Random life with malamutes update.

I let the girls into the backyard yesterday, then got distracted in the house (dancing with Shoku and organizing). It got dark. I opened the back door and called for the girls.... nothing. No sounds. No pounding of paws. No happy faces as they zoomed into the house.

Uh oh.

I searched for a headlamp (and couldn't find one - where did they all go??), then opened the garage door and called for them again. Still nothing.

After more fruitless looking for a headlamp, I went back to the garage door to ... I don't know... panic I suppose... and WHO WAS THERE?

Sora and Renka both, smelling foul, and panting like they had sprinted a mile. Covered in pokey w**d seeds. I brought them in and instantly regretted it.

Renka had a bath with dawn, hydrogen peroxide, and baking soda at 10:20 pm. That got rid of most of it, though her face still smells. Sora didn't get into whatever it was, but there is a faint odor on her face too.

This morning I went out to the dog yard and looked for the route of escape... and found nothing. No holes, no open gates, no evidence. Now I'm wondering if *I* left the garage door open and they got out that way or if they have learned to scale fences.

Last Saturday Sora and I took a little trip to Milo McIver State park for our malamute club's first Fun Day!

CAMEO had a variety of events, including a mile hike that meet AKC's Fit Dog, intro to Rally, dragging some tires around with a bunch of harnesses that Pull Together K9 brought, Musical Hula Hoops, and a potluck lunch.

Events like these show that with the right pedigrees, puppy rearing, and owners, malamutes CAN do joint activities.

Sora did get to play with her brother Jester, and I got to love on him.

Sora and I went to the Tulip Festival last weekend with our friends Freddie the Beagle and Jenn Michaelis. The flowers were gorgeous, and so many people loved on the dogs. Fred has a professional photo shoot. Sora had me with my phone. :D

I finally got around to update the website with Sora as an adult, with her own page and everything! It needs tweaks, I'd like a different way to display photos than the image carousel, but hey, the page exists now!

Sora (full name Corvus as the Crow Flies) is an endlessly optimistic Alaskan malamute.

We shook off the professionalism at the shows for a long romp today, and the sky was well worth it!

I went 4 miles, who knows how far the dogs traveled!
