It's important to break the stigma on why dogs wear muzzles.
In our research with 340 veterinary professionals, 76% said that when a dog is wearing a muzzle, they feel more relaxed, and examinations are more efficient as muzzles can calm some anxious dogs.
It's not just about protection from aggressive dogs, it's about providing a safety blanket for all dogs for that just-in-case moment. It's about making uncomfortable situations, more comfortable. It's about responsible dog ownership!

Here's our vet specialist explaining why it's important to muzzle train every dog.
Why do you think it's important for dogs to be muzzle trained?
And that's why we don't use silicone... 👀
These soft, squishy, competitor muzzles are NOT bite-proof.
Baskerville's TPR muzzles are sturdy enough to offer protection from bites but lightweight enough to keep your dog comfortable!
TPR is also a safer alternative than a metal muzzle, in case a dog attacks or "muzzle punches" into you or another dog. Plus, they're strong enough to withstand a brick weighing 3.3kg (0.5 stone / 7.2 lbs).
It's a no-brainer, right?

Wearing a muzzle goes beyond safety for aggressive dogs, it's about training, prevention and comfortability.
Why does your dog wear a muzzle? 🐶
Debunking common muzzle myths 🔍
Misconception 1: Muzzles are only used to prevent dogs from biting.
Reality: Muzzles can be used for various reasons, such as preventing dogs from eating harmful items, during grooming, or in stressful situations.
Misconception 2: A dog wearing a muzzle has bitten someone in the past.
Reality: Not all muzzled dogs have a history of biting. Some owners use muzzles as a precautionary measure or for specific situations.
Misconception 3: My dog is friendly, so there's no reason to muzzle your dog.
Reality: Every dog is different. Some dogs may be anxious, reactive, or have specific triggers. Muzzles can be a safety tool in unpredictable environments.
Misconception 4: Muzzles are cruel.
Reality: When properly used, muzzles are a humane way to ensure safety and prevent unwanted behaviours. It helps save lives of some dogs, giving them a second chance and allows them to be retrained.
Remember, muzzles are a responsible and considerate tool for dog owners.

Fabric muzzles might seem like a quick fix, but they come with serious drawbacks. They restrict your dog's ability to pant, drink, and even breathe comfortably. Plus, they are not bite-proof, putting you, your dog and others at risk.
Choose Baskerville & opt for a muzzle that has your dog's safety and comfort in mind.

Yogi's Story 🫶🐶
After being abandoned, Al Mayya K9 Adoptions took Yogi in to give him a second chance at life.
Although initially, he displayed no signs of reactiveness, once he started integrating with the other dogs at the rescue centre, there was an incident in which he reacted to another dog.
By introducing Yogi to the muzzle, the team at @AlMayya were able to support his integration with other dogs in a much more protected way, keeping him and their other dogs safe whilst maintaining his training journey.
No dog should go without another chance! This is exactly the reason Dr Roger Mugford created the Baskerville, to give dogs as many chances in life as possible.

Find the training tool that works for your dog!
@perfectdogtraining shares with us her top tip for muzzle training if your dog is backing away or reluctant to put their nose into the muzzle.
Emily uses a role of sellotape as a tool to recreate the sensation of the muzzle around the dog's face, whilst keeping the treat and herself completely visible. Rewarding frequently, once the dog is comfortable, you can progress to the muzzle - reverting back to the sellotape if at any point they become overwhelmed or fearful.
