Fruits Offer Your Pets Beneficial Phytonutrients and Antioxidants Not found in pet food!

Dogs (and cats, if they’ll eat ‘em) can receive significant health benefits from fresh food snacks 🐶🐱, but so many false food fears create unnecessary panic, and pets are denied the amazing health benefits of these great additions 👎🏼.

Many of these fruits are listed on DO NOT FEED lists by well-meaning websites that fail to explain the details: Toddlers and pets need to have the rinds, cores, seeds, leaves, stems and pits of fruits removed prior to eating, and all fruits and veggies need to be chopped into tiny, bite-sized pieces.

I find it interesting that the choking/GI risks are the same for little people and pets, but the foods listed aren’t demonized for kids because human parents have common sense: Don’t feed kids whole cherries with pits and stems. Same for your pets.

Well Pet Food Industry, and , I believe pet parents also have some common sense and won’t offer pineapple rinds to their dogs as treats, so how about you update your out-of-date website info 🙏🏼?

Put a * by foods that have a rind, pit, core or stem. Remind folks training treats should less than 10% of an animal’s daily calories, and if your pet has never had the new food before, always feed them slowly, giving the GI tract time to adjust. Chop them into tiny pieces and offer in moderation.

Here's the list of foods AAFCO/FEDIAF state are toxic to pets: onions, grapes/raisins, macadamia nuts and chocolate. 4 foods. It’s time to clean up and clarify your warning lists.

Pet parents, what’s your pet’s favorite fruit? Share your answers in the comments. 🐶👇

Sniffaris: The Type of Walk Dogs Love Most 🐶❤️

Many pet parents tend to think of dog walks as a time for their canine BFF to relieve themselves or get some exercise (which are important, of course). But for dogs, walking is their chance to satisfy the desire to sniff the always-fascinating world outside their home. They explore the world with their noses, so don’t deprive them of their scent-ventures. 🐕🚶

❓Why Not A Bowl?

🐶A dog’s hearing has a more extensive range at both higher and lower frequencies as well as greater distances than humans, which permits ‘early warnings’ of potential danger.

📌Because of their shape and depth, bowls can limit your dog’s hearing and create echos, or undesirable clanking during meal time.

✅By using a Mine Pet Platter you allow your animal to explore the food in front of them without their hearing being sacrificed.

🙌It’s a win-win for your pet.

Nature’s Immune System Support

Colostrum is the thick fluid which is produced in mammals for 2 days post birth as a precursor to mother’s milk.

Colostrum is extremely nutrient dense and contains:
• Cytokines: Cytokines are part of our systemic immune system. These proteins keep communication between immune cells active. “No communication = No immunity”
• Immunoglobulins (IgA, IgD, IgE, IgG, IgM) Immunoglobulins are also known as antibodies. These small proteins are used by the immune system to seek out and destroy foreign antigens (invaders).
• Lactoferrin: Assists with iron absorption and has shown anti-microbial characteristics. It is also part of our immune system.

Another cool fact about colostrum is the supply is based on demand. This means that a humane operation can both allow the babies to receive their mother’s colostrum while collecting excess colostrum produced for market.

I offer both a bovine and goat colostrum on my website, but if you’re looking for your own to use, make sure you find one that uses humane practices.

⚠️ Toxic Contaminants Hiding in Pet Foods ⚠️

Kibble and canned pet food is “fast food:” it’s super convenient and sustains life, but is it an ideal food for a lifetime? No. The same is true for humans living on all-in-one nutrition bars and nutrition shakes: it’s easy, but not an ideal type of food for the body, over a lifetime.
Not to mention the “feed vs. food” issue. There’s “feed grade” ingredients and “food grade” ingredients, and it is important pet owners know the difference.

One of the reasons ultra-processed pet foods have so many recalls and create so many health problems is that top-selling brands use ingredients that don’t pass human food inspection standards – they use “feed-grade” ingredients that are only intended for animal consumption (and yes, that means the ingredients are NOT deemed safe for human consumption 🤢).

