We teach all of our pigs to sit. This is Archie, if you have seen my stories you will know she is a "screamer". If she sees you, she runs to you screaming and then follows you screaming. We ignore her until she is sitting quietly and then we pet her. It takes a lot of patience and consistency but she is getting so much better!⁠

This is our last week with the piglets! We are going to miss them so much. I think I say it every time, that this was the best litter. But they do just keep getting better and better! I guess that is the goal right? Improving and conserving this rare pig that we love so much. The Kunekune

Slinky loves baby piglets, he thinks it's his job to follow them around and make sure they have a clean face. ⁠

Lil'Mess as we are calling this tiny piglet was born spinning. She didn't really have control over herself and just spins in circles. We have to hand raise her since she doesn't have the coordination to nurse. She's been to the specialists at Texas A&M and they are pretty sure she is healthy and strong but has a neurological disorder. When she gets older she can get a CT scan to confirm. So, she will just be our little pet.

The rain finally came! The saying goes that nothing is happier than a pig in mud but our poor pigs have been using mud to keep cool for the past 2 months. My husband has been making mud wallows for them daily (flooding the pens with the hose) and they looked miserable. They are so happy now being clean and playing in the water. I think the saying should go, nothing is happier than a clean pig in a pond. 🤣

Emma, Banks, and Amy went back to their original owners this week. We were just caring for them for a few months. Our hearts have a hole left in them because we miss their smiling faces. All of them were always so enthusiastic to see us. They would come running and Emma would immediately sit hoping we would have a treat for her. It was amazing getting to watch them raise their piglets and have them in our lives. We will truly miss them!

We had two Ginger Black piglets in this litter and the rest were high whites. Meet Sprinkle☔️, she has fewer spots and more white on her belly. All of these guys are super sweet and curious. They were crawling up to us from day 1 and love getting scratches. It's been a very special litter for sure.⁠

Rentaka was a type of bronze portable cannon or swivel gun, sometimes mounted on merchant vessels and warships in Maritime Southeast Asia. Which is fitting since Clover was also named after a cannon, the Culverin, and Arquebus our other new piglet is a type of gun as well! We call Rentaka, Ren for short. She is really the sweetest pig and a little goofball. She's gotten big enough to move out with Woodstock and Timber, so she's not in the house anymore. We miss her but she's just a few steps away to visit.

Just playing with my phone's camera last week when it was warm! Boy did it turn cold fast! ❄️ ⁠

We use Prima Heat Lamps from for the animals during these cold months. They are the safest heat lamps out there and I love the SUPER long cords they come with. ⁠
⁠
We also just got doors and installed them this weekend on our Port-a-Huts for the piggies. So everyone is nice and warm for this cold weather we are having.

I originally purchased a Camera to take photos of the pigs for Instagram and our website. But I found I really enjoy taking pictures of wildlife. I had the chance to go to the Grand Teton's in 2019 on a photography trip with and It was one of the most amazing experiences in my life.⁠

Meet Drizzle! She is the last of Franny's "Please Bring the Rain" Litter! She has more spots than Sprinkle, so she is a Drizzle. 🌧️ She's also going to a super special home with Velvet from earlier this year.

Raindrop is a little sweetheart. She was the only one born without wattles out of 8 piglets. We named her raindrop because she's only got a few "drops" of black on her head with a Ginger head and butt. She is so adorable!⁠

In my last post I talked about special color designators with the IKHR registry. Raindrop is an example of a high % white. A pig has to be 75% or more white to qualify for this designator. ⁠
⁠
In Kunekunes there are 5 major coloring genes. White Spotting is one of those genes, Does anyone want to comment what the other 4 genes are?

Breezy is our most sweetest! She loves to crawl in your lap and go to sleep. She had a little cut on her nose from her brother Cloud. He's a little rascal and wants to be the "top" piglet. ⁠
