It's a crisp morning, early sun rays filtering through the sparse leaves in the trees 🍂🍁 The chilly breeze fills your nostrils with the scent of autumn as you start to hook up your team. They're eager to go. Wagging tails and excited barks. You can feel it too - the adrenaline in the air. The rush of the adventure that lies ahead.
After all, this is what you live for.
It's in these moments, the ones filled with anticipation, that we realize our dogs rely on us as much as we rely on them as mushers. We want to ensure their happiness, health, and peak performance simply because we love and care for them ❤️
A big part of that - of being a responsible musher - is learning how to keep your dogs safe. To understand the risks of our sport, and make sure we do everything in our power to avoid them. This is exactly why experienced mushers spend so much time observing our dogs. As well as thermometers and hygrometers 🌡☁️
You see, temperatures and humidity aren’t just numbers for us. They are, in fact, the silent influencers of our dogs' safety.
Understanding the relation between the two can be the whole difference between an adventure where everyone stays safe and healthy, and an adventure that ends in tragedy.
This is why we're here to share our knowledge. Not only as seasoned mushers, but as fellow dog lovers, humbly learning from our own experiences. We pass our lessons on, so that YOU won't have to learn them the hard way.

I recently had to go away for a few days. Whilst I was away there was a carnival. Part of the carnivals procession were the local firefighters, one of which was my friend who took time out to stop and give her a hug. took this picture. This picture mean so much to me as it shows the love people have, not just for Velvet, but for all animals. Steve stopped to hug Velvet. He needn’t have but he did.

We must also be aware NOT to push our fears onto our dogs. They aren’t born ‘afraid of big dogs’, or ‘scared of motorcycles’. How we react around our dogs can negatively influence their behaviour.

She was my ‘furry wife’. We taught each other so much and was pivotal in helping me with all my others. I still miss her everyday and wish she was still here to have experienced all we have since she left. She would have been 18 today. I love Paige, and always will. X

Yesterday we had the company of this lovely fella. He was so excited all day that it took almost seven hours to drain his energy enough for a nap, half hour before his Mum came for him 😂😂
