With regard to gravy being in both the safe & unsafe column, here's a little clarification:

Most gravy contains onion and/or garlic, which is toxic for both dogs and cats, even in small amounts. In fact, anything in the onion or garlic family (including scallions, leeks and other similar vegetables) is a no-go.

However, if you’ve made the gravy yourself and are 100% sure it doesn’t contain onion or garlic, and not too much salt, you can give them a little taste! Try topping your pet’s usual food with a small amount.

When I am training a dog, I use the phrases "emotional response" or "emotional state". A lot of folks have a tendency to ask about the anthropomorphic factor of using those terms. This article really touches on why they are not only appropriate but essential for understanding what our pets are going through. That's - always on the nose.

The amazing things our dogs can do...

We see it time and time again. Dogs get adopted and it’s a joyous occasion… Then, usually within a few days to a few weeks, they get returned. Don’t get us wrong, sometimes it really just isn’t a good fit; but oftentimes, it’s because the dog was not given the time it takes to decompress, adjust and acclimate.

How would you feel if everything you’ve ever known changed in an instant? Would it be smooth sailing and you’d be your best self within a matter of hours? Ya… we didn’t think so either.

Bringing a pet into the family can be one of the best and happiest things! But please, make sure you’re doing your research and giving them a fair chance to succeed and to get to know you, your home, your family and their brand new life. 🏡

After leaving my clients, there's always more work to be done! Be it researching, reading up on the newest breakthroughs in the behavior vet journals, or writing up homework and lesson plans. Why not do it somewhere peaceful and positive?

As you enjoy the summer temps, please do right by the best friend who depends on you the most. Remember: a pet in a parked car, even with the windows open, can quickly overheat and die on a warm day.

If you see an animal in distress in someone’s car, call 911 immediately and try to find the owner. If you cannot find the owner immediately, and you are still waiting for first responders and the animal seems to be in grave condition, state law allows you to break the car window or make entry to save the pet’s life. ❤

Poor Momo couldn't understand why she wouldn't play with him! Lol! We sure do love our tho! Try and make a list of the reinforcers that your dog loves and use them in day to day training!
