We have decided on litter names for our Rachel x Blitz Golden Retriever litter! They are the “Soda Pops”.

These babies have grown so much over the first week! We are anxiously waiting for them to grow even more so they are ready to play!

As Rachel’s belly gets bigger and she gets closer to delivering her golden retriever puppies, Clover is more and more by her side. They are the sweetest together! ❤️

1. Must be petting the belly at all times
2. No personal space allowed.
3. Don’t even think about doing yard work.

But really, we are both grateful for the sunshine and snuggles after snow off and on here in Utah for the past 3 days!

We are so excited to announce that Rachel is going to have Blitz babies!

We chose Blitz for this litter because he is basically the perfect dog. 😁 He is a Certified therapy dog who works with children, just like Rachel! (Among many other things that he does like dock diving!) He is the most gentle and easygoing dog who is willing to do anything his people ask him to do! This pairing is going to produce incredible, versatile puppies!

The waitlist will be open once the pregnancy is confirmed via ultrasound mid May and they will be due mid June!

Health testing is so important for you to know about if you plan on getting a puppy! Here are the basics:

According to the GRCA, Golden Retriever parent dogs should be tested for the following diseases before breeding:

-Hip Dysplasia
-Elbow Dysplasia
-Eye Disease
-Heart Disease
-Common genetic diseases including Ichythosis (ICH), Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA or PRCD), Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM), and more.

We test for these because there are high occurrences of the diseases in the breed and with proper breeding practices, we can minimize the risk of a puppy being affected.

A responsible breeder should do at minimum all of the above health tests on their parents dogs and have passing scores before breeding. Ask your breeder about their health testing. A genetic test and vet visit are not enough to prevent diseases getting passed down to your puppy!

There are diseases that we do not yet have adequate tests for and the environment can play a huge factor in proper development of your puppy, so this does not mean that there aren’t still risks; however as breeders we should do all that we can to bring the healthiest animals into the world!

We had our very first agility trials this weekend! Of course we have mounds of learning to do and definitely learned a ton from our first courses! We are so proud of Rach! Rachel isn’t super driven, so agility is a little bit outside of her “comfort zone.” She has been working so hard in training and we couldn’t be happier with how she did this weekend!
