I haven’t updated in awhile due to moving to our new farm in VA!

Here is a new personal project/training horse of mine. Princess Peach is a 6 year old AQHA mare. She was a trail horse for a couple years, and was most recently an English pony. However she has some nasty problems that like to pop up when she doesn’t get her way. Her biggest issue under saddle right now is rearing and bucking when asked to lope. Needless to say, it’s not an easy going rear either 😅 Her ground work has been much improved over the last week that she’s been with me. The rearing, kicking, and biting at the lead when tied is almost gone!

I can’t wait to see the improvement this mare makes!

Update on mustang Thorin! This boy was progressing leaps and bounds until it came time to actually put the saddle on his back. He is terrified of looking at it while it’s sitting on him. He also had a bad habit of when he’s scared, he ducks out and runs, no regard to pressure on his halter. Hes learned he’s big enough to pull the rope out of your hand. So an exercise I did with him yesterday, was pony him.

Ponying him helped him understand, that every time he’s wants to check out, he can’t. Bets here is much stronger than me holding onto him. He also settled down a whole lot about seeing something come across his back and change eyes. And I spent a lot of time leaning over his back and petting his whole body from the back of another horse.

It was a beautiful day here at the farm for training! This week I have had several client horses come in for training, with more on the way. These are a few that are currently here! I love my job ❤️

This will probably be one of my last updates on mustang, Spice. She is finally ready to go home, and will be meeting her family for the first time this weekend!

Today was her first time ever seeing the bridge. She’s really coming out of her shell and starting to figure out the obstacles can be quite fun! She’s such a sweet heart. After being here with me for 60 days, (only worked for about 5-6 weeks due to me being sick a lot), she is haltering, leading, able to be caught in a bigger paddock, picking up front feet, grooming, and trailering.

The only thing that we haven’t gotten down is picking up back feet with my hands. She’s still uncomfortable with me walking past her shoulder. So I decided if she would let me pick up her back feet with a rope with ease, I wouldn’t push her farther for the sake of a time frame. Her owner will continue working on the back feet when she goes home.

Overall I am so proud of this now, 10 year old mare. She’s exceeded my expectations for what to expect for an older mustang mare.

I haven’t been very consistent with keeping updates on my training guys 🤦🏼‍♀️ Spice the mustang is coming along nicely. She was haltered on day 28, and is haltering, leading, and desensitized to the flag as of day 32.

Something she’s still worried about is me being in her personal space to pet her with my hand. She allows it but isn’t comfortable. She’s totally okay with being touched with ropes, flags, and whips all over her body. Being petted and groomed is something that I will continue to work on with this girl.

I love that she isn’t an overly reactive horse. She’s never offered to bite, kick, or charge, like most of the mustang mares tend to do.

A small update on the 9 year old mustang mare. “Spice” as she has been named by her owner. Spice had been in holding most of her life. She was adopted on the BLMs internet adoption site. After being adopted, her owner decided to send her to me for some gentling.

Spice has been with me for three weeks now and I’m just now seeing some breakthroughs with her. She was a very curious mare from the start, following me in the pen, and touching my hand with her nose. However as most mustang mares tend to be, touching was an absolute no no. After three weeks she finally started allowing me to pet her with the stick. This is a video from yesterday’s big breakthrough. Shortly after this, she started allowing touch with my hand all over her neck.

Today I walked in and within 5 minutes I was petting her all over the neck and almost all of her face. It’s amazing to me once these mustangs start having those “ah ha” moments. I can’t wait to see how quickly she starts coming around now!

A new super cute mare that’s in for training. Princesses owner had a different request for what type of training he wanted me to do with her. He requested some trick training.

Trick training is not something that I’ve focused very much on. I’m excited to get to do something a little different with this mare. Short clip from today, working on side passing toward me. Eventually it’ll be used for mounting, or just something fun and simple to show off.

If anyone would like a how to video, I would be more than happy to make one if I can get enough interest!

Leo’s glow up transformation pictures! Leo the little mustang finally found his forever home today after 6 months ❤️

I picked Leo out to be a TIP horse earlier this year. After he came home it was apparent he had some serious issues going on. He couldn’t eat properly and kept losing weight. After a couple months of gentling work he was able to be seen by an equine dentist. At that point in time he was not gentle enough to be fully sedated. A couple more months of work went by and he was finally able to have all those nasty dental issues addressed and fixed.

The last couple of months have been back and forth playing with different feeds, supplements, and different hays, to find the perfect mix for this guy to thrive on.

Today after all the hard work put in to this little guy, he has found his happy ever after with his new family.

He also blew my mind away today. He had never been on a trailer since being run on 6 months ago. He walked right up and jumped in like a seasoned show horse. To your happy ever after Leo ❤️

(Required Post)

is now in the home stretch. We have a week and a half left before we leave to compete at the in Winfield, WV. It’s been a real journey with this mare. Here are some things you need to know if you are looking at Pico for an adoption candidate👇🏻

🌼Pico is 12 years old and around 14.2-14.3 hands tall. She is a Morgan cross, She’s very thick built.

