3 things you wouldn’t know about me

If you’ve been following on for a while, then you probably already know that I’m a cat behiavourist. When I’m not helping to equip cats and cat owners with the most effective strategies for their needs and running the business, you may not actually realise these things about me...

🌟 I was always scared of cats and dogs and didn’t even touch an animal untill I was 26. My first cat Rya changed everything for me.

🌟 I build my career in corporate and worked for banking and consulting firms for 10 years before starting my cat behaviour business.

🌟 I feel most confident on stage - either dancing or speaking although I struggle with small talk within a group.

Apart from above, I love all things Harry Potter, Thai food, horror movies, and road trips.

But enough about me. I want to hear from you: do we have anything in common?

Most people adopt cats thinking they are easier pet to look after than dogs. Yes, you do not HAVE to take cats for a walk every morning. HOWEVER, there are so many skills, information and techniques you should learn and know before you adopt cats.

When I adopted my first cat, all I get was -
🟢A leaflet on things I needed to buy for my cat.
🟢Vaccinations and Vet procedure details.

I checked out unlimited videos on "LIFE WITH CATS" on your tube and excitedly bought Rya home.

My experience however as a first time cat owner was
🟢stressful,
🟢confusing and
🟢lots of self doubting if I am doing things right.

I am seeing the same pattern now after becoming a cat behaviourist with my cat owner clients. Therefore, its 2024 and high time we prioritise proper cat behaviouor science and empower our cat owners with correct information and skills they need to make this journey of cat parenting amazing from the start on 💚.

Most cat parents unknowingly encourage stressful behaviour in cats by treating cats as dogs. 😿

Dogs have been bred over the years to behave in a specific way, cats however have the genes of a predator who is literally a captive animal in your home.

This is why cats are so easily misunderstood by humans and get the identity of a mean, aloof, snob animal. However, in reality they are just behaving like they are meant to behave in nature.

I work with cat owners everyday to teach them skills needed to interpret a cat's body language and strategies on how to behave around cats. 🐈

Your cat constantly learn from your movement, energy, behaviour and routine. As a cat parent, you can navigate your cat's attitude and behaviour.

Firstly, there is no such thing called "BAD BEHAVIOUR" in Cats. I wrote it to get your attention 😁

Secondly, If you’re making these mistakes, don't you worry my friend.

Here are 3️⃣ simple solutions you can implement to fix them and train your cat to listen to you or shower you with love 💛

🤩 Catify your home so that your cat feel safe and confident at home.

🤩 Train them with proper communication, body language and positive association so that they come to you.

🤩 Build a trustable bond with them that they prefer to be around you.

The teeth of a predator 😸😸. Took some pictures of very sleepy Rya this afternoon on a hot summer day in Sydney. I can’t believe I get to live with this gorgeous lady every day and that I am the only one she trusts in this world. 🥰🥰.
It’s so hard to believe that infamous for being anti social, Rya is always near me no matter what I am doing. I will go by my Normal work through the day and she just admire everything from a close distance and is always around. It’s just a blessing to know that she trust and feel safe around me 🥰🥰.

Wisdom Wednesday is back!! Specially after you all voted in stories asking me to explain “how to make a fearful cat fearless” and how I transformed Rya from being a fearless cat 🐈

I won’t tell you that it’s all easy peasy because I know there are days when Rya is still scared and I do not push her boundaries.

Not forcing your cat to come out of their comfort zone is the best thing you can do to make them confident.

Instead of forcing them, navigate their thoughts, develop their curiosity and show them the positive side of being fearless 😻😻😻
