Fun fact:
When a tarantula lose a leg at a joint, more specifically at the trochanter. It’s meant to separate when in danger, when a predator or mate try’s to grab them, but gets a leg instead, they can drop it. They also will chew a leg off at that point if they have a bad molt and the leg is bothering them.
Also after a leg has fallen off, it actually twitch for some time, as well if you pinch the leg it will contract and stretch, it will do this until the fluid is dried up.

Bitch tried to eat the him and I had to swoop in and safe his ass, she got his leg though.
Males tend to stick a leg in between the females fangs, so she’s more likely to get one of those and not his juicy abdomen lol.