🌼Pico is going to require an advanced rider in an arena setting and a advanced intermediate rider on the trail. She needs a quiet and patient rider.

🌼Her happy place is not in the arena. She will work for you however long you ask, but you can tell it’s not where her heart is. When being asked to do tedious things, such as obstacles and fancy arena stuff, she can get pretty amped up and in her own head.

🌼She really enjoys trail riding and just pleasure riding around. She also enjoys driving!

🌼She’s done a little bit of everything. She trail rides, has been doing obstacles, she’s been introduced to jumping in the arena and on cross country, and she has also been used for pulling (not to a cart yet).

🌼She has really great ground manners. She knows how to ground tie and I’ve almost solidified her picking up her feet on voice command. She trailers like a dream as well.

🌼It’s not too late to apply to adopt her! Please message me with any questions about this lovely lady ❤️

Some of the back side of starting mustangs under saddle. I haven’t shared much about Mac the mustang. He’s been with me for a month now being started under saddle. He’s been a happy guy for the most part with occasional bucking here and there (not when I’m on him). He has been ridden in the round pen in the halter several times just at the walk.

This week was time to add the bridle. Once the bridle was added, I always ground drive before I ride again. He absolutely explodes when the ropes touch him the wrong way or if he feels trapped with the pressure. All this week I’ve taken it back to ground zero just working on roping him and letting him figure it out. This was from today’s session. We finally ended on a really good note, so hoping for better answers from him next week!

Also the rope is made of very soft yacht rope. It isn’t tight on him at all. He’s just getting used to packing it and letting it touch him in different places.

’s first day in the cross country field. She jumped her first few logs and is very brave to them. She would be the cutest little jumper pony 😍 however she’s very forward, so she needs a strong rider to match with her in jumping.

Also side note-Look at that mane!❤️ it’s grown so much over the last 60 days.

(Sound on)

Required post for . Pico has been progressing by leaps and bounds lately. I am so happy with her. She’s now a much happier, relaxed partner. She’s been exposed to quite a bit of stuff lately and will be making her first show debut within the next week or so! If anyone is interested in adopting Pico at the auction, feel free to message me!

Little Leo’s first time on the trail obstacles! Leo has been with me in the mustang heritage foundations TIP program for the last few months. He has been put on the back burner a bit because he has not found a person to call his own 😔 He is halfway through his gentling requirements and he is going to be such a cool little guy.

If anyone is looking to add a new member to their family please message me for info on how to adopt Leo! He deserves a loving home who understands how to train properly and be patient with him.

Another new face! This is Solomon, a 13 year old Trakehner gelding. He will be here with me in training for a bit, then he’ll be available for sale!

Right now he needs to learn ALOT of manners. He a big jerk right now as he’s used to getting his way with things. Under saddle he’s a great guy and has some experience show jumping. He needs to learn some focus under saddle however. I’m excited to bring this boy along and get him going in the right direction!

Welcome Grand Candy to the farm! He is a 7 year old OTTB stallion. He was a true warhorse on the track. With my other RRP prospect sustaining the facial injury, this guy may be second in line to go if Bubbles doesn’t recover. He is a total beef cake! I can’t wait to retrain this fine fellow. He started his ground work training today. Saddle training will follow soon!

Just an update on my Retired Racehorse Project hopeful Bubbles ❤️ A month ago Bubbles came in from morning turnout with a droopy lip and left side of his face. He almost looked like he had a stroke. Upon vet checks, hospitals, and weeks worth of medications, come to find out he severed a nerve in the lower side of his face (vet thinks a pasture mate kicked him). His left nostril is now collapsed and the left side of his mouth and tongue will always droop. Thankfully the vet cleared him for lower level riding and showing. Nothing that will make breathing difficult for him. We are still hopeful that we can make it together to the RRP, but things aren’t looking super great. Keep my sweet boy in your prayers. He will be with me forever one way or another

*Mandatory post*

Another update on . Yesterday she had body work done for the first time. At first she was pretty nervous then realized she absolutely loved it! It was the most relaxed I’ve ever seen her. She does seem to have some places on her spine that are out of alignment, so the chiropractor will be coming out soon to get her fully straightened out.

Also to let everyone know, Pico will be available for auction in August at the event in Winfield, WV. Pico is around 10-12 years old and is around 14.2-14.3 hands tall. She holds onto a lot of anxiety but with the slow work that has been done with her over the last 30 days she has relaxed tremendously. She will still require a confident and quiet rider to continue working with her after the competition. She is absolutely not dangerous what so ever. She has been trail ridden quite a bit and has also been over trail obstacles. She has the most beautiful flashy movements. If you are looking for your true black beauty, Pico is your girl!

06/06/2020

Today’s update on miss Pico ❤️ After a couple weeks of just doing slow relaxed walking and ground work, it was time to add some speed. Today I started asking her to bend on small circles and trot some. She did both with a totally relaxed mind set! I am so happy that the slow work is already paying off.

The first day I rode Pico, we went walk, trot, and canter just to evaluate what she knew. She was so nervous to the point where she kept trying to run out of from under me. I can’t wait to see where she is at day 100.

