Not every dog enjoys the snow and cold weather. I have had several calls recently that involve a dog struggling with stiffness due to the cold temperatures we have been experiencing. Massage is a wonderful tool that can be used to decrease or rid your dog of this stiffness. Massage works the muscles. It decreases the friction and increases the circulation, helping your dog to move more easily. Please consider helping your dog be more comfortable during this cold snap. With the cold weather upon us, our older pups may be finding it a little more difficult to get around. Stiffness from the cold or general weakness may be making it difficult for your dog to get up and move around. Massage may be able to help your dog. Circulation is the #1 benefit of canine massage. Working late into the evening again tonight. I can't believe how early it's getting dark. Just had two back to back massages with two wonderful dogs. It makes it worth the effort and the long days to see the progress they have made and how comfortable and relaxed they are.

Hello Healing Hands Pet Massage Followers! Just a note to let you know June and July’s appointments have been awesome and Healing Hands Pet Massage continues to grow everyday. I have spent quality time with my regulars and have begun to see the wonderful benefits of massage! That has to be the most rewarding part of the job…to know you helped a dog enjoy a better quality of life.
I have also had the opportunity to meet some new clients that are now working their way into a two week rotation. I am very pleased for the opportunity to work long term with these dogs!
Unfortunately, I had my first End of Life Massage. I had an unusual request to go to an Amish farm where a six year old girl’s puppy was facing the end of his life. The father had done all he could to save the pup even though it is customary to let it be “God’s will”. The pup had been key in helping his young girl hurdle some physical and emotional obstacles in her life. The little girl was NOT sleeping because the pup could not relax and she perceived this to mean he (the dog) was scared to go to Heaven. I did massage the pup and taught the little girl some light techniques to help relax the pup before bed that night. The pup wasn’t expected to make it through the night. The father updated last week and said the pup remained relaxed and passed peacefully beside it’s young, sleeping owner. The little girl is doing well, all considered, and her father says she sees it as the pup was ready to go because he was “relaxed” about making the journey.
Summertime has also brought some outdoor massages, which are always fun. My schedule is running well into the evenings, since I work a full time day job. One Friday night, I was out considerably late massaging a basset hound beside the family campfire. The family reported she was older and had recently given birth. They felt the pregnancy and birthing was a little rough on her and just wanted her to feel better with a massage!
So, whether you are a regular customer, a one time customer or a customer that has a special request, I will do my best to help your dog benefit from massage.
My August hours will remain the same. Monday thru Thursday 7p.m. - 9p.m. and Fridays 7p.m. - 10p.m.
Cost is $40 per session for new clients. Specials that are currently in place for regulars still apply AND I have been known to throw discounts out now and again!!!!
Jump into August with an appointment! Shoot me a message! I will be working on the August schedule this week.

One of my loyal customers, Henry, is always ready for his massage! Henry will run to his bed and plop down...he knows the routine!
At first, your dog may move around and that is totally ok. After about 3 massages it clicks with them and they will be ready and waiting!!!
Remember: massages can benefit all dogs. It enhances general well being in healthy dogs and assists in healing and aids in building strength if your older dog is experiencing weakness. Give it a try!

I have spent countless hours studying canine massage therapy. Learning every bone, every muscle, every organ and every landmark on a dog's body. I have practiced hand position and techniques over and over and then some. Openings, closings, light, medium and heavy pressure treatments. I added studies and a certificate in dog/cat cpr and pet psychology.
Now, finals week is just days away. I feel I have accomplished everything possible to get this far. The next couple days I will relax a little and prepare for an intense week coming up. Once I complete my final exam and practical (following the last day of final classes) I do believe I will crash!
When I'm up and moving again, I will work on wrapping up the business end. That also has come a very long way! Open date of May 1st is still looking very promising!
Due to an intense class schedule and exams I probably will not post again until I have my certification in hand.
I look forward to working with your fur babies very soon!

Peek-a-boo!!! Hey, its me...Rudy!
I'm just busy acting up!! My Mom is trying to concentrate on her canine massage studies this weekend. Mom says final classes and testing are just around the corner. She seems a little stressed so I figured it was time to get involved!! I have my toys and blankets everywhere so she doesnt have to search for them. I've reminded her about food, water and TREATS. I also took her for 2 walks so far today. I'm hoping she appreciates my help...that way she can focus on the books and not on me!!!!

Good Morning Healing Hands fans! Just a note to let you know things are going as planned and everything is on track for opening May 1st. I spent much of yesterday working on getting the business end of things in order. Much of it is complete so it's back to focusing on my upcoming tests! I am so excited to start. Healing Hands is gaining substantial interest by the day!
Coming soon will be pamphlets filled with info on the massage to help answer any questions more thoroughly and quickly. The business phone is in place. A date will be released for taking appointments in the near future. May you all have a good day!
