Ruthie’s Moonlight got to go to a new home today! He is going to be a part time classroom bunny! Dutch have such great personalities and temperaments! It was the perfect match!

Update: momma tried, but Zelensky didn’t make it. We will try this momma again, she really did start to figure some things out.

Well, here’s Zelensky… our brave little fighter. It’s been a pretty stressful day. Our poor new momma had a rough time with her first litter. We caught her nesting and contractions on the bunny cam at lunch. Ben immediately saw this baby… but what followed led to an afternoon of heartache. Ben worked on two kits for over an hour trying to warm them and get them to breathe. Then the contractions kept coming but no babies. Thankfully our 4H programs went in together and bought an ultrasound machine and we could see two kits. One clearly had a heartbeat, albeit weak/slow.

So then off to a vet for some oxytocin! Injected that myself (super proud of myself btw) then another baby popped out! (Like literally) Then baby number five was stuck and we had to pull… oh it was so tragic. We have learned SO MUCH today.

Also, when the world goes to crap, I’m finding a good farming family to camp out with. They know how to do everything! Lol!

Ruth sold her first Ruthie’s raised rabbit today! Funds are going towards her ARBA membership so she can be an “official” breeder!

When handled daily, bunnies (especially Dutch) can be so sweet, social, and personable! Our babies will be slowly weaning from momma this week and then going to new homes! How has seven weeks passed so quickly?!
