One of my favourite things about doing mental stimulation walks with Wilson is the freedom his owners give me to do what I want with him ❤️
At Crufts I was blown away by the Freestyle Heelwork to Music winner and their distance control. Walking and stopping in line with each other on opposite sides of the arena floor was incredible to see.
It's something I've never taught before - normally owners want their dogs to walk to heel! So having a play with Wilson has been great, trying to figure out together how to make it work. We've got a way to go, but there's progress already 😁
A chilly but enjoyable session at Southwold beach this morning! We're not convinced Molly really wanted to find her toy though, she was having far too much fun exploring instead!
Just love how responsive this girl is to the whistle! We've been working on downs at a distance for some time in our training walks, but it's always been a bit of a struggle. Today I introduced a whistle command for down and it all came together for Sydney! Send away on vocal command, stop and sit with single whistle blow, down the with double pip 😁👏🏻🖤
I will NEVER not love training this boy! His eagerness to please is wonderful 🥰
Winston had his first ever go at using any kind of agility/hoopers equipment today, so we kept it to a simple oval course and both he and Rachael did SO well! 😍
How do you celebrate a whole year of Happy Dog when it's pouring with rain? Party games, of course! 🤩
Love this bunch of crazy people and dogs so much 🥰
It's been a few weeks since I've seen Elvis... Clearly the excitement was a little too much 🙈
This isn't the most glamorous job in the world, but I wouldn't change it ❤️
This video was too cute not to share! Miniature Dachshund, Strudel, was desperate to have a go at Fly Agility while watching her sister Maggie on Friday, so we set the jumps to their lowest setting and let them run together for the final go 🤩
Sotherton Dog Meadow
We had some fun in our Thursday class this morning... Dog Rounders! They definitely preferred being fielders rather than batting 🤣
(I borrowed the idea from the genius of Team Dog- Training + Behaviour)
Mr. Floyd showing just how happy he is to be walked by Jade and Heidi 🥰
It's safe to say Libby and I got a bit wet this morning. It's also safe to say Libby didn't give two hoots about it 🧡
I think it's safe to say Rue was pleased to see me on Tuesday after 11 days apart. Sound on for those gorgeous, happy sounds 🥰
When new customers ask about training walks I often get asked "how many sessions will it take" for specific issues. The answer is, there is no set answer! Every dog is different and will respond to training differently depending on their breed, previous training, drive to learn, how much effort the owners put in and previous learned behaviours.
When Rosie's owner asked this question, I advised that as a pulling 9 month old sprocker who's learnt to walk at a motorised wheelchair pace, slowing her down to a speed that will match her owner on crutches might take longer than other dogs. However, this was at the end of her first session and whilst we've still got a way to go I'm super impressed with how much she achieved in just 30 minutes ❤️
Gotta love a Labrador's ears in the wind! 🥰 Sydney and I nearly got blown away on her training walk at lunch time today! 💨
A peek into a training walk! Wilson has two training walks a week to help keep his super smart collie brain stimulated.
Wilson's sessions have a variety of different exercises including obedience, nose work, tricks, sports and heelwork. Training walks are tailored to each dog and owner's needs and we send in depth videos showing what we've done and how to do it 😊
Here's what an hour's on-lead walk with Rolo looks like...
Plenty of different environments and lots of sniffing time to ensure he gets that vital mental enrichment along with his exercise.
The walk finishes with a fur check and foot clean, followed by a window farewell ❤️
Ps. A big thank you to my very talented brother in law for creating some original music for me to use for my videos! 🎵
A little snippet into what a quiet work week looks like for me... How lucky am I to spend it with these wonderful dogs 🥰
It was soooo nice to have the sun shining during our Fly Agility session this morning 😍 just look at Ruby go!!