She could still use some stuff off of her wishlist if anyone wants to sponsor us!

04/06/2020

A peak at Pico’s short riding session today. We are still working on just walking in a relaxed manner and just being able to stand still without worrying. When we walk I don’t ask her to do anything. I just sit quietly and let her go wherever she wants as long as it’s at the pace I’m asking for.

In the video you can see she has the option to stand quietly, if she chooses to move forward then she is asked to flex and disengage her hind quarters until she stands quietly again. Soon after the video ended she stood perfectly still, relaxed, and almost dropped her head to the ground. She’s finally starting to realize that she can relax and enjoy life when I’m with her.

For anyone who is interested, Pico will be available for adoption at the auction in August following the competition. For more info on how to get approved to adopt, please message me!

A small update for ! For everyone who was wondering where we disappeared to for the last week and a half, I got married to my best friend and we were away on our honeymoon 💁🏼‍♀️

Miss Pico started back into her training routine last night. She’s been turned out with a herd of my mares for the last week enjoying life. However when I went to pull her out last night, she decided she forgot that she had ever seen a person in her life. I spent a good long while doing a sort of round pen session in the pasture. With that I made the right thing easy and the wrong thing hard. If she wanted to run she could run but, she had to work harder than simply coming to me. Once she figured out she got to rest any time she even looked at me, things went quickly.

Once she was caught, we had a quick ground work session of just getting her comfortable with me standing next to her in her bubble. After that she stood like a champ to get a bath! Look at that shine! 🤩

For everyone who has been messaging me regarding lessons, right now I am not currently ready to start children’s lessons. Hopefully within the next couple of months I will have all the details ready and I can start those back up!

I am however starting horsemanship lessons mid June. If you are having an issue with your horse, either under saddle or on the ground, I would be happy to help you get through the issue. These lessons will be available for trailer in or possibly travel to you depending on location.

Final thing, I am also still taking in training horses at this time. If you have a horse that needs work in ground work, a refresher, or a total restart I can help!

Please pm me with any questions and regarding rates

I’m just now getting around to giving a little update on my horse Pico. Yesterday was day two with this pretty girl. On day one I did a ground work and under saddle evaluation. After doing so I found she’s extremely nervous and constantly waiting to be asked to do something, and to do it quickly.

A little back story on Pico, she was originally a feral strip mine horse. She is a Morgan cross with looks like she has a strong Friesian influence. Something in her past has made her very nervous around people. I aim to make her change her mind in the way she sees people.

That leads me to yesterday’s session with her. I decided it would be best to take away everything mechanical from our training for a bit, so we just went ba****ck in a bosal. I did a ton of desensitizing work with her on the ground before hoping on. After I got on we just did a lot of standing and walking calmly without asking anything from her. At the end she finally lowered her head and stood relaxed! I’m so excited to she the transformation Pico makes over the next 98 days.

(Sorry for the bad picture, I thought my camera was focused and recording 🤦🏼‍♀️)

Sadly the Kentucky Extreme mustang makeover has been switched over to a virtual show. Sadly with this happening I can not justify the expenses to keep Freya for the competition. I would rather find her an adopter on my own than an online auction format. Freya will be available through the TIP program for $125 with a small additional training fee. She is located in London Ky. If you are interested in adopting, please pm me for further info.

We’re at least getting a start to that first ride 🤷🏼‍♀️ Freya definitely hasn’t been an easy horse to start. She’s got a lot of pent up fear and nervousness that we’ve been working through. She’s been perfect with my c**t starting saddle, however when the big girl saddle went on, she had a total melt down (dumped it 4 times before I could get it cinched, then continued to bronc buck for 30 minutes after I got it on). That fear has now been worked through and she’s doing well with the saddle. She’s still really nervous seeing things cross over her back, so we’re not quite ready to ride sadly.

Her back legs are also a huge obstacle we’re having to overcome. Today was the first day that I’ve touched her back legs with the stick that she hasn’t kicked at all!! That’s huge for her.

I will not be keeping her after the competition, so to me, making her a good solid citizen is more important than riding her. We will ride after I feel she’s truly ready for it and that I haven’t skipped any steps.

Freya progress pictures! Days 1,3,7, and 45. I would still like to see more weight and muscle on her before the competition. Freya had a big day today. She got her teeth done by the amazing Haley Mullins. Her teeth were a total disaster, so I’m hoping that’s why she hasn’t been gaining weight like she should. She also got her tail brushed out with Espana’ silk products (they are amazing for horses and people!). And lastly she got her front feet trimmed for the first time. She should be all ready for her promo pics tomorrow!

Little update on Freya. She’s saddling nicely, been working on packing tarps, and loaded on the trailer better than any horse I’ve ever worked with! I think we’re finally truly building up that trust. I was hoping for the first ride by the end of this week but a few different things threw a hitch in my plans. My RRP horse injured himself in a freak accident in the field (He’ll recover fine thankfully) and I had to go hurt my back again. Hopefully next week will go better for us all! Until then, light saddle work will continue.
