OPEN LETTER FROM THE OWNER TO OUR ESTEEMED CUSTOMERS

Dear Friends of Sticky Fingers Delectables!

So of late I have been thinking about my business: what makes it tick, and what makes Sticky Fingers Delectables thrive. After almost five years owning this business I thought it now appropriate to share with you some of my thoughts about the ice cream business, and what ice cream achieves in the world.

But wait a minute. Does ice cream 'achieve' anything in the world?

When, going on five years ago, I took over Sticky Fingers, I was closing out one unhappy chapter of my life (working for a big corporation in central Manhattan) and beginning another, more bucolic one. Though my 25 years in New York City were exciting and educational, they were also driven by the relentless struggle to compete, achieve, and survive. During those long years I finally came to realize that the only thing really worth pursuing life, in any human life, is happiness, simple happiness, happiness that hurts no one but only hands itself on.

This, then, is our Mission Statement and our One Big Project at Sticky Fingers Delectables: we aspire to be a 'Happiness Factory' for everyone who visits us. This is a challenge, ONE BIG PROJECT. But, as all of us face so many unexpected challenges I am convinced that over in our cozy little corner shop, tucked away on the lazy shores of Kauneonga Lake, you and I, customers and vendor alike, are doing our very best--for a moment, one scoop, one swirl, one billow at a time--to wash away all the tears of the world. And THAT'S an achievement, oh yes it is!
