When working with animals, stripping your ego is imperitive. Sometimes Blue here needs a moment to process before she registers what I am asking and what that means from her end. Generally she takes anywhere from 1-5 seconds before she performs the cue as the brain gets to work. And, hey, sometimes an itch takes over and she's gotta attend to that midway through performing. Never punish your dog for these moments. Strip your ego away â its okay if someone (including a doggo!) doesn't validate your requests immediately, they've got their own stuff going on. Remember we don't control our dogs we influence them. Let your doggo move through whatever is distracting them, and try again when they can focus. Training should be fun!!!! Don't spoil a good time and experience for your dog by letting your complex get the best of you. Happy training âď¸

My doggo is obsessed with laundry and I donât blame her one bit
Often we misinterpret a wagging tail to mean a dog is happy. The lip licks, whale eye, avoidance of eye contact, yawning and slumped body posture indicate stress & anxiety.
Be cognizant when you take your dog to public spaces with lots of strangers petting them and other dogs that this + a new environment may stress your dog out. Dogs are loving but they may not love everyone entering their personal space without letting them warm up to it. Let your dog choose whether they want to engage. Advocate for them in these situations and make sure you show them you will protect them
Despite what we think, sometimes even though we enjoy having our dogs with us at restaurants and bars our dogs are being ignored because we have other things demanding our attention or our dogs are overwhelmed with the stimuli. Understand your dogs personal boundaries and slowly build through positive reinforcement and counter-conditioning that they can trust you and their environment and dont push for progress too quickly
Happy training âď¸
