Sometimes it seems to me that people take a dog and then everything about having a dog annoys them...
Preferably he should always be quiet, just have no needs and participate in everything that the human just wants to do in a good mood and quietly 😱😱
So it turns my stomach every time I see dogs at the weekly market....
- How they look around worried because so many strangers come way too close to them
- how their tongues almost hit the floor in the heat while people enjoy a nice popsicle
- How they are corrected on the leash because they dared to come closer to a fellow dog and left their place at their human's side
And when a stranger steps on their paws, the humans are briefly pi**ed off at the inconsiderate passer-by (who didn't even see the dog in the crowd... after all, we humans are also busy looking elsewhere)... but then at the dog, because it shouldn't make such a fuss 😢😢
That makes you sad as well?
Then you belong to the group of people who have brought a real friend, a sentient being with needs who they care for into their lives 🥰🥰
To those who are aware of the responsibility and also take into consideration their animals with their needs 🥰🥰
I'm so glad that I'm reminded that there are soooooo many great dog owners out there by my great clients who are the same way 🥰🥰

Sometimes we humans wish that the dogs just function ... this is quite natural because we want to integrate him as easily as possible into everyday life without him embarrassing or constantly worrying us 🤗🤗.
Unfortunately, this does not work most of the time...
Sure, the dog can learn skills that help in different situations 🥳
But as long as we don't change anything in ourselves, neither the relationship with the dog, nor the problems will change in a sustainable way 😱
Because as with humans, a relationship is always work.... for all involved ;)

Many of my clients don't want to "bribe the dog with treats" 😱
They fear the dog will only listen when they have treats in their hand
But that only happens when we make a crucial mistake in training 😱
There is a big difference between waving the treat in front of the dog's nose to get the dog to do something (although this can also be useful in certain situations) 🤣 Oor if we reward the dog AFTER he has done something right 😁
The advantage of food is...
🐶 It is super easy to use for us humans
🐶 It's fun
🐶 It's a basic need

Anyone can call themselves a dog trainer 😱
Did you know that you don't need an education or proof of qualification to work as a dog trainer here (in some countries an exam is required, which sometimes stands on extremely outdated theories)?
And for dog owners, it is often difficult to see who works how, and why 😱
So my clients are often skeptical at first...
They have already been through several dog schools and trainers and have been disappointed non-stop 🥵
Methods were used that do more harm than good
Partly with painful tools (e.g. electric collars)
And not infrequently they get insulted and berated
It makes me sad that something like this is still possible 🥵
Therefore, for me, further education (based on the latest scientific knowledge) is just as important as empathy for humans and dogs ❤
For me, it's all about the teams feeling comfortable
❤ Without pressure
❤ Without fear or even pain
❤ With fun and relaxation
because that's how we solve problems sustainably and strengthen the bond 🥳🥳🥳

The most common mistake I see dog parents make🐶 .
The dog is accused of things 😱 .
He is "dominant", "stubborn", "does it on purpose", "knows exactly what I want from him"...
And none of that is true 😱 .
Our dogs make mistakes because they don't know any better (just like we do)
E.g. a dog does not sit on signal, either because he does not know that he is supposed to in this place and in this situation
Or because sitting would be uncomfortable (e.g. because it is wet)
If a dog freaks out at the sight of other dogs, it is not because he is dominant, but because he feels uncomfortable and sees no other solution
So our job is to
🐶 Teach the dog what we would like him to do
🐶 Taking into account his personality and needs.
🐶 And to make his life better that way
Because when our dogs feel good, they have no reason to freak out or be afraid 😁😁

She was completely out of control 😱😱
Everything and anything got barked at
Her humans feeling distressed and helpless
They had zero desire to go for a walk with her, the neighbors were already talking 🥵🥵
But fortunately, the solution was then easy 🥳🥳
We helped her reduce the stress level and really relax...
Within a very short time, she could ignore
🐶 Bikes
🐶 People
🐶 Other dogs
and just do her thing.... super important for a terrier ❤❤
And her people?
They now enjoy walks in nature and if they come across someone, good strategies have replaced rising heart rates 🥳🥳🥳🥳

😱 Horror scenario 😱
The dog has injured a guest 😱😱😱 .
Initially, the dog was a bit tense when someone came near him and he was eating...
It was just interpreted as wolfing down meals... no big deal 🐶
At some point, there was the first growl...
Alarm bells start ringing 🐶
If nothing is done now and the dog is not taken seriously (maybe because he is small), It can escalate until someone gets hurt 🥵🥵 .
And then not only do the worries begin
🥵 Is my dog dangerous
🥵 Is the roommate ok
🥵 What if this happens again
But also the guilty conscience...
We must take our dogs seriously (even those who "would never bite")
And the training is easier, the less the whole thing has already escalated

When I meet my clients for the first time they often have little hope left 😱 .