In a recent article appearing in the pet food industry trade magazine, things we should expect to find in pet food are arsenic, mercury, PCB, BPA, dioxin and aflatoxins. No, I’m not joking. Thankfully, there are a growing number of startups/new pet food companies using only human-grade ingredients in their pet foods (which dramatically reduces the risks for lots of contaminants). I’m thankful we have lots of new brands to choose from (and there’s always making nutritionally complete pet food in your kitchen 😊). Read today’s free article to learn more: https://bit.ly/3L2FWJr

BEFORE TOSSING OUT YOUR EGGSHELLS, YOU MAY WANT TO CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING FIRST! (which can help heal you and your pets' joints!)

“An egg is known to be a nutritional powerhouse, packed with protein, vitamins and minerals in both its yolk and white, but the membrane that surrounds a developing embryo may possess even more amazing qualities that can benefit health and well-being.” - The Alternative Daily

What is the eggshell membrane?

The most annoying part of the egg when trying to peel it, of course! The rubbery membrane, which can actually be the extremely beneficial according to researchers and their studies!

“A 2009 study published in the Journal of Clinical Interventions in Aging found that a supplement of natural eggshell membrane was effective for reducing knee pain and stiffness related to the condition without causing side effects that are known to result from long-term use of traditional treatments, like non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications.” - Livestrong

However this membrane needs to be offered at the raw, uncooked stage and not the boiled stage as heat can destroy the beneficial properties.

“Eggshell membranes contain substances with known benefits to joint health, including glucosamine, hyaluronic acid, chondroitin and collagen.”- published on the Insider Health, February 2011.

To further stroke this membrane’s ego, according to Dr. Karen Becker:

“Eggshell membrane contains a number of natural substances for today’s pets, including:

• Collagen - A fibrous protein that supports cartilage and connective tissue strength and elasticity.

• Elastin - A protein that supports skin, cardiovascular, cartilage, and spinal health. Elastin gives tissue its elastic tension and ability to resume its shape after stretching.

• Desmosine and isodesmosine - Two little-known amino acids responsible for elastin’s elastic or “rubbery” properties.

• Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) - Includes glucosamine, chondroitin, and hyaluronic acid - vital polysaccharides that are structural components of connective tissue, interstitial fluids and skeletal structure.

• Transforming growth factor-b - A protein that plays a crucial role in cellular differentiation and immune function.”

The tricky part of course is actually peeling the membrane away from the eggshell. Crack the organic egg from your local farmer, use it as normal, and then attempt to peel that white rubbery skin-like membrane away from the eggshell. Then feed it direct to your pet or fire on top of their food!

The peeling may seem tough at first, but with a little bit of practice, you can turn what normally goes into your trash into a super nutritious healing machine for you and your pets.

Now that spring is here🌞🌳, your dogs may not only be suffering from seasonal and environmental allergies but they are also at increased risk of being exposed to more pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers than any other time of year.🐶⚠️🧬

Giving your dog quercetin can not only improve their allergy symptoms, research shows it can support their liver during these toxic exposures.

Quercetin is an important dietary polyphenol that is found in several fruits and vegetables such as apples, berries, and green leafy vegetables.🍎🫐🥬 In addition to being a natural antihistamine, “nature’s Benadryl”, quercetin is a phytochemical powerhouse that supports the liver and kidneys from oxidative damage.

In one animal study, quercetin decreased elevated liver enzymes and improved vitamin C levels in animals exposed to Glyphosate and other toxicants. Supplementing with quercetin has also been shown to inhibit the absorption of chemicals in the kidney, thereby accelerating the elimination of these toxins. Animal-model studies have also found quercetin supplementation improved DNA damage induced by glyphosate exposure.🧬

💊Dose: Multiply the weight of your pet in pounds by eight (8). For example, a 50-lb dog should get 400 mg per day. Whatever amount you give your pet, always split the dosage into two separate portions throughout the day for best results. Hide capsules or powder in their meals or a treat.

👉To discover more herbs, supplements, and superfoods you can give your dog to enhance and protect their health, you can find more tips and the science behind it in our book The Forever Dog. www.Foreverdog.com

This is a good illustration of puppy socialization needs, shared from Good as Gold Training, but I would also add that all of the listed exposure and experience needs to feel *safe* for the puppy. If s/he is nervous, tentative, or fearful the fear should be handled by backing off a little and reintroducing very slowly and with lots of praise, food and patience. Sometimes, for the sake of "socialization", owners push their puppies too far and too fast, and it can backfire. Good socialization requires that we "read" our puppies and help them feel safe as they navigate the sounds, textures, people and animals in their new world.

