The people have spoken ... Trail hunts are a lie. So many hunts rely on NT land, especially fell packs, so today's vote is yet another blow to this illegal industry. We'll be there watching to see they tow the line. 🦊

An early call this morning about this sweetie - unlucky enough to fall seriously ill, fortunate enough to do so right beside an independent wildlife protector.

We don't know what her future brings but we're so relieved that after being flat out and having seizures first thing (pic 3) by the time we got her to the best rescue she was alert and able to raise her head. Updates to follow 🖤

After weeks of near misses with wildlife and chased farm animals, the Forest Hunt in Cheshire have finally succumbed to pressure this season and today we have seen, as one of our sabs calls it, a "rarer than yeti s**t" genuine trail being laid.

So far so good today as the hunt stick to the trail map shown to us as they set off (if only every supposed trail hunt was able to do the same, and hunts could be trusted to do this without a monitoring presence, life would be a lot easier for all parties).

You can help keep us pressuring fox hunts and out in the cull for just the price of a coffee https://ko-fi.com/midlandswildlifeaction

An early start was needed yesterday to make the trip south to visit the Puckeridge Hunt in Essex. After this weekends' ridiculous antics from this hunt, pretending to break down in the middle of the road to block sabs and also blocking sabs into areas for over an hour we thought we'd make sure there was enough of us to push any vehicles off the road and to a safe place out of the way of other road users. To be honest, what a bunch of wetwipes they were.
They slipped out of the meet at around 7.30, leaving the field in the yard to just wander around aimlessly not knowing what to do or where to go. Support we're waiting for them on their pre planned route which was also changed at the last minute. As the rain started coming down the small field of riders were just left to stand in a field to the North East of the meet whilst the hunt and hounds headed south along the River Stort towards Netherhills Plantation. With sabs each side of him, the Huntsman decided to leave the comfort of the saddle and take the hounds on foot into the plantation. No idea how any trail was layed and when asked, he replied that he was teaching the hounds to cast to a trail. What he didn't see was the two foxes that broke free on the south side seen by our driver from the road. It seems like he has no idea how trail hunting or training hounds works so this hunt definitely needs a sab presence. After realising that the 12 or so footsabs with them weren't going anywhere the hunt decided to head back to the meet. Nipping off in front only to be met by sabs heading them off they gave in. Less than 2 hours out and leaving their field to stand about, I can't see this hunt lasting long. Until next time

Unfortunately, we were too late for one mole that innocently tunneled their way into one of these traps.

However, this mix of fenn and scissor traps that we found dug into the ground won't be killing any more wildlife.

Today was a day of finding unlogged, undiscovered and untouched setts. The cull in our local zones has been extended and our boots haven't had the chance to dry for 6 weeks already. We're tired, wet and the days are getting increasingly shorter. Boots on the ground is key to protect our striped friends. Please support us and our campaign to keep these beautiful animals alive.

The 6 week long government approved slaughter of our badgers is drawing to an end.

They can, and most probably will, extended their culling licenses to reach the higher target figures in each zone. In response to this, we will extend our efforts into sabotaging their unscientific and unjustifiable bloodbath.

We will carry on emptying your bait points, we will carry on chasing the shooters and we will carry on finding your cages. Most of all, we will carry on fighting for our wildlife to be free from harm.

F**k the cull and everyone involved.

Keep us fighting: https://ko-fi.com/midlandswildlifeaction 🦡

***Afternoon cubbing meet packed up, no kills***
It was a late start for The Meynell and South Staffordshire Hunt today with around 25 field riders leaving Old Hall, Dunstall in East Staffordshire at around 3.30pm.

Sabs interrupted them drawing a covert, but new huntsman Robert just hasn't got the same instinct to openly hunt with sabs in tow as he did last season as whip. Seems even this twice convinced hunt feels less secure in the current climate and might be running scared.

He kept the hounds moving swiftly as soon as sabs arrived which was fine with us as we kept up nicely. Finally losing those lockdown pounds, thanks for that Robert.
A lot of running, lost hounds and loitering to gather them is becoming the common theme of the Meynell this season.

The new whip attempted to keep the hounds out of anywhere they shouldn't be with sabs keeping a close eye, possibly helped by knowing the horn blower in today's team has a great track record of taking the hounds from an embarrassed Robert if the hounds stray too far.

The terriermen seem to have been informed that assaulting sabs is so 2019 which is also a plus, probably based on them being even more of a "soft underbelly" if the assault charges keep racking up.
Keep it up lads, life is so much nicer if we all get along.

We'll continue saying hi to the Meynell and keeping them on the straight and narrow quite a bit this season. See you soon gang, you know you're leakier than a sieve when it comes to sabs getting meets. 🙃

Shout out to our friends at Calder Valley Hunt Saboteurs Manchester Hunt Sabs Staffordshire Hunt Sabs Humberside Against Blood Sports for the awesome teamwork today.

13/10/2021

Today we found the Cheshire Forest actively hunting woodland near Crowton - sabs immediately moved the hunt along which set the precedent for the rest of the morning, with huntsman Tom Wright trying and failing to keep control of his hounds.

It wouldn't be a Forest meet without a predictably tense trot along a busy road (this time without any vehicles or members of the hunt ahead to signal oncoming traffic) - thankfully they got away with dicing with hounds' lives yet again as the hunt made their slow way back to the meet at Onston.

