I've decided that do to life circumstances, the best way I can better the breed is to devote myself to having males at this time, rather than raising puppies.

My current males are Oz and a co-owned Harry who lives with Jillian of APAW - Poodle Pups Bred for Working Roles.

They are littermates and will be turning two in January, after which health testing will start.

Both are extemely athletic. Here's a picture of Oz jumping (on cue).

Stay tuned to this page for updates on Harry and Oz's achievements!

Update on Harry, the "Naughty boy": Harry is now co-owned with Jillian Emerson of APAW. He has earned his Trick Dog Intermediate title, and is trying out Rally-FrEe and Musical Freestyle.

At his first event he qualified in both Rally-FrEe and Musical Freestyle and took second place in Necomers! Here he is with his ribbons.

Harry is officially known as Sarsel's Music of the Night at APAW TKI

“Harry, Harry, quite contrary.” Named after Harry Houdini, Harry the Standard Poodle is a special dog. Put simply, he needs something to keep his mind busy.

Harry is currently six months old, and very confident. He has lovely conformation, and movement, and I’m looking for a co-own situation for him. He would be a great dog to show UKC (he has a natural tail and dew claws) conformation and chase Total Dog awards with; he would excel in training in multiple disciplines. He is currently about 20 inches tall and I expect him to add another inch or so.

He is from Sarsel Poodles breeding of URO2 U-CH APAWS Follow You Follow Me SPOT-ON ATD (“Genesis”) X APAWS Don’t Stop Believin’ ATD (“Hope”). Both parents are CHIC qualified. Sire https://ofa.org/advanced-search/?f=sr&appnum=1882999 Dam https://ofa.org/advanced-search/?f=sr&appnum=1929039 Genesis is a working service dog and has multiple Total Dog Awards. Hope passed service dog training but was ultimately switched to APAW’s breeding program (from which I leased her). I do NOT recommend Harry for service work unless it is a very special situation, as he is a go-go-go dog.

Harry is able to work independently, but also focus on his handler, a truly wonderful combination. He is food motivated, and will work for his kibble (but let me tell you, beef liver is where it’s at).

He loves licking and giving hugs, and most of the time he remembers that we lick with our tongue, not our teeth.

Harry was not bothered on the Fourth of July as a professional fireworks show was held five minutes from our house, nor as the neighbors celebrated with their own fireworks. Recently there was a storm and at one point our house actually shook from thunder, he just casually looked up, only a little bit concerned, then immediately settled back down with no fuss.

Harry has pointed at birds, and tried to make friends with the family cat (the cat is 13 and hates dogs, but he tries to be friends with her every chance he gets).

Harry needs an experienced handler with time and focus just for him. Although you can learn about new activities with him, he needs someone who knows dogs and has time just for him, although he would do well in a multi dog household.

My ideal home for Harry is willing to do a co-own, near Maryland, and looking to show him in both UKC conformation and the performance venue(s) of their choice. I would also consider a working home such as search and rescue. I would consider placing him further away, as well. I do not think he would work well for the majority of people needing a service dog, as he is too much of a “busy” dog.

Full disclosure: He broke his back leg at 9 weeks, while climbing an ex-pen. The growth plate was unaffected, he has healed up well, and my vet says that in one year it will be really, really well healed. My vet does not think this will impact him as an adult at all.

I’ve decided to find a co-owner for my “naughty boy” Harry, who is now 5 month old (standard poodle). He is from my Genesis x Hope litter.

Video in the first comment because FB hates me.

Parents are both CHIC qualified (Sire’s number is 162626 and OFA links are here: https://www.ofa.org/advanced-search?f=sr&appnum=1882999 Dam’s is 163347 and links are here: https://www.ofa.org/advanced-search?f=sr&appnum=1929039 ) and clear for von Willebrands and NEwS, either by lab or parentage.

Harry shows promise in UKC conformation and various sports. He is highly intelligent (he is named after Harry Houdini as he went through a phase starting at about 7 weeks when he was fascinated by what was on the other side of ex-pens, and taught himself to climb them in order to find out). He has a natural tail and dew claws.

He needs an experienced handler.

He is bred on APAW lines, and in addition to working service dogs (NOT an SD prospect), he has multiple MACHs, scentwork titles, trick dog titles, rally titles, tracking titles and UKC conformation titles among his relatives. He is a great prospect for someone looking to chase UKC Total Dog Awards.

Harry didn’t have much handler focus when he was younger, but I’ve worked with him on it and he’s gotten much better. I expect with more work this will continue to improve.

He is very food motivated.

He is extremely enthusiastic about most things.

He is very confident (I showed him a peanut and tried to get video footage of him trying it out, but he didn’t understand what I was asking and sat there manding like a good boy. Five minutes later I turned my back and he had his front paws on it, but the camera was off).

He is mostly crate trained (doesn’t like to be left in a room by himself in the crate, but will chill out in it, and eats in it. He is not crated overnight, but is loose in my bedroom) has a pretty good off switch considering his age, loves to give kisses (we’re working on not having any teeth included in kisses). If we’re in my bedroom he’ll let me know if he needs to potty, otherwise we’re still working on cues to go out. He’s happy to trade anything he’s not supposed to have for a treat.

Things he needs to work on:

If you’re outside and something interesting is going on, he may bark. If you show him that you’re more interesting than whatever it is he’ll quickly redirect to paying attention to you. This is NOT fear based in my opinion. Ask for video if you’re interested.

Counter surfing.

Blowdryers: I haven’t worked with him as much as I would like with blow dryers. He should adapt quickly with a little practice.

Things to be aware of:

He broke his back leg at 9 weeks, while climbing an ex-pen. The growth plate was unaffected, he is healed up well, and my vet says that in one year it will really, really well healed. My vet does not think this will impact him as an adult at all.

Harry, Oz and I are hoping to be at the Memorial Day Weekend UKC show in Westfield MA. Harry and Oz will be getting ring experience in the puppy match. Harry *may* be available to a co-owner in the Maryland area who is interested in UKC conformation and performance. He has developed a great deal more handler focus since last post, and is a potential contender for Total Dog awards.

He has grown since this picture.
