This is the real Gypsy relaxing into a canter.
Gypsy relaxing into a canter .
Playing with Gypsy emotional, mental and physically to prepare her for going softly foward from a trot to canter . changing her mind set from blasting into a gallop.
Just about to get on a horse i am retraining . A mob of red deer just ran through the paddock close to us .Lucky phone was nearby . Apologies for the frantic filming to catch the moment .
Brumbies beside petrol station at halfway creek , NSW .
First ride for Sunny in saddle . Recently turned 3. Have been riding bareback previously. Have 4 different saddles and finally with a recent growth spurt one fits !
Rejoining a herd. I check in several times with each of the other 3 members of our herd. Politely without drama, introducing myself and defining my roll in the herd.
Introduction of saddle initially restricts the horses body curve. Additional resilience training opportunity.
Squeeze game . Improves claustrophobia and encourages horse to curve his body into the shape needed.
First time mounting on off side with a saddle.
Asking Sunny to spiral into my hug with outreached arm.
To help Sunny understand how to flex his entire spine into a curve . I am using his Mother and the tyres to give him a reason to decide that it would be a good idea to curve his body ! His idea then goes into long term memory !
Freddie the donkey.
Freddie can now stand still and allow his hoof to be pick up without feeling the need to lash out with hind legs.
Continuing with Sunny 6 wks after his first micro ride bareback last time.
Sunny’s first ride. Vital first few steps.Sat on him previously. Quality hindquarter yield . ‘Fell’ on ground to simulate falling off, engaged his curiosity to face me and walk to me. Exactly what i would want if i fell off. Repeated on other side next.
First time to sit fully
On his back. Important to let him “discover” that as soon as he stops i get off. Each time we progress to next step !
Sunny progressing nicely.
Day 2 of 4 day work trip . Started from Lower beechmont, Samford and now heading to cooroy !