Sabs stayed with the hunt as they moved along Crewood towards Bent Lane, the unfortunate Tom infuriating even the usual supporting locals, one of whom informed us the hunt wouldn't be returning on his land any time soon.

Better get your act together Tom and think back to the glory days of no sabs just before your arrival when Forest had actually become a legitimate trail hunt. No animals in danger = no sabs, just a tip.

Despite the huntsman's temper tantrum when sabs removed hounds from under his nose yet again adjacent to the meet, overall it was an uneventful morning, and we saw them to the meet at 11 with no known kills and certainly no animals harmed since we located them at Big Wood.

We're so happy to have been part of the rescue of this stunning barn owl - we have seen footage of their release yesterday, a fortnight after we found them in a field too exhausted to fly or even feed themselves.

Thank you so much to the rescue which took them in and brought them back from the brink! You can help us continue to support them by sending us a Ko-fi with the comment OWL, and most importantly always let a local rescuer know if you find an animal in distress, and help capture them if safe to do so 🦉🖤🦉

And a big thanks to those who already donated towards this owl's care and who continue to support us in our work x

This isn't an anomaly. This is the reality of 'trail' hunts the length of the country. These trusting dogs (the hunt hate us not calling them 'hounds', but f**k the hunt) are the friendliest and sweetest natured you will ever see. And as soon as they are useless to the hunt, they are shot. It's not a myth, it's legalised animal abuse.

Are we really the ones who are seen as the "extremists"? Are we the people who need locking up or policing? How can a group of people fighting against this type of s**t be the ones in the wrong? This is gamekeeping. This is "countryside management". This is f**king disgusting. Don't be shocked at what you may see when looking around the countryside, it's full of scum.

03/10/2021

Did you know this weekend is the start of the pheasant shooting season? Up to 146 000 will be killed every day until February, spending the bulk of their lives in tiny pens until they are flushed through woodland by beaters or dogs, and fly terrified through the air to towards a sea of idiots with flat caps and guns.

In the 70s 'just' 4 million pheasants were killed a year, however presently over 50 million are released to die, millions transported live or as eggs from overseas.

This is not conservation, this is violence. It is not tradition, it's cruelty and idiocy.

Countless more animals are killed in snares or traps because the goons in this industry want to put on a good show for their paying customers. Cats, dogs, hares and other small creatures are all at risk if they approach these traps, in addition to the foxes, crows and stoats they target.

More vulnerable species including hen harriers and even peregrine falcons are endangered by gamekeeping practices and indiscriminate shooting.

Please tip us off or your local sab group if you come across a shoot, and most importantly, share your concern with your local councillors and MPs so this environmental and welfare scandal may finally be ended.

Hit Report. 02/10/21
Today we decided to mix it up a bit and visit The Cheshire Forest Hunt who were meeting on the Cheshire View, Mow Cop.
It was a wet morning and the small field of riders looked particularly miserable but like the dedicated, bloodthirsty crew that they are they cracked on regardless.

Leaving the meet to the west they headed towards Limekiln and Baytree Farms. Clearly these two farms are more than happy to encourage illegal hunting on their land which with so many dedicated sab groups in the area they may want to rethink - definitely land that we'll be keeping an eye on.

As the field and hunt headed NE towards the very busy A34 at Astbury we were genuinely gobsmacked that this hunt would be taking dozens of loose dogs on such a dangerous road. In the typical entitled fashion we have all become accustomed to with fox hunts, they stopped traffic and headed SW towards Moreton Fisheries.

Taking the hounds through a shooting estate it was inevitable that one of them would kill a pheasant, which they did in front of sabs. The farmers allowing the hunt on their land are assured all hounds are 'stock trained' and no danger to pets, chickens or any other farmed animals. After today's debacle local landowners may want to rethink their relationship with the hunt.

After a quick circumnavigation of a couple of fields, they headed back onto the A34 yet again stopping traffic. A quick flit through the grounds of Great Moreton Hall they headed East back towards Baytree Farm. It seemed like everywhere they went, sabs were there hampering their efforts. After a very helpful, hunt supporting landowner told us that there was no trail layer and there was no trail we believe that the CFH are a hunt to watch this season. Heading back up the hill to the meet it was mission complete for us with no foxes or hares harmed.

What kind of psychos string up owls and pheasants on barbed wire? A badger-killing cage was found in this spot in a previous cull and these birds have made an appearance as we sett survey this year - we assume they think that this type of scummery will keep antis away.

*OWL UPDATE*

This little friend has made it through the night.

Our local wildlife rescue has checked them over after we came across them in a hedgerow yesterday. They have been given fluids, food and pain relief and are now getting some rest in an incubator to keep them warm and will likely be heading to a vet today. This little beaut is too skinny and was exhausted last night when we brought them in, so please keep your fingers crossed for their recovery 🦉🤞.

If anyone is able to donate to the care/rehabilitation of this bird, please leave a reference as Owl whilst donating a kofi. All donations will go to the care of the owl.

After leaving their tiny field waiting in the pouring rain for half an hour this morning, and faced with a car full of sabs, Robert & Jonathon Jarret of the North Staffs Hunt decided on a slow, soggy ride back to the kennels. Sorry to spoil your fun, chaps.

A nice easy morning for us and mates that came to help out.

Time to warm up and get out in our cull zones. 🦊🦡
