Ever wondered whether your fur baby is at a healthy weight? At the vet's, their weight is taken, probably even before any other parameters are taken during visits. However, the actual number on the scale is not the only indicator as to whether your pet is in good shape or not. The body condition scoring system (Pictured) is used as a tool together with the reading on the scale(recorded and compared over time), amongst other tools, to show the state of your baby's physical health. This will help the vet guide you on whether to pump the brakes on that yummy food or slow down on the exercise they're getting, depending on what their condition is. Enjoy!

Today let's talk about High Rise Syndrome🏢🐈

Cats love to sit and bask on our balconies/window sills😴 and while they are famous for their ability to land on their feet, sometimes they don't always stick the landing🤕

High Rise Syndrome refers to a set of injuries that cats may sustain when they fall from high places.
This includes organ damage, fractured/dislocated bones or, more severely, spinal injuries that result in permanent paralysis.

So... how can we avoid this and keep our sunbathing friends safe?😸
Cat proofing high risk areas in your home is a good first step. This can be done with wire netting or clear panels your cats can look out of.😎
Uncastrated male cats are also more susceptible to High Rise Syndrome during mating season, hence having them neutered puts them less at risk.😁

With these precautions in place, you and your furry friend can set off on worry-free lounging...minus the jump scares!😅😻
