This is one of our new boarders, 23 yo gelding. The pics are 17 days apart and he's already made tremendous improvement with his weight, gaits and overall disposition! We are so proud to be able to help in bringing him back to his old self again. We will continue to post pics of his progress, so stay tuned!!

It is sad to hear that there are barns closing in our area.

If you are, or know of anyone, who has found themselves needing to find alternate board options, we have two stalls availalbe.

Trailer parking available, but no need to trailer to ride on immaculate groomed trails because we have access to the most amazing private trails you could imagine!

We are off the beaten path but still close to everything:

In addition to standard full board, we are happy to provide retirement board options as well. Who doesn't love the old guys?? We take great pride in the fact that we've successfully lengthened the sustainable lives of many sweet old boys and even improved on their weight, mindset and mobility.

Poor Haven Ranch is a small private barn in a tranquil setting in Ware, MA, providing top-notch care. The owner has over 40 years of experience with horses and has managed a large boarding facility with lessons, summer camps & training. The horses receive exceptional care and are fed ample amounts of quality hay and provided with high-end, quality feed. Meals are tailored to meet the needs of each horse, and are modified as the horses needs change.

FULL BOARD FOR GELDINGS ONLY, NO EXCEPTIONS SO DON’T ASK.

We will be only accepting geldings and owners that are the right fit for our facility. This is not a first come first serve situation, I will be very selective about the people and horses who are invited to board with us. I spent years boarding myself, and was never happy with what was available and I could never find an affordable barn, with pasture turnout (yes, with actual grass that my horse would be out in for more than a couple hours a day), and ample private storage for my gear.

I was always worried about the care of my horse, and wondered what would be going on when I wasn’t there; and I would get tired of finding that someone had helped themselves to my equipment.

I would get frustrated that barn hours were so restrictive and that I could not use the vet and farrier that I have developed relationships with and whom I trust with my horse.

I want to make a difference for a few good people and give others a chance to have the boarding experience that I could not find.

• 12x10 matted stalls with individual run outs & dutch doors for inclimate weather
o Clean ample bedding in stalls
o Horse stall fans, specifically rated for outdoor use

• Deworming program included

• Individual locking tack closets with saddle racks, bridle hooks, shelving and room for a tack trunk.
• Large outdoor matted wash rack
• Daily turn out
o Usually 10 – 16 hrs of turnout (weather dependent)
o Large pastures with group turnout
o Secure electric fencing and substantial wooden paddocks
• Outdoor dressage arena with rubber footing
• Oversized 70 foot round pen with rubber footing
• Miles of groomed trails directly from property
• Room for trailer parking
• Any trainer, farrier or vet is welcome – no restrictions

$550 / month – Full Board

$650 / month – Full Care Board - Retirement Board

We do not offer rough board.

For the first time in history, the World Clydesdale Show is not only being held outside of North America, but it is being held in Aberdeen, Scotland; the country the Clydesdale originated from. It is being held now through October 23rd and tickets are available via live stream. Please take the opportunity to watch at least some of this event and witness this amazing breed in action!!

I watched the opening ceremonies last night and wish I had counted the number of countries being represented but it had to be around ten. Very impressive response!!!

In the late 1960's / early 1970's the breed was classified as Endangered and was at risk of becoming extinct. Through education, breeding and the love of this breed the numbers have increased and are now in the At Risk category.

This is one of the most versatile and intelligent breeds of horses I've had the pleasure of dealing with, they truly are very unique and amazing animals to be around.

Most of you don't know that my sweet, goofy Legion (DLR Allegiance) participated in the World Clydesdale Show in 2018 as a yearling and came in 8th with his then owner Dean Raemisch. This is his picture at that show. I doubt we will be back to showing at that level, but you never know what the future holds!

I am not one to boast, but for once I need to.

Hands down, I have THE BEST barn family of people & equines anyone could ask for!!

I had a random accident and have been in a wheelchair, house bound for 8 weeks, and a long way to go, but with the remarkable support if my non-horsey half and barn family, things have gone so smoothly.... and we've had FOUR new equine arrivals & 3 new people come into the barn life with almost seamlessness!

Thank you all for what you do & who you are!!!
