Yesdog services will flip to Yespig services for some days this summer. This is Fifi a rescue lady pig i will be taking care of when her owner will be out. Looking forward to get to know this fabulous queen. On the second picture a pigsty earthenware model from the Han dynasty 206-220BC found at Shanxi, China.

🎃Since today is the real "Halloween" The Day of the Dead - Dia de los Mu***os
We will celebrate by honouring another example of canines in ancient art, which reflects of course to a real ancient breed which is present until today.
The ceramic Colima dog of ancient West Mexico.
*Western Mexico’s Pre-Columbian Colima culture (circa 200 B.C. to 400 A.D.)
The Colima dog is a representation of Xoloitzcuintli dog, the Peruvian and Mexican hairless dogs.
The name Xoloitzcuintli is translated from the Aztec language as “strangely formed dog.” It’s associated with the Aztec god Xolotl, god of fire 🔥 and death 💀, and “itzcuintli,” Aztec for “dog 🐶.” Xolotl sometimes appears as a dog-headed man. At a time when human diversity was embraced differently, Xolotl was also the god of deformities, hence the association with the curious hairless breed.
☝️Dogs played an important role for indigenous people in this region. Scholars believe that Colima dog, have served multiple purposes in life. Appealing ones may have been close companions, while fierce ones functioned as watchdogs. Others may have served as handy “healers” - The Colima dogs indicate a symbolic and spiritual significance served as a part of religious life.
And...😬... In some cultures, Xolos would be consumed in sacrificial ceremonies, then buried with their human companions to act as guides to the afterlife, or underworld.
📖 Myths and legends of dogs abound in Mesoamerican cultures, including the belief that dogs served as guides for the soul in the afterlife. Legends tell us of a spirit dog that the recently deceased would encounter. It’s said that you should take hold of the dog’s tail so it can shepherd you across a body of water into the hereafter..⛲
⭐A central Mexican legend says that if you treat your dog right in life, it will meet you in death as a guide!!
So treat your dog right and treat all dogs right! Alright?
🧡This post - for the Day of the Dead, is for honouring all the dogs that died serving us throughout the history, the ones who have been sacrificed to help through the afterlife of their companions, but mainly for the ones who didn't get to have the life they deserved. Adopt!

> The dogs appearing on ancient Egyptian, Babylonian and Mesopotamian artifacts are the ancestors of the Basenjis.
The first known domesticated dogs resembled a lot to Basenjis, making them a very ancient breed.
The word 'Basenji' means 'dog of the bush'. They were firstly bred and established in central Africa by the natives around where is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo. They were later brought up to Nile as presents for the Pharaohs of Egypt.
They are both scent and sight hounds, trained to be hunting dogs because of their acute intelligence, fearlessness and athletism. The breed remained largely unchanged due to the lack of crossbreeding. They are considered rather primitive dogs genetically and developmentally and they are quite different from most domestic dogs... They don't shed or smell, they spend much of their time grooming and carefully licking their coats just like a cat and they are famously known as the 'barkless dogs' because they dont bark - but they yodel!

On the last picture - The portrait of Muteesa I, King of Buganda (1856-1884) proudly walking his prince basenji dog.

Silver and Buddy an amazing duo passionately on a journey to take over the world - or at least Nicosia city centre. Anyway they are cool and they know it.

Dizzee spent almost a week with me, it was enough time to fall in love again 💘
Dizzee was a puppy when he was found by his human, injured and abandoned somewhere at Mahairas/Troodos mountain, probably left there by hunters (since his tail was already docked).
Dizzee is a good good boy, still a puppy in mind, super friendly with all dogs, humans and even cats! (Ok except one cat..but that cat was clearly very mean). He is the sweetest & kind boy, its heart breaking thinking that such a loving dog would have had a different ending if he wasn't miraculously found and rescued by his kind human.
Anyway..happy (which was yesterday, 26th August, but wtv every day should be a dog day!) Adopt and rescue and don't shop! Please!
🏰💘

Phaedra is staying with me for some days, a cross greyhound found by her human at a shelter in Cyprus. Kind, discreet and patient and without a doubt one of the most elegant dog i encountered. She loves Zaha Hadid's square in Nicosia because of the pigeons and fountains. 🕊️
