Rio is home. 🥰

Rio is home. 🥰

Baby Rio smiling as she’s cuddled and cradled and loved...she has had an exhausting day that started at 4 am. Two flights and two car rides later, Rio was able to be seen at Animal Medical Center in NYC. She will be settling in tonight at her foster home while we review some of the assessment notes and make decisions that will benefit her.
It is very likely that Rio will never walk on her own again. The bullets traversed her spine and she has no sensation in the lower part of her body. The consensus is that with rehabilitation and a doggy wheelchair, Rio will live a full and happy life. We will continue to explore further assessment and different forms of therapy. For now she will decompress, relax, enjoy a comfortable and fluffy bed, and be given all the love, care, and respect she deserves. You can continue to follow her process here with us until she’s ready to find a loving family. For now we’re grateful for all the love she has received so far.

Today was our vaccination event in the valley! We provided 100 dogs with access to vaccines, bravecto, and dewormer. AND we are not done yet!! We hit the streets to go directly to the source! Many of these dogs have never received a vaccine in their lives, live in meager conditions or in the streets vulnerable to all types of diseases. Other owners simply do not have vehicles nor funds to utilize vet care. Our volunteers went out with the help of Houston K-911 Rescue, as soon as neighbors found out we were providing resources they rushed to direct volunteers to their homes to help their pets. I am a strong believer that if resources are provided in lower income communities, the whole of the area will improve. Please help us continue our mission to help better the lives of these poor dogs by donating. We stretch every penny that is donated, and every $1 helps! We hope we can do this monthly if we can raise funds!

We visited one of the finders that reached out to us after finding puppies. She had found two pregnant dogs previously. We vaccinate, and provide basic medical care for the dogs in possession until we are able to find a rescue partner to accept them. This family has taken in 18 stray dogs/puppies that we have been able to help them with. We depend on people like them in the RGV community to continue helping!

Please donate so we can continue this program: https://paypal.me/DiandraP?locale.x=en_US

Rio sis doing better today!

Quick little update on baby Rio.
She’s alert and eating (like a little wolf according to the vet tech!)
She’s sweet and enjoying the attention she’s getting.
We’re still working on making arrangements for her flight to NY. There are a lot of little and delicate details we have to work out and we want to make sure she’s as safe and as comfortable as possible. This type of rescue has many moving and coinciding parts.
We’re hoping to have her brought to AMC in NYC, Cornell University, or Animal Surgical Center on Long Island where she will see board certified neurologists and surgeons and eventual rehabilitation.
All details will come soon. For now please continue to keep Rio in your thoughts. We will provide more pictures and details as soon as we get them!

Right now Benny is flying across the country on his way to Illinois as I type! Last week Benny was dragging his little body in search for food. A puppy trying to survive after being shot. His entire life has changed for the better!

Dogs are not people. In the local community of the RGV, like many high stray areas, there is usually a mentality that dogs are just like people needing to experience “motherhood.” Experience “a family.” We are normally asked to help cousins, uncles, aunts, grandparents of a dog. I am always shocked when people list an entire family tree and it happens often. As an animal advocate, I state this firmly, dogs are not people. They are dogs. They are pack animals. They have no desire to birth puppies. They do not have the same emotional attachments to puppies as people do to their children. In fact, there is high tendency of aggression built between littermates if they are kept together or kept with fathers and mothers. There is in**st between unaltered related dogs because they do not recognize they are “family.” It is not only our mission to rescue dogs but to spay and neuter community pets! Yesterday, we spayed over a dozen dogs. A small number in the sea of millions. Please help us fundraiser to continue to help lower stray numbers by spaying. The cost per dog is $70. We are often congratulated for our rescue efforts, but very few help us financially to continue.

We work with volunteers that are in the harshest areas of the Rio grande valley! They are always finding strays, injured dogs and dogs in dire need. Thankfully we have awesome rescue partners that accept them and we are able to find temporary fosters in the area, arrange transport for their safety. Thank you to forgotten ones for helping us with this boy!

Freedom is experienced differently by everyone. Some are terrified. Some are confused. Others are thrilled and trusting. But everyone understands what almost happened. But with hard work and determination all the dogs from the small south Texas shelter networked Tuesday are now safe with Furever Safe Rescue! This is and was not easy and they are just starting their journey. Please donate for their medical care via PayPal at

Their smiles have been erased. The first two puppies were euthanized already in a matter of two hours. And the others are next. Most are puppies. Waiting in a kill pound for their turn at the inevitable. The needle that is going to end their lives! They desperately need rescues and fosters before they are killed too! Pm if you can help!

Blonde and her siblings were found last week. It took a lot of team effort to get this group safe! Her family was hit by a car causing her to lose her mother and sibling. Her two siblings and her survived. Blonde was so injured she left to hide. It’s now been found out that they are also dealing with hypertrophic Osteodystrophy. A painful bone disease! If they had not been picked up, they would have suffered for months!! Please help Rescue PAC with their medical care!

Please donate for them at Venmo or rescuepac.com

His name is Puppy. Three pounds, 6 weeks old and received a blood transfusion due to severe anemia. His blood count was so low that he was having seizures as a result. All of his siblings died from simple fleas and hookworms. He was not expected to survive on day one. After living under a house for weeks, Puppy knew how to fight and managed to survive after a week of hospitalization! He is a survivor! I do not think his name will last long, and will need a new name to fit him!

