I'm so stoked for this training team! Just 2.5 months ago Zues was pulling on the leash lunging at all dogs and busses . Now he has slack leash walking, focus on the handler, ignoring dogs and no longer lunging at busses and trolleys. Hes walked with Max and now Dakota. We are doing one more walk with one of my dogs and then he will graduate to pack walking.

So impressed with Tempo's improvement in her leash walking and over arousal to other dogs! We switched her equipment and also her humans really created a lot more consistency on the leash which helped tremendously. She has graduated to packwalking!!! 🥳🥳🥳

Ive been working for over a year since Gavin passed away (where my eating disorder reared its ugly head hard core) on reconnecting, relearning, and enjoying food & cooking again. Thanks to some amazing friends who've stuck with me in regular flavor challenges (I normally eat very bland food grounded in hx of an eating disorder) trying new foods, cooking, and relearning that food is a good thing, its ok to enjoy it, that it's fuel for the body, and I don't have to hyper control my eating due to stress, trauma, or lack of self worth/value. I've struggled with an eating disorder and disordered eating (yes they are different), and exercise addiction which has been no secret for over 30 years. Relapses were common and it's a life long struggle for me.

In the last two months some things have profoundly shifted due to friend support but also recognizing the core source and and shaper of my eating disorder is no longer in my life which was then later compounded by multiple life traumas and other people who worked to be controlling, bring me down , pressured me to loose weight, toxic work environments, vicarious trauma as a trauma therapist and crises counselor, and even coaches pushing me to be an elite athlete.

I'm a strong advocate for self care and I've stuck to that for myself for years. However in the area of food it's been incredibly difficult. Im just so grateful for people in my life that have taught & supported me to really love myself and they have been there unconditionally despite me being in some really dark places and even being suicidal.
People with eating disorders are not always extremely skinny. People with average weights can be incredibly sick, people with higher weights can incredibly sick, athletes can incredibly sick, eating disorders can affect anyone if any s*x, gender, race, ethnicity, culture.
Be kind. Be compassionate. You never know what other people are dealing with every day behind closed doors. I may have more times in the future where my relationship with food falters into the realm of unhealthy, for now im building a stronger foundation of health and better coping skills.

Sweet Stella was on 🔥🔥today! We did a in real time sidewalk training session. Since she's a cattledog mix we've added fun dog parkour work to her walks for added engagement, building on the LAT work that she came to training already knowing and she did fantastic when we saw dogs today doing automatic disengagement. We are adding muzzle training to her work as well for when she's ready for packwalking Next week she works with one of my dogs!!!

Eddie just killed it today with Max! One more 1:1 class then graduation to next level packwalking! This reactive girl has come soooooo far as have her handlers! They have all the tools, are using them , are more confident, have been being sure to meet her exercise needs, have increased her canine enrichment and have really hit that sweet spot of reactive dog training when you can really enjoy walking your dog as well as feeling confident in trying new places and things!!! I found out today they want to teach Eddie kyacking this summer! I'm so stoked.

I got to see two of my favorite girls last night and just hang out with thier humans. These two really have made a lot of progress since getting in full out fights with eachother. We still have a was to go and seeing a behaviorist for Zeldas med management but all these little steps are so important not to overlook or discount. Thier humans & ._.art are just phenomenal. Despite this process being so stressful and society producing they have not given up on thier dogs, have worked with vets, training, muzzle work, enrichment and most importantly lots of management. I could not be prouder of these dog pawrents.

Paws up welcome to Ziggy & Atticus siblings who are starting training. Ziggy is working on puppy basics, leash work, and seeing if he can make its as a pet therapy dog for his moms therapy practice. Atticus is working on his leash aggression and over arousal on the leash. Can't wait to see where our training journey takes us!!!

There is a movie coming out on Feb 18 called "Dog". It stars Chanum Tatum and a highly trained Belgian Malinois. It's a road trip/buddy movie.

People are going to see this film and many will want their own Belgian Malinois. This is not going to end well for this breed.

A highly trained Malinois is a work of art. So is Michelangelo's statue of David but I don't necessarily want it in my living room.

This breed can be amazing in the right hands but they require a lot of everything. If you are considering getting a Malinois, please, first go meet some Malinois of all ages at your local rescue.

Be honest with yourself about the amount of time that you have to dedicate to training one of these dogs. Not the person that you want to be but the person that you are right now. Sitting on your ass and reading this post.

If you are still determined to get one. You can stem the inevitable tidal wave of Malinois that will be surrendered to the shelters by sourcing your dog in one of 3 places:

Your local shelter
A local Malinois rescue
A real, ethical breeder (researching one is hard work but an ethical breeder will prove their dogs and require that you return the dog to them if you can't keep it)

DO NOT get a Malinois from the guy down the street. Don't help backyard breeders line their pockets. Pure bred doesn't equal good breeding.

If you see the popularity of these dogs sky rocket and think you can make a quick buck by breeding some. May all of your financial ventures fail one after another.

Ruby is ready for game time! Her little human sibling is coming next week! We've done all the prep we can, we've got enrichment on board and liki mats for anxiety, we've done all the mat work we could/relaxation protocol, logistical planning with gates, having a safe space for Ruby to decompress when needed.

I'm so excited for them! Stay tuned for updates! The second photo is Ruby's face when we told her she'd have to share her humans starting next week lol.

This nugget knew spring was in the air and had sooooo much energy on her walk today, was a bit of a fire cracker but loving the warmer weather. Love her so much and really got to have a meditative walk this morning to process, think, and allow myself time to be introspective on where I'm at and where and what I want for today. Yes just today because today is what I can handle.
