I am 20 years old and currently on my third of four years with Hartpury University, studying BSc Hons Equine Performance and Rehabilitation. I have previously worked with ex racehorses, hunters, showjumpers, riding school horses, with an Olympic-level eventer, and more, with an age range of 2 years old to 28 years old.

🐴 (almost) No Pony Too Small! 🐴
Have a pony that’s turning into a field ornament? A child’s pony left to sit a little too long? Tricky, quirky, or just green? A pony that just needs a little more work?

What a morning for it! ☀️
I know I don’t stop talking about this little grey pony, but every time I work with him I am genuinely shocked by how much he has improved from even the day before! 🤯
Every ride he settles more than he did the ride before, is still happy to go out in front or behind all on his own, and never spooks- even when the other horses we’re out do! Seeing progress like this really makes everything we do worth it 😊 And working in places as beautiful as this is definitely a lovely bonus 😍
So lovely to have cool enough days and nights at the moment to have the horses completely naked 🤩

Another quiet hack on a lovely pony from last week 🐎
This was one very concerned, then very very happy horse playing in the river on Saturday 🤩
We started by trying to ride across, then, when he decided the ankle-deep water was most definitely going to jump up and swallow him alive, I dismounted and led him across (very glad I chose to wear my waterproof yard boots!). Once he realised it wasn’t a shiny monster and was, in fact, a super fun splashy stream, he let me climb back on board whilst in the river. We walked back and forth a few times (can’t forget stopping for a final snack and a drink 🤭) before heading home with an excited spring in his step 🐴
RCD Equine Services is super privileged to be able to ride such mature and quiet horses, who have a look at things and have the occasional spook, but take it in their stride and always learn from it 😊 On that note, we are open to riding any horse or pony- get in contact to discuss how we can help you and your horse!
Made a few stops on our trip to play in the river today at The Mill at Glynhir and Glynhir Golf Club. It’s so beneficial for horses to be able to see and experience lots of new things, especially for their mind and their confidence 🐴
This pony just continues to impress! Another week of handling him resulting in another successful ride 🤩
From unable to leave his field buddy to a long hack with two horses much bigger than him, and being totally unphased the entire time. He didn’t look twice at anything and was completely happy at the front, at the back, in the middle, and sandwiched in between. After the first ride we thought it was a matter of not being able to cope with working mentally, but now it’s clear he thoroughly enjoys himself 😁🐴

Another day, another pony to work 🐎
May weekends are made for riding in view of Carreg Cennen Castle ☀️
3 weeks ago this pony couldn’t make it 200m off the yard without going up and over. This was him on Thursday, behaving like a completely different pony 🤩 He felt confident enough in himself to be able to ride behind, alongside, and in front of the horse with us, and even canter ahead across a field on his own!
RCD Equine Services is quite fortunate to be small enough to ride almost any pony, and confident and experienced enough to be able to help work on greener / naughtier ponies and horses.
A break from the sun means time to get naked! 🤣 The horses seem to be loving this cooler weather now that the flies have settled down 🤩🪰
Already missing the lovely weather we had over the weekend ☀️ Where has that sunshine gone ?!

There's few benefits to being short, but one definitely includes being able to start the day on 17hh hunters and finish on a pony! RCD Equine Services is available for weekday riding services in Ross on Wye/Monmouth and surrounding areas 🏇🏼