Stetson was found abandoned in a field in La Feria. He was confused for a pregnant dog but instead it was soon discovered he is actually advanced heartworm positive and already in heart failure. His belly was all fluid. He has a very little chance of surviving through heartworm treatment. But he is happy and has a great appetite so he will continue in hospice care until he tells us he is ready. We will continue to drain him and make him comfortable. Please help us offset his medical expenses during this time! It’s too simple to put him down. And he deserves at least a little true happiness in life!

Please donate for his continuous medical care: https://paypal.me/DiandraP?locale.x=en_US

Bibi, Chichi, Broken and Butters were abandoned on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. Tiny little chihuahua puppies that people would kill for. Abandoned to die in those fields. Being in the middle of nowhere, Texas. They were stuck with no place to go but the back of the truck. Thankfully a volunteer was driving back from another transport late at night and was able to pick them up on her way home a few hours later. A few days later, they were diagnosed with Parvo. Their sibling succumbed to the virus. This weekend they arrived north. Today they got their last wellness visit and will be ready for adoption in a week! Please help us continue our rescue efforts by donating towards our dogs.

Six weeks ago Bonita and her four puppies were living in tunnel. This is normal life in the valley. Mothers giving birth in tunnels and babies living there until they get ran over. Thankfully we were able to get a dog run open up after moving a million things around to put them in. Two days ago, Bonita and her babies boarded transport for up north. Today, Bonita found her family. Her family loves her beyond words already. Please help by donating towards our cause. We simply cannot continue to help without it.

Only four survived. There was originally nine. Five died in the most cruel and vicious manner. Mauled by bigger dogs. Ripped apart. And this is actually common. I recognize we cannot help them all. We do not have enough fosters to help many times. I keep repeating the same picture in my head. If they had a kennel, we could have helped them. But we don’t even have kennels left. And I know a kennel sounds insignificant, but it could have saved them. When we were finally able to help, there was only four left. And it hurts. Seein their picture, knowing they should be here. Four have made it north, and now will find their families in the following days. It should have been all. Please help donate supplies and funds. We really cannot help without it.

Charlie was abandoned as a puppy in a neighborhood. He was the playful “neighborhood puppy” until he got older. And then neighbors turned on him. They started shooting at him for fun. The last time they almost hit the target. We were able to remove him off the streets. After quarantining and vetting, Charlie was ready. Yesterday, Charlie arrived safely to his rescue at midnight. By 9am today, Charlie is now officially adopted. Pending his vet check (again) prior to adoption. No one can take his smile from him!

It took a year of suffering for Charlie to almost die in Texas. It took three weeks of quarantine for transport and 9 hours up north for him to find his family. Although it sounds easy, it’s not. We constantly scrape for supplies and funds to help these dogs. The worst part is that very few people want to help by volunteering or donating. Scraping for a bottle that cost $0.50 per dog of dewormer. We desperately need help so we can continue to help. Supplies and funds for medicine are the most essential things.

This week we have spayed 23 more dogs! We are inching towards making the valley a humane place for dogs!! This can only be done through spaying and neutering. We CANNOT rescue enough dogs daily to stop the overpopulation. We MUST continue to advocate for low cost spay clinics in the Rio grande valley. This area is the most overpopulated area with dogs and cats in the United States! If you want to help make this a reality by sponsoring a spay, please message our page!

We have exciting news!!! We are happy to announce that we were able to meet our goal of raising $13,000 for spays in the Rio Grande Valley! Our friends at Lone Star Dog Ranch & Dog Ranch Rescue matched YOUR donations to $26,000, doubling the amount of dogs we will be able to spay to nearly 400 dogs!!!

As we all know, the Rio Grande Valley area in Texas is one of the most overpopulated stray dog areas in the United States. This week alone we rescued four momma dogs living on the streets giving birth to dozens of newborns!!! We aim to prevent community dogs from adding to the overpopulation. We provide responsible owners who are unable to afford to spay their dogs access to these crucial services! We are thrilled to be able to continue!

Due to covid, there were clinics closing, vets moving out, etc. our spay program was paused but will be able to resume in October per vet clinic manager! We are discussing with our vets future appointments in October. We are also looking at adding another clinic in the lower valley for residents of that area. If you would like to sponsor a dog donations can be called in at the vet at ‭956-687-7728‬ under the Underdog Project/Leslie Ysuhuaylas. $5, $10, $20 donations all add up!

Pricing: $65 per spay, $5 for rabies. Bloodwork is $18 if necessary.

22/08/2020

We're starting to schedule spay appointments for September! Be on the lookout for a text from Spay RGV about setting up your appointment.

We have a long list of dogs needing to be spayed and can't continue to wait days for a reply so if you don't reply to our text, we'll assume you no longer need your dog spayed.

Also, once you commit to your appointment date and time, make sure that you go to it. If you confirm your appointment and don't show up, that is wasted a spot that could have been used for another dog's spay surgery.

Thank you all for your patience and support while we continue our mission to stop unwanted litters in the RGV. 🐶❤

06/08/2020

Since beginning our Spay RGV program, these beauties and over 150 others have pledged to not add to the RGV overpopulation. We are continuing to set up appointments as we are determined to get through the sign up list. We stand behind spay/neuter being the key to help stop shelter overpopulation and killing of healthy animals. We are donation based so we rely 100% on donations to be able to continue this initiative to prevent anymore unwanted litters. Please join us to help transform the RGV become a better place for all pets. ❤

23/07/2020

We have received a lot of interest in our vaccination drives. Due to Covid-19 we have paused our program for the past few weeks to think on how to beat and safely proceed with helping community pets. We will post in the following days if we will be able to resume this week or the following.
