A couple more skulls I’ve just finished processing together, and a great comparison of two closely-related exotics with distinct differences.

Duikers are small and shy antelope species from sub-Saharan Africa. There are several species from three different genera, but all are shy and elusive, and are largely solitary or form very small groups in thick forest.

On the left is a Black Duiker, Cephalophus niger, and on the right is a Red Forest Duiker, Cephalophus natalensis (missing a few lower left incisors). Both are males, exhibiting very different horn structure.

These were both really greasy when I received them, with incorrect tooth placement and disconnected mandibulars. Both legally imported and ethically sourced.

They join my Black-fronted Duiker, Cephalophus nigrifrons (not pictured here), and together are a great spread of well cleaned Duiker diversity, all with mandibles which sadly are often excluded in euro mounts of bovids and cervids.

The Marabou Stork (Leptoptilos crumenifer) often known as ”the undertaker” is a large wading bird native to Africa.

This huge skull, measuring 37cm is as close to a pterodactyl skull as you can get, and would make an awesome addition to any collection!

Pictured next to an Ibis skull for size reference, this skull is in beautiful condition.

This skull is not from a CITES listed species and can be owned legally without permits or licence.

Rare Fallow Deer Fawn. This little lass was donated from a zoo after passing from natural causes. Unlike the whitetail deer fawns, fallow deer have a longer, curly coat that is extremely soft. She has been fully preserved via mummification and is looking for her new home!

I’m definitely a bird guy! I think they are just some of the most colorful animals that exist in the world. Check out this beautiful female Eclectus Parrot! I pick this up from somebody who’s pet naturally died and they had it mounted. I remounted it onto this nice black walnut plaque. It can ship anywhere in the US.

This mount is over 50 years old and parts of this species are legal to buy, sell, and possess. Amazona ochrocephala is not Migratory Bird Treaty Act- or Endangered Species Act-listed. This animal was a pet that died in captivity.
Again, this is a LEGAL exotic bird! Though many of our native species cannot be bought, sold, or possessed, the MBTA and related laws do not apply to all bird species.

This is the vintage mount of a Yellow-Crowned Amazon Parrot!

The yellow-crowned Amazon is one of several species of parrot in the genus Amazona native to South and Central America. Amazon parrots are popular in aviculture, and this one was a pet that died in captivity. Though he could use some cleaning, he is in great vintage condition with good color and feathering and no damage that I can see. He is naturally missing three claws on his left foot. Please see pictures for condition.

This specimen is not from an ESA-listed population and is legal to sell.

I have named these guys Thing 1 and Thing 2 😂 both of them have super soft fur and are just adorable in general. They both have their original tails. One of them has a slight notch in it from an old injury but it definitely adds character and I wouldn’t mind adding that one to my personal collection if no one wants it 😂

I've got something REALLY cool available this time. I don't get these often, but I've just finished glueing together these absolutely massive Six-banded Armadillos (Euphractus sexcinctus) from Uruguay.

They are both absolutely perfect condition with full dentition and their skull caps (complete with ears and hair!). They have been cleaned with acetone to remove any fat on the skull caps. I've added a couple of close up photos of the top of the heads where you can see some crazy defined patterns in their skull where the muscles attach to the caps.

ASMAT Bisj Pole/Ancestorial Pole

This ASMAT ancestorial pole was carved as a gift to my uncle, Fr. David Gallus, in the late 70s.

Fr. David Gallus was a Crosier missionary that lived within the New Guinea Asmat tribes from the late 60’s and into the early 90’s. He dedicated this part of his life to transforming the headhunting Asmat tribesman into a Christian based belief system. This Bisj pole was special, instead of the typical religious ritual of carving a Bisj Pole for the loss of a tribesman to headhunting, this Bisj pole was carved by a religious elder as a symbol of Christianity entering their tribe. The hornbill depiction on the very top is carved upside down as an offering of their life beyond, symbolizing leaving their previous life behind them.

Fr. David Gallus passed away in 2012, and a lot of his relics can be seen in the Asmat museum at St Thomas University in St. Paul Minnesota.

Size 96”(8ft) tall, 16” wide at top, 7.5” wide at base, 4.5” deep

Note: This piece, like most others, suffered damage on the trip to the states, but has been repaired and reinforced. Warping and breakage are typical in the drying process of the wood.
