AlpinePup Mondays in Loudon 11/27/23!

Today we had Stella, Ditto, Zoey, Rolfe, Sean, Phoenix, Petro, and Roe!

We trail ran, expecting there to be some snow and ice on the trails, but it was a gorgeous day (and we could’ve been biking!). Next week we will either bike, or work on running with weighted packs and adding more obedience in.

AlpinePup Monday in Loudon 11/20/23!

Today we had Stella, Petro, Zoey, Rolf, Roe, King, Phoenix, Ditto, and Zero for a trail running day!

We worked on down stays, recall, loose heeling, positions, appropriate play, and more!

Monday, 11/06/2023 AlpinePup Adventures in Loudon with Peace of Mind Canine Training pups!

Today we had Ditto, Zoey, Stella, Rolfe, Phoenix, Petro, Zero, Loca, and Roe out for trail running and trail obedience! Next week we’ll mountain bike, and it’s only a matter of time before we’re cross-country skiing!

The short summary of each dog’s adventure from today is:

Ditto: We worked on managing arousal and over-stimulation while in a really exciting environment (on trails with other dogs) as well as lots of obedience that Ditto uses in his Mondioring training!

Zoey: We’re tightening up a “with me” cue on trails still, as well as managing some excitement around other dogs, and working on sit stays + recall!

Stella: Last week, we started to teach a “mush” command to cue Stella to pull into a joring harness. This will be used for sled-pulling as well as potentially skijoring with me this winter! We also worked on stopping to sniff less while running and instead stopping to sniff during cued “free time”.

Rolfe: This was Rolfe’s first Monday with us! We worked on socializing with other dogs, “with me” for off-leash running, as well as some basic obedience positions and crate manners.

Phoenix: Phoenix knows SO much but we don’t often do obedience on trails with her. So this week, she got to show off all of the tricks and cues she already knows, and tighten them up in a new environment.

Petro: Petro, like Phoenix, is so well-trained and so eager to please, that now we’re mostly focused on keeping his fitness up as he gets older, and proofing obedience cues in new environments.

Zero: Zero worked on tons of positions (sit, stand, down) on trails, as well as strengthening his already-existent loose heel while running. He also tolerated two adolescent Dutch Shepherd gals which should win him some kind of medal 😂

Loca: Loca is a 10-month old pup who has never trail run and never been off-leash in public before! We mostly worked on teaching her to stay close, recalling, and some positions on trail.

Roe: Primarily, Roe joined in to hang out with all of her friends 😂 But, she also worked loose heeling, positions, some retrieves, and some down stays.

I take notes from each dog’s session and save them week by week, so that we can track progress together ♥️

Monday 10/30/2023!

Today we had Zoey, Stella, Roe, Sean, Petro, Bean, Zero, Phoenix, Ditto, and Bear!

Zoey worked primarily on a “with me” cue, to run nearby while off-leash and not go too far ahead.

Stella started learning a “mush” command (pulling into a joring harness to get to the end of it). She’s going to do some sled pulling this winter! Maybe even skijoring.

Roe worked on “with me” and positions while on trail.

Sean worked on his endurance, and is building fitness right now. He also worked on some positions.

Petro, Sean’s buddy, did the same as Sean ^

Bean worked on getting comfortable around people and dogs, and building some run fitness/endurance.

Zero worked on not stopping to sniff during our runs; he got plenty of “free time” for sniffing but is learning that when we’re running, we’re running.

Phoenix worked on recall and her run fitness.

Ditto worked on not picking up leaves/debris off the ground, not running off, and disengaging from play with other dogs while on trail.

Bear worked on dog neutrality and maintaining his “old man” fitness 😉

It was a rainy day but we all managed to have fun out there today! 🥳🥳🥳

Monday, 10/23/23: Loudon crew!

We went mountain biking today and worked on recalls, “with me”s (a very loose heel), non-reactivity to strangers on the trail, down stays, and appropriate play with other dogs.
