DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU CAN'T SPREAD COLD WATER WITH AN OVERHEATED DOG OR PUT A WET TOWEL ON ITS BACK? !! ️.
HERE'S THE INSTRUCTION OF WHAT YOU SHOULD DO..
Animal lovers, never make the mistake of pouring cold water overheated dog or putting a wet towel on its back. You will see the opposite effect.
Due to cold, the veins contract and due to high temperatures (above 42 degrees), the proteins in the blood collide, causing the blood to become thick and tight.
Due to the combination of these two factors, blood stops entering the heart and organs fail one by one due to lack of oxygen.
The result is a very slow but very painful death.
If you try to help an overheated dog in this way, it will die anyway.
First give him lukewarm water to drink, then cool his feet and chest/belly with a wet towel.
Then put the dog in the shade on a wet towel!!!
Sharing is highly desirable because time and time again we see footage of overheated dogs exiting a car with water spilled on their backs.

Dixie is a stunning rottie/Staffie crossbreed, she is around 4-5 years old and was sadly an unclaimed stray.

She is settling in well with us and is very loving, gentle and easy going. She just wants to be loved! She is a playful girl.

She is soon to be dog tested. She can live with children ages 12+.

This fabulous girl is Magic, she is a large 1-2yr old American Bulldog cross! Sadly she was returned into our care and is patiently waiting for her perfect home.

Magic has a fabulous personality, she is friendly, loving and very cheeky! She has perfected her puppy dogs eyes and will use them for an extra treat or two 🥹

Magic is a big girl, she is young, boisterous and playful. She requires a physically capable and active home. Magic is extremely friendly but can lack manners at times when she gets over excited, she needs a capable home willing to do training with her.
Magic is an extremely intelligent dog and is very eager to learn when she is given the chance, she knows all of her basic commands and is very food and toy orientated. She really will make somebody a wonderful and loyal companion.

We ask anybody who is thinking of applying for Magic to think carefully about the commitment, before applying, she needs a loving and forever home.

Magic can be good with some dogs out and about but this again will need some further training. She cannot live with cats or small animals. Due to Magic’s size and playfulness a home without young children would be needed.

Unfortunately Lily is due to return to our care soon, we are hoping we can get her a forever home lined up 💔💔

Lily is a beautiful 3/4yr old Dogue de Bordeaux, she is a lovely and friendly girl who is looking for an experienced home. Lily is a good girl in the home, she can be left a few hours when needed and is happy as long as she has some toys to play with 😁
Lily loves her home comforts, she’s a couch potato and can be often found snoozing the day away 💤

Lily is quite a nervous girl and needs a lot of reassurance, especially on her walks. She would love an active home who can do further training with her out and about 🤍

Lily needs a pet free and child free home without visiting children. She would be best in a quiet home without many visitors initially.

She is a lovely sweet girl very friendly with everyone she meets, we hope she won’t be overlooked due to her age 😢
Annie is just the sweetest angel, she’s an absolute delight to be around and even though her world has been turned upside down, her tail is always wagging 🤍

A lot of you may remember our special girl Rosa 🥰 Rosa travelled from abroad in hope of her retirement home. We were so pleased when she was adopted a couple of months ago but unfortunately she just isn’t keen on the resident dog and wants her human all for herself and is now looking for her final forever retirement home!

Rosa is a 12 year old calm, placid and super friendly lab crossbreed. She is absolutely no trouble and has been otherwise absolutely perfect in her home.
She loves nothing more than a couple of short walks and plenty of cuddles and treats 🥰 Rosa will happily walk around with dogs but would just like a peaceful quiet home without other animals. Hi all, it’s me again, Ace. 👋

I told you I’d be back everyday to read you the news!

Here I am this morning enjoying a peanut butter lick mat 👅 I have a lick mat or stuffed kong everyday to occupy me. It’s hard being such a youngster in kennels. This is also what the staff recommend to desensitise me to being left alone when I get a home, I will be kept busy for an hour or so now!

I’m still waiting, I didn’t get one application form yesterday unfortunately 😢 so I am still in desperate need of a forever family 💔

Anyway on a more positive note, Bert the patterdale and Rusty the mature staffie boy have a viewing today. I can’t wait to hear as to whether they get adopted or not 🤞🏻.

Lots of my buddies 🐾 are being reposted today so keep an eye out 😍 and remember even if you don’t spot a dog suitable for what you are looking for, fill out the application form anyway as we have plenty of dogs waiting for a space that need help urgently.

Lastly, us doggies 🐶 would like to wish the best of luck to the cats 🐱 being visited for the ‘Open Weekend’ this weekend, I’m so glad to hear all of the appointment slots are now fully booked for this weekend however if you would like to apply to adopt any of our animals please remember to fill out the adoption questionnaire on our website!

🤎 ACES NEWS 🤎

Hi everyone, it’s me Ace! It’s been a while but I’m back and will be bringing you the news everyday until I get my forever home.

I’ve been such a good boy lately, I am really hoping I get adopted by my forever family some day soon. 🤎🤍🤎

I have just enjoyed a yummy tripe treat from our natural treats selection boxes 😋

It may have been Sunny ☀️ lately but the sanctuary and staff have been snowed under with pleas for help. Rehoming is very slow and big dogs like me don’t seem to get a look in. 😢

Not all of us though Blossom has been very lucky to find a home which is great and they have taken training advice from our staff so she has settled in very well. We hope this will be her furever home 💝

We’ve had so many success stories, our lovely poundie girl Shell was terrified when she arrived, she took a while to bring round, socialise and train but now she is settled in the perfect home and plays with other dogs.

It just proves us big bully breeds deserve a chance! We make the most fantastic, loyal companions.

Thankfully this past week we have waved a few dogs off to their new homes Nellie, Duncan, Frankie, Blossom, Frankie and Ozzy and Paisley. Amigo and Benny are off to their new homes today and lovely Rita is leaving us tomorrow.

Our wonderful bouncy Tigger is off to his new foster home tomorrow and we really are routing for him! 💙

But me? I’m still here and I really do deserve a chance to prove to you how amazing I can be. I’ve really settled down in the past few months and my family here at the rescue are more sure than ever that I am ready for my forever family. 🏡

I am a loving, affectionate and playful boy, very clever and eager to please. I LOVE food and toys so I am very easily motivated when it comes to training. I have made so much progress when it comes to walking and will walk steadily on my Kumfi Calmer, even around dogs. I am crate trained but will likely suffer from separation issues due to spending such a long time in kennels. I need an understanding, patient owner with lots of love and time to spare.

I will show you so much love in return.

Lovely pair needing their forever home.

Please meet Frankie (left) and Ozzy (right), Frankie is a 3yr Cocker spaniel cross and Ozzy is a 2 yr patterdale cross. These boys are simply fabulous!! They are both so so friendly, affectionate and full of fun!

They are both active dogs, they are full of life and need an active family! Both boys are great with other dogs, they have been great family pets, they loved the kids in the home and we hope that they are not waiting long for their new home 💔
They love playing together, they share everything including their food🙈

Unfortunately rehoming is extremely slow and we have so many urgent cases needing our help and as much as we would love to keep this pair together we will considering rehoming them separately.
