies to help western North Carolina, we'd love to have you place your order from the wish list in the next day so that we can have the bulk of the donations here by mid-week so that we can deliver later this week (donations will be taken to 2 different counties).
PSI cannot express our heartfelt gratitude enough. Thank you all 💟
As of tonight (10/6), the following have been received or are in route:

Why does my dog insist on sniffing every blade of grass during our walks?
Just like we enjoy catching up on social media or reading the news, dogs gather information about their world through their noses. Sniffing allows them to learn about their environment, other animals, and even the latest "gossip" in the neighborhood. So, next time you're out walking with your furry friend, let them enjoy their sniffing session (under your watchful eye, of course)!
Keep your pet's food fresh and easy to identify by storing it in the original bag and placing it in a pet food container. This simple step ensures you always know what food your pet is eating, making it easier when it’s time to restock—perfect for you and your pet sitter!
As a dog owner and professional dog walker, I have encountered a wide range of dog walking equipment. With numerous options available, selecting the best one for you and your dog can be challenging. It is crucial to ensure that each dog is properly fitted and comfortable with their walking equipment. Today, I will highlight the equipment I prefer when walking dogs. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave them in the comments.
Did you know it is recommended to have one more litter box than the number of cats in your home? For instance, if you have two cats, you should have three litter boxes. Additionally, ensure they are scooped daily.
Stay tuned for more tips!
Living with a diabetic pet? I can help assist you in creating a health plan tailored to your cat or dog’s needs!
Just like in people, our canine friends can experience allergic reactions. Whether it’s from food, insect bites, or environmental, having Benadryl (Diphenhydramine 25 mg) on hand can be lifesaving. However, it is important that you speak with your veterinarian before administering any medication to your dog.
Dosage can vary based on your dog’s weight and condition. A typical recommended dose of Benadryl is 1 mg per pound of body weight. While generally safe, dogs may experience side effects such as dry mouth and drowsiness. Always monitor your pup after administering Benadryl and contact your vet with any questions or concerns.
Hydrogen Peroxide (3 %) is a useful first aid antiseptic that every dog parent should have on hand. Should he/she eat something that they shouldn’t, your vet might have you induce vomiting before going to the clinic. A typical dose is 0.5-1.0 mL per pound for dogs-always check with your vet first before administering.
*DO NOT GIVE HYDROGEN PEROXIDE TO CATS. CALL YOUR VETERINARIAN IMMEDIATELY.
Pet Poison Helpline: https://www.petpoisonhelpline.com/pet-tips/why-you-should-not-induce-vomiting-in-cats/
Hydrogen peroxide (3%) can be used as a first aid antiseptic or to induce vomiting in dogs, Benadryl can be used if your pup is having a minor allergic reaction, and honey or Karo syrup is used if pets are experiencing hypoglycemic symptoms. Contact your veterinarian for instructions and to find out if they need to be seen.
Loving this gorgeous weather we are having! How about you? Let me know in the comments.
Friendly reminder!
If your pet has been recently diagnosed or is living with a chronic condition, know that I am here to provide assistance. As someone who has dealt with similar situations before (diabetes, hyperthyroidism, etc.) I understand the challenges ahead but believe we can find ways forward together by working collaboratively.
