My name is Hyrum. Me and my wife along with our kids run Farm Country Goldens.

When I was a kid we couldn’t afford a dog of our own, but we had a lot of neighborhood dogs. Sometimes they would come over to our house and my little brother Matthew who has down syndrome would take care of them. One day one of our neighbors came back from vacation and found his dog missing and so he came over to our house to find Matthew caring for his dog. He was touched by the bond that my little brother had with the dog. He pulled me aside and said he would give me a free puppy for our family. That puppy had a very positive impact on my brother.

One day I was listening to K-LOVE Radio in my car and was reminded of the generosity our neighbor showed us and was inspired to show families with special needs that same generosity now that I am in the position to do so. When I got home I told my wife about my inspiration, she loved the idea so much that she said let’s give away multiple puppies each year. So that is what we plan to do.

We will be giving the first puppy away on October 11th. If you know a family that has a child with special needs who would benefit from a puppy please have them fill out an application on our website at https://farmcountrygoldens.com/free-puppy-application
