It's been a while since I posted but we have good news here!!!
Chester went to the vets on Friday for his check up and got his final sign-off! Yippee!!! We celebrated by going for our first gallop on Sunday and I may have cried happy tears 😅

Those with keen eyes may notice that I have clipped Chester and he's a non-spotted giraffe 🦒 🐎

With the crazy warm weather he was really struggling, so I gave him an emergency clip a week ago.
A giraffe clip wouldn't have been sufficient with the thick winter coat he had grown, so I did a full covercote clip with blended legs and blended half face. I was gutted that I couldn't do the giraffe clip but boy, am I glad I went for it! He's felt so much better and I think he looks absolutely incredible too - so fit and healthy! Not bad for approaching 20 years young 😍 💪

Hopefully he'll grow enough coat back for me to do the giraffe clip later this winter... 🦒

Look who had a clip this weekend!!! Doesn't he look beautifully shiny?! 😍 ✨️🦒

Fun fact, Chester was the first horse I ever clipped and it's all thanks to him that I was able to start it as my own little business! He's the best business partner and brand ambassador!
As it's all down to him, my clipping business is named after him - Brave'Art Equestrian Creative Clipping 🥰

I will be bombarding you with many more pictures and videos of his new haircut - my phone is already full of them!

A few days ago it was Chester's 19th birthday! 🥳 🎂
We celebrated in our usual tradition by going on a riding holiday and he got his much loved birthday cake 😋
Unfortunately I forgot the party hats but he's wearing his beautiful "birthday boy" sash from Sunset Ocean Designs 🥰💚
Taz at Logan's Run Equine Transport carefully transported Chester as well as his birthday cake made by me! 😂

Me and Chester had our first lesson of his rehab! 🙌

The very wonderful Martha Lindsell gave us lots of things to play around with and this was my favourite - riding with your eyes shut, then tipping forwards and backwards to feel how it could influence Chester's movement.
In this picture I have my eyes shut and felt like my head was really tipped back, yet in reality it looks just right!

There is always a light bulb 💡 moment in a lesson with Martha Lindsell Horsemanship 😁

A few days ago me and Chester went on our longest hack yet!
We had a few long canters and he felt absolutely incredible, pulling to go faster!
He had several prancey dances too - I don't know who enjoyed it more! 😁😁😁
So pleased with him!!!

Last night me and Chester went on our first ba****ck ride in 4 months!!!

I haven't wanted to risk it during his rehab as he's been too unpredictable, but I have missed it so much!

Now he's out 24/7 he's much calmer so off we went. It was absolutely wonderful and I felt so secure that we walked, trotted and cantered 😁

What wasn't nice is that I got absolutely COVERED in loose hair from him shedding but Chester found it rather amusing and laughed at me 🙄🤣

Chester's 3rd checkup at Hird and Partners Shelf Equine Hospital today and we got GOOD NEWS!!! 😁😁😁

His left hind with the old injury is stable and his right hind with the new injury is healing really well!

We also got the green light to go on holiday for his birthday, so watch this space - it's not far away now!

Chester has been a little hesitatant to load since his injury too so when we got back home, Taz at Logan's Run Equine Transport let us go off and on the horsebox a few times - Chester is now back to being a pro at loading 🥰

All round, a great morning and I'm so happy with my miracle boy 🥰🥰🥰

We are so lucky to have a great team that have supported Chester's recovery so far. Extra special thanks to my dad (who came to every appointment), Taz at Logan's Run Equine Transport, Christian at Hirds, Kathy at KB Equine Therapy, Partnership for Performance, our farrier Craig, and Sarah at White Rose Vet Physio who did INDIBA Animal Health treatment 💖

On the first one he was a bit gung-ho but on the second he sprang into it, then came back to me in a beautiful canter with wonderful self carriage 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

Yesterday was New Shoes Day for Chester, so our farrier Craig Keys had the job of attempting to shoe a very excited flying giraffe.
Apart from Chester exploding out of the field, being very snorty and having his eyes on stalks, it all went much more smoothly than I thought it might!

Today the snow has gone, but in it's place is gale force winds. Bring on summer!!!

He might look sweetness and light but he's actually quite naughty 😤
This morning I shovelled away a section of concrete as I know Chester loves standing outside with his hay while I muck out.
Well, when the other horses were being put out, he broke the bailer twine and merrily trotted along the ice! 😱
Thankfully he didn't slip and I managed to get him safely tied up again!
If they can do it, Chester will 🙄

Success!!!! Tonight I had a second attempt at Chester's restricted, supervised turnout in the arena (last time he just went absolutely crazy for 15 minutes, revving himself up even more!)

I'm pleased to report that this video was the worst that he did and then he was very nice and calm! 😁
Probably because he'd got all his excitement out when he tried to kill me about 10,000 on our walk this evening, but at least he wasn't crazy for both? 😅

It feels like we're really making progress now 🙏

We had a lovely rehab ride today, enjoying a few trots on the roads and stopping to chat with Chester's fans 😁🥰🦒
He's feeling and looking so good! Fingers crossed we're well on the way to recovery 🙏

Look who came to visit yesterday - Kathy at KB Equine Therapy, Partnership for Performance AKA The Lady With Magic Hands (and longest serving member of Team Chester).

Chester felt so good after his massage that he couldn't stop prancing and twirling his head on our in-hand walk 😅🤪
I felt absolutely shattered when I got back! 🥵

Sound up for a minute of bliss! 😍🤤

Tonight when I got to the stables it was still just about light, the birds were singing and I felt like we needed to escape the barn... So we skipped down to the bottom field together to enjoy a few minutes of peace and tasty spring grass.

I was so spontaneous with our escape that Chester was still in his pyjamas 😂 (which he was reeeeeeally tempted to have a roll in!)
