❄️ 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗶𝗽: 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘯𝘰𝘸 & 𝘐𝘤𝘦 𝘉𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥-𝘜𝘱 𝘪𝘯 𝘏𝘰𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘴 ❄️

With snow and ice on the way, it’s important to 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲’𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 to keep them comfortable and safe. Here are a few tips to prevent snowballs and ice from building up, whether your horse is shod or barefoot:

𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘀:
🔹 𝘚𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘗𝘢𝘥𝘴: Consider having your farrier install snow pads. These specialized pads prevent snow from packing into the hoof.
🔹 𝘏𝘰𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘳 𝘚𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘺: Apply a thin layer of non-stick cooking spray, petroleum jelly, or a specialized hoof grease to the bottom of the hoof. This creates a barrier and reduces snow buildup.
🔹 𝘊𝘩𝘦𝘤𝘬 𝘋𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘺: Monitor hooves and clean them regularly to prevent ice from accumulating.

𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗼𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘀:
🔹 Barefoot horses typically don’t have as much sn*******ng as shod horses, but snow can still pack in certain conditions. Applying 𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘧 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘴𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘺 can help here too!
🔹 𝘊𝘩𝘦𝘤𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘺 to ensure they’re clear and healthy during winter conditions.

🌟 𝘊𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘏𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘴 (𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘢 𝘋𝘢𝘺 𝘓𝘢𝘵𝘦!) 🐴✨

Yesterday was National Day of the Horse, and while I may have missed the calendar date, 𝗺𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀. Horses have been more than companions to me—they’ve been teachers, healers, and the greatest reminder of life’s beauty in its challenges.

𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗺𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗮, 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘆𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗱. 💫
He’s a 13-year-old registered Quarter Horse with reining bloodlines, though he made it clear early on that arena work isn’t his style. Hollywood is happiest blazing trails and exploring the great outdoors—a true adventurer at heart.

Our journey together hasn’t been without its trials. At just 5, Hollywood was diagnosed with EPM, a neurological disease that brought uncertainty and years of challenges. It took 3 years of dedication, learning, and sheer persistence to figure out how to keep him healthy and thriving.

But through it all, Hollywood has taught me so much more than horsemanship. He’s 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦, 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘶𝘯𝘸𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵. He’s the kind of horse you can trust with your life—a solid partner who’ll take care of you every step of the way.

And let’s be real—he’s not just a caretaker; he’s also a charmer. A player with the ladies, a lover at heart, and yes, quite the handsome guy if I do say so myself. 😍

🌬️🐴 Keep Winter Hydration Flowing! 🐴🌬️

Winter is here, and with it comes the need for extra attention to our horses’ hydration. Did you know that ensuring your horse drinks enough water in cold weather is crucial to their health? 💧❄️

🐎 Horses naturally drink less when the water is ice-cold, but adequate water intake is essential to prevent dehydration and reduce the risk of colic. That’s where a heated water trough comes in! By keeping the water at an ideal temperature, we encourage our furbabies to drink more, even on the chilliest of days.

✨ A warm drink for your horse may not be as cozy as a hot chocolate for us, but it’s just as important! Here at the ranch, we prioritize their health and comfort by using heated troughs to keep the water flowing (and free from ice!). 🐾💕

🐾 Brave Little Barn Kittens at Their 2nd Vet Visit! 🐾

Laurel and Vallah made us so proud today—they were absolute rockstars at their check-up! Laurel, our sweet and shy little lady, surprised us by turning into quite the snuggle bug. (We’re just going to assume it’s all me she loves, and not just the safe lap! 😆)

It’s amazing to watch these two grow braver and more confident every day. Here’s to more snuggles, purrs, and healthy adventures ahead! 🐱💖