I give Ely MCT oil daily

If you have a dog🐶 or know someone who has a dog that seizures🤯 and they haven’t tried a diet change, they are truly missing out on the potential to reduce seizures in their pet!

This new study highlights when epileptic dogs had MCT Oil (derived from coconut oil🥥) added to their food, 71% of the dogs experienced a reduced seizure frequency. MCTs provide medium chain fatty acids (MCFAs) and ketones as auxiliary brain🧠 energy and can reduce seizures in rodent seizure models, dogs and humans with epilepsy.

Multiple studies have shown that certain seizures frequencies can be reduced by changing to a higher fat/low carb diet (i.e. a ketogenic diet) and/or adding more clean fats to their dogs’ food, like MCT Oil. In approximately 50% children and adults with certain types of epilepsy, seizure frequency can be effectively reduced as long as the diet is continued.

In our new book, The Forever Dog, we discuss ketogenic diets, which also mimic the beneficial effects of fasting (including a reduction in seizure potential) in the chapter titled “De-Aging through Diet.” The Forever Dog is available for pre-order, worldwide, right now! www.ForeverDog.com

PROTECTING YOUR PUP'S HEART HEALTH!🫀

One of our favorite longevity foods we include in The Forever Dog book are pomegranates, particularly for your pup’s heart health.🐶🫀 Cardiac diseases are the second most prevalent cause of death for dogs.💔 Previous studies have highlighted that oxidative stress plays a major role in the development and progression of cardiovascular disease in dogs. And research has shown protecting cells from this oxidative stress can reduce the onset and progression of canine diseases such as heart failure, and cardiomyopathies.

Pomegranates are incredibly rich in polyphenols, containing higher levels than other fruit and three times more than red wine🍷 and green tea🍵. These powerful antioxidants protects cells from oxidative stress and damage. Rapidly absorbed by the body, the antioxidants in pomegranate also protect against cartilage deterioration and joint damage by blocking inflammatory enzymes.

In addition, pomegranates contain molecules called “elligantans,” which gut microbes🦠 convert to urolithin A. Urolithin A has been shown to regenerate defective mitochondria in worms - increasing their life span by more than 45%! Tests with rodents proved similar results, and early clinical trials reveal the same may hold true for humans (and presumably dogs too).

🐶You’d be surprised how many dogs will eat these tart, crunchy little ‘seeds’ mixed in with their food or as a treat. Feed about one teaspoon for every ten pounds of body weight.🥄

As you know, roads can be icy this time of year. A common de-icing product known as rock salt is a mixture of sodium chloride that helps reduce ice build-up on roads.

What you may not know is that rock salt can be extremely dangerous to pets - especially when ingested or licked from paws and fur. Symptoms of salt poisoning include drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite.

Pet parents who suspect rock salt ingestion should seek veterinary advice immediately! Don’t wait for visible symptoms to occur.

SUPERCHARGE YOUR DOG’S MEALS WITH THIS EASY RECIPE! 🐶🥣

Great for dogs that are recovering from GI issues, picky eaters, and older pets with declining appetites, bone broth🦴 is one of the Forever Fluids highlighted in The Forever Dog. This bone broth recipe from our book is different than traditional recipes, which can be high in histamines that can negatively affect some dogs.🐶 In addition to having a shorter cooking time, we also included several of our favorite longevity vegetables in this recipe for added health benefits:

🌱Cilantro, effective at binding heavy metals.

🌿Parsley, a natural blood detoxifier.

🍄Medicinal mushrooms (shiitake, turkey tail, reishi, oyster, etc) provide glutathione, spermidine, ergo, and beta-glucans for cognition🧠 and immune health.

🧄Garlic is high in sulfur stimulating production of glutathione for liver detoxification. Watch our FB Live dispelling the myth about garlic for dogs, link in comments.👇

Poured over your dog's food as a meal topper or fed as a treat, bone broth is a great addition to their diet! Feed 2 tablespoons🥄 for every 10 lbs of body weight.
