So many things to be thankful for this year. A year of many firsts. First foal, Moira, who has the personality you dream for in a filly. Magnus came so far in his training and me along with him as he was the first youngster I truly trained from the ground up. We can ride anywhere with anyone and so have no fears. He has handled semi’s of cattle, playground equipment, dogs, new horses, turkeys, deer, bikes, quads, tractors… you name it. He will be heading to the trainers next week for a few months. Lastly, we added a horse for our kids, who has plenty of s***k, but takes care of them well.

Always appreciate the little things. When you do, the little becomes a lot in a hurry.

Last weekend, we took Magnus down the road to a training facility to see how he would handle being around a new herd, arena, etc as he will be staying for a few months this winter. You’d never know he was a stallion. He was excited, as any youngster would be, but stood tied for quite a while, rode calmly, and never flinched with any of the mares coming and going. He shared the arena with geldings and mares so well!

He has the brain, size, and heart you want in your foals! We’re looking forward to some great crosses next year.

Mares did pretty well trail riding. Moira didn’t mind mom leaving, but Magnus couldn’t believe I wasn’t riding him.

It’s never too early to book for the 2025 breeding season. Get a stallion with the size, heart, and mind to do anything, while still being a great family horse. Magnus is only 4.5, but has far surpassed any horse I’ve owned with great movement, energy, and desire to learn.

We’ve always worked with dressage riding methods, and enjoy it. It’s been interesting to switch over and work on training western style. There is a lot bigger difference than I realized. I have tons more to learn. We have a lot of goals and we are inching our way towards all of them.

Big day today for everyone. Moira is starting the weaning process. Sully is starting to work more with Mareduh. She is a safe girl, but spoiled and a bit lazy. Magnus was very excited to see her. They’ve been separated a few months. That made for an eventful, but necessary ride for us to get through. It was good to see Mareduh unreactive to any shenanigans he tried. He was still never unsafe. He just forgot who leads the partnership.

ISO a kid-safe horse. Not deadbeat, but not spooky and listens most of the time with lots of hours under saddle. Preferably large enough for an adult to work if needed, but not absolutely necessary.

We are considering a mare from Idaho, but in order to make our decision, we need some quotes for a fall transport to Michigan. The mare is a light breed/non-draft. Any recommendations?

Lots of work to do to bring up the quality, but it’s so nice to have two “pastures.”

Back in the paddock until tomorrow and we get something visible on the lines. We may have dad clear it out a bit for them first anyways.

If you didn’t guess, she isn’t a Cream, but we welcomed an awesome mare to the farm to teach our kids all about riding and maybe a few crosses someday.

Pretty priceless if you ask us.

They have the power to move mountains, but, yet, they trust us to lead and protect them.

We are blessed to have a great horse friendly park nearby with plenty of obstacles to train with. Today was pretty eventful. Bridle came half off. He didn’t care. Mounted from the ground as something spooked him a bit and had to ride behind my saddle- he didn’t care. We had crossed this creek once before with horse friends, but today was his first solo. It took about 5 times to go from jumping through to standing and turning around in the middle of it. Pretty solid day if you ask me! Conquer those fears. #americancreamdraft #drafthorse #stallion #trailriding #horsetraining

We are loosing our baby “fleece.”

Our first trail ride with horses he has never met, including a mare, and he was the perfect trail ride partner! For the most part, you would never know he was new or a stallion.

First turnout in the big pasture with Momma! 1 week old today! The kids will love watching for our Renewal Health & Fitness Kids! Program, today! It is Farm and Equine Week!