Big mistake made by dog trainers.... 😅
As dog trainers we are the dog's voice, we translate needs and requests for help and advocate for the animals with body and soul ❤
But in dog training, there is never only the dog, there is always a human involved and he/she also needs to feel comfortable 🤗
And that is sometimes forgotten
This is an advantage for me as a fitness trainer.
I am used to working with people and helping them achieve their goals 🥳 .
In dog training, this is just as required, of course in compatibility with the needs and personality of the dog 🤗
And that's what makes a good human-dog team.... both pay attention to each other and you follow your path together ❤

Does this sound familiar...
You get ready for a walk with your dog and the pulse is rising already 😱

"Obedience", " function", "must".
These are words that are not compatible with my form of dog training 😱
Why?
Because they pave the way to bulldoze your dog
It becomes more important that he is "obedient" and his well-being slips into the background 🥵
But is that fair?
Not to me!
We bring our dogs into our everyday lives and various situations...
They do not choose that
So we have to make sure that they feel good about it too 🐶
I choose to work with cooperation, self-confidence, and fun instead 🥳🥳
This leads to the dogs joining in voluntarily
And by the way, it is also so much more enjoyable for us 🥳

Everything you've learned about dog training is outdated 😱😱
Creepy, right?
But it is one of the reasons why dog training is perceived as a pure necessity and has a bitter edge to it 🥵.
In the past (and even today) common sense was that you first have to assert yourself as a pack leader and force the dog into submission😱
But training, living, and bonding nicely and gently works much better 🥳
The best way to learn is to have fun...
For us and our dogs
And it doesn't matter if you want your puppy to grow up to be a reliable companion
or struggle with your dog on leash
There is no need to correct anything 🥳🥳
I always give my clients the following 3 tips right at the beginning
1) Tell your dog what you want (not what you don't want)
2) Visualize your goal clearly in your mind's eye
3) If you notice that today is a bad day, do something fun
These 3 little things bring so much relaxation and positivity to my clients...
training can only be successful ❤.

Let's take a look at what's going wrong...
Do you feel like you are working against your dog rather than with him?
You offer him a nice life, he has everything he needs and still, he embarrasses you on walks when there is another dog? 😱😱
Although he could begin to understand that nothing bad happens to him.... 🥵
You have already tried everything and once he is in his rage, nothing helps anymore 🥵
Then you're like me (and most of my clients)
I was so frustrated and helpless that I would have liked to throw the towel 😱
But giving up is not my thing 😅
And once I understood what my dog actually wants to express with his outbursts....

My client believed she had to "follow through" 😱🐕
That she had to enforce her " commands " in every situation...
Of course, she was not completely wrong but it felt wrong and those tips forget an important thing
If our dogs just can not listen, it makes no sense to insist on signals 😅
That's just frustrating
So it is important to be able to read the dog to assess when he is overwhelmed
and then we need to help him ❤️

Pssst I spill secrets 😁😁
Sometimes I just let something go 🤣
I know how it feels when someone expects performance while you are overwhelmed.... not a great feeling 🥵
My dog is... special
I always thought you have to assert yourself and be the boss so that the dog does not mess with you 😅
But sometimes our dogs can simply not bring the performance that we are used to (and if it is only a simple sit)
That's why I look closely at my dog's ability to participate before I ask him to do something
And if I notice, it is not a good day for him (or me)... we just do fun things and goof around or spend a little time on the couch 🤗🤗
My dog does not want to be the boss
He is obviously happy when I understand him and respond to his needs ❤
This is how a relationship works
And when I work with my clients, I help them learn to understand their dogs as well so that training is successful and fun 🥳🥳 .
