It’s amazing how much time I spend with our pasture animals. This is Dahlia, each alpacas has there very own unique personality. This girl is sassy and sweet, she absolutely does not want you to touch her but she really doesn’t want to miss her chance to get apple slices.

She is super vocal, very strong, and has grown on me quite a bit

Our girl went down Wednesday last week, she is comfortable and doesn’t appear to be in pain, she is a food hog. We believe she has cancer and has lost significant weight even though she eats everything. She is one tough cookie, after the cold snap this weekend she is still with us! Cozy in the barn under blankets and surrounded by hay. She is one heck of a fighter. Please keep her in your thoughts, all we can do is keep her comfortable at this point and we just hope she stays comfortable until it’s her time.

We also want to give a big shout out to our alpaca mentors at Snowshoe farm alpacas in Peacham. They have so much knowledge and are just so willing to help us even if we don’t ask. They dropped off some supplies for dahlia to include alpaca blankets to keep her warm this weekend, and we so appreciate their kindness and guidance.

The thoughts of all VSP members are with him and his family, and the state police thanks the community for its outpouring of support.

Roads in the area that were closed in the immediate aftermath of the incident have been reopened. However, community members should expect to see a continued law-enforcement presence throughout the area while this investigation is ongoing.

The state police will continue to provide regular updates as the case progresses.

Sleepy Hollow Homestead

At Sleepy Hollow Homestead we are a family of 5, and we are always on the run, but we felt we needed to be busy in a meaningful way while being sustainable. We took our big adventure in spring of 2019 when we purchased a herd of 9 alpacas. One had just had a baby Cria the day prior to pick up and we had zero experience in alpacas. We drove 4 hours to pick them up and 4 hours back and we were so excited to play with our new herd. We have 4 females and 5 males, Roxy and daughter Marigold, with son Oakley, Dahlia, Mimzy and son Lima, Gander, King and Notallama. A couple weeks later we added our two registered Nigerian Dwarf Goats Buttercup and Summit, and the adventure began. We also have honey bees and chickens, and so we started crafting which was our purpose to start selling farm products. in 2020 we moved into a store that sells Vermont homemade products “Robins Rustics in lyndonville VT”, we offer felted soaps, Lemon honey foot scrub, dryer balls made from alpaca fiber, felted gnomes made from alpaca fiber, hand made wreaths with felted decorations, Nesting balls, and gift baskets and of course honey and eggs. Fall of 2020 we will be breeding our goats to sell goat kids and we will be making products out of our goats milk.

The farm always has something going on, for instance we just rescued a 15 year old neglected Goat, a VERY LARGE goat with horns We named him HANK. He is living with our intact male King and he appears happy to have friends. We also do a garden where often times you will find a Russian Tortoise Loitering throughout, you just never know what you will come across at the farm. We are available for visits on weekends by appointment only as we do have 3 children and are often on the go. If you are wanting to visit the farm or are interested in our homemade products please send us an email or message the farm page!! Thank you for the continued support as we grow our farm and we look forward to creating more products for everybody!
