Wondering what I’ve been up to?

Back in early October I was contacted about an Axolotl in bad shape that was abandoned by its original owner and needed to be surrendered. I immediately said yes and took on what I knew was going to be a long recovery.

Miracle Moxy is a few years old I was told, but was the size of a juvenile when received. Over the last 8+ weeks this little one has been in a hospital tub soaking in Indian almond leaves and getting all the red wigglers it can eat. I’m happy to show the amazing progress that’s already been made.

I also want to let everyone know for the future this page and my future Axolotl efforts will be strictly rescue and rehabilitation. Unfortunately the time and financial commitments involved in breeding this wonderful species is not feasible right now. It also gives me the most fulfillment to rehabilitate them and get them back to beautiful and healthy.

TRANSPORTATION TUESDAY! Kyoshi has been with us for almost 2 months now after her previous owner surrendered her to a local pet store. When we found her at the pet store they had bright led lights on her with not a single hide. This baby was incredibly stressed out and her gills were not in the best shape. After a two week struggle getting her to eat this girl eats her worms like a champ and gills are coming in beautifully 😍

MAKO UPDATE 😍 2 weeks ago we drove to Chicago to rescue this boy from a rehoming situation where he wasn’t getting the best care. After two weeks in the “intensive tub unit” with Indian Almond leaves, a bubbler, and the re introduction of worms into his diet this guy is starting to perk up! Picture one was taken today and the second was from the day we brought him home.

This is our sweet new rescue Mako we were able to get from Chicago yesterday. Mako is a 5 year old boy who has lived in poor water conditions and not been receiving the proper diet. It’ll be a long rehab process but we are going to get this guy better and give him the TLC he needs!

We are so excited to announce at STLotls we have babies hatching! Both parents are Melanoids for this clutch. We have 22 babies we can’t wait to see grow. We will be posting updated pictures of them growing. At 2 months old we will begin a waitlist for people interested and then at 3 months they should be big enough to go home. Thus is the beginning for STLotols and we’re very excited for the future!
