My Christmas fosters are ready to go to their forever homes! These are the sweetest and most playful group of girls! They love zooming and chasing each other all over the cage throughout the day. And they’ll come sniff you down and nibble your toes if you sit in floor time with them!

Mistletoe is the mother. Holly is the oldest of the three daughters, she was born in a previous litter to Mistletoe. Mistletoe and Holly were found at a dumpster back in December and Mistletoe was pregnant with another litter. Mistletoe is estimated to have been born in July of 2023 and Holly November of 2023. Gingerbread and Noel were born at the rescue in February of 2024.

My foster mama pig, Omni, went to a new home today to hopefully live in a herd with three other piggies! I’m so happy for her and hope it all goes well with the bonding process! Happy gotcha day!

I’ll be back at PetSmart at Alamo Ranch this Sunday, June 23 from 11am-4pm. Bring your Guinea pigs in for wellness checks and nail trims. Have long haired guinea pigs? I can give a little trim on their fur for you as well.

I took Gizmo to the vet for the rescue the other day and was so heart broken to see how much this little guy is suffering. If anyone can find it in their heart to help sponsor this little guy so we can get him on pain management, that would be so greatly appreciated. His meds will cost $30/month. Mistletoe and Holly are still waiting to find their forever family. Mistletoe is Holly’s mom. They were both found at a dumpster at Christmas 2023. Mistletoe was only 6 months old and had just recently had Holly, who was born around the first of December, 2023. Mistletoe was already pregnant with another litter when they were rescued. I’ve been fostering Mistletoe, Holly, and the new babies since February, helping them grow strong and healthy so they can enjoy life to the fullest. Mistletoe and Holly both are excellent when you hold them, and love to cuddle on in your lap or arms. They are always together, like double trouble, begging at the grids for attention and food, or zooming around their cage, followed by napping in their fleece tunnels. These two girls will bring so much joy and entertainment to your life!

I'll be back at PetSmart at Alamo Ranch again this Sunday from 11am to 4pm for another Second Chance Cavy Rescue Adoption Meet and Greet event. If you've been thinking about adopting guinea pigs, you can stop by and meet some adoptable and pick up an adoption application. You can also go to SecondChanceCavy.org to read about our adoption process and fill out an application there as well.
If you already own guinea pigs, feel free to bring them on by the event and I'll be happy to do a weight check, general health check and nail trim on them for you.
We are also offering boarding this summer for guinea pigs! If you need someone to take care of your guinea pigs while you are away, reach out to me or Second Chance Cavy Rescue and we can discuss boarding them while you are away! I know it can be difficult to find someone knowledgeable in guinea pig care to take care of them for you. We’d love to help you out with that!

My kitty, Apollo, wasn’t feeling too well yesterday, so my teen heated a hot pad for him and made him a bed with towels and fleece, with the hot pad underneath, for him to relax on. I think he appreciated it.

I’m back at PetSmart at Alamo Ranch Shopping Center for Second Chance Cavy Rescue. I have a few cozies for sale, (proceeds go to second chance cavy rescue). We are also doing nail trims, health checks and weight checks. Today I have Mistletoe and her daughters, Holly, Gingerbread and Noel. I also have Sweetie and Lovely to meet and hold as well. I’ll be here until 4pm today.

Jasmine, a sweet Lionhead bunny was adopted in February by her foster Gwen. Sadly, Gwen is having back surgery and will not be able to give her the care she needs SO Jasmine will be back with us. Looking for a foster as soon as possible ( or adopter).

Charlie Brown and Cashew are the sweetest boys! I have them here at PetSmart for the meet and greet and they’ve been so cute cuddling with each other and greeting the people that stop to look at them. I did a little nail trim on them and they were so good. They loved me holding and petting them. They are some of our seniors we have at Second Chance Cavy Rescue that are looking for their forever homes. If you want some tame and laid back, cuddly guinea pigs, you can’t go wrong with these two!

Omni is fully enjoying being able to lay in the hammock and not have her babies laying all over her like they do in the tunnels lol. I feel like she just needs a little glass of piggy lemonade and a good book to fully chill in the hammock 😀

Finished the stacked foster cages yesterday and moved Omni and her babies into the top. They had fun popcorning and exploring the new cage. I plan to use the bottom for temporary fosters, like those I take to PetSmart, that I only have over the weekend. So that the bottom cage is less hassle with keeping clean. I’m happy with how it all turned out.
