So when folks ask, "hey, how come you don't post many videos of your dogs etc?" , may I present Exhibit A. ...today I attempted to get approx 1 min of video of a friend running her dog at the show; trying to see the gaiting of the dog. This brilliant marvel is what I achieved. Your honor, the defense rests its case. Sigh.
Super proud of my daughter who has never treated her little dogs(previous dog who just passed away was a very small chihuahua who lived a life of outdoors , hiking , kayaking -passing away as a seniour with a life well lived) as frail furbabies but rather honored them as a species capable of so much more and thus even the little guys live a very robust and enriched life. This is her new fella and looks like he can handle whatever is in his path!
and the Halloween aisle, no Chuckies, but still on the creep factor side!
did a couple of novel things with our current SDiT, and though it was very intriguing, she adapted well and handled whatever I was throwing her way. Apparantly , hoomans do strange things and puppys just come along for the ride!
Just giving the pup a chance to make some choices and thus build some confidence in overcoming, "obstacles" in her way and moving forward. No coercion or bribing , just manage the situation and set up the outcome. Good work puppy! Especially the end of it, I was surpised by her decision there!

And we are off! Big guys run, little guys ride!
Each new situation can create a new dilemma. Genetics play in for sure. This lab is predisposed to love love love the water. Would swim all day, but will come out when called, so far. We believe in finding them activities that bring them joy of course, but our next hurdle will be, can we keep a water-velcro dog from heading into the water if told not to? Impulse control is a must for proper training and to have a balanced dog. Meanwhile, its supposed to pour rain for days so there be puddles and ponds everywhere. Probably not the time I will test our work around bodies of water. But it is for a future task. #everythingistraining
We are all trying very hard(well labs are trying hard, aussies are bouncing around like kangaroos and some silly poodle types though, suddenly can't even ) but anyway, the 4 leggeds are trying to learn that the hooman would like you up on a platform and just being steady so I can put on collars and leashes for walkies. I don't have collars on when they play as I have seen too many dogs get teeth tangled in collars, so everyone is "naked" when loose together for playtime for safety.
We have a young fella staying a few days working on building confidence around dogs who are just playing. Here they are being a bit more aroused than I'd like to see but I intervened a few times and brought levels down and then we did the field pack walk too and that certainly helped. My dogs, other than Syd who will stay calm and neutral as long as the dog isn't obnoxiously in her face, are dog friendly, and the old dogs really don't care who is in the yard with them as long as they get foods, they don't care about anything else, but they young females, play very rough but with no malice. That can be misinterpreted however, by dogs with trust issues, thus, I had to do some handling of the situation. He's really come along the past few days though.
Sometimes you just do stupid derpy things with dogs, cause , well...just cause
