Animals are, and always have been, my life’s passion. I cannot recall a time when there was not at least one pet in my household.
Four years ago, a little dog came into my life who was very different from any other dog I have ever owned. Gromit is a silly little boy of the Chinese Crested Hairless Breed, and he is truly naked except for the hair on his head, tail, and feet. This little dude needs clothes to protect him from sunburn during the summer months and to keep him warm in the winter months. Finding suitable clothing for him proved to be a daunting task. All too often I found something that I liked but it was not available in his size, or the quality of the garment left a lot to be desired when the price thereof was taken into consideration. So, although I didn’t know the first thing about reading a sewing pattern, or sewing in general for that matter, I decided that I was going to make clothing for Gromit by myself. I purchased a pattern and some cloth, and my journey into self-taught sewing began. Although very frustrating at first with a lot of seam-ripping and restitching happening, finished garments were produced and each new garment was better than the last one made. Friends commented on Gromit’s extensive wardrobe and began asking me to make clothing for their pets and telling me that I should start selling online.
So that brings us to today! I have opened a shop on Etsy.com offering my current inventory for sale. I will be posting regularly about new items available, or variations of current items that can be made. Please contact me with any questions or comments. I would love to hear from you!
