Cat’s out of the {𝚕𝚒𝚝𝚝𝚎𝚛} box! 😻😻😻

One of our alum’s, Tabasco, was chosen to be a part of a Litter-Robot by Whisker campaign! Tabasco originally came in as a stray to Morgan County Animal Shelter back in November 2022 and was at risk of euthanasia due to overcrowding. He was severely matted from his outdoor stray lifestyle and was shaven down right after receiving his rescue ride.

This handsome boy has been living the high life ever since and clearly his luxurious hair has grown in better than ever! T̲A̲L̲K̲ A̲B̲O̲U̲T̲ A̲ 𝓰𝓵𝓸𝔀 𝓾𝓹! 💫💅

Emma was with ANLOL for 145 days before she found her home! We are so thankful that Emma found her perfect home. Her mom recently shared this amazing update with us;
“This is my sweet Emma I adopted back in July! She is the best cuddle bug and I don’t know how I ever lived without her. She still a scared baby but now she has me (her mommy) to be by her side and show her the world isn’t such a scary place! She has absolutely loved meeting all my friends and family, even tho babies are really scary but we are warming up to them. We are furever grateful for a new lease on life for helping me find my best friend and Emma a forever snuggle buddy!”

From Birdie’s family:
This is Birdie (formerly Maybelline) who we adopted in Nov 2018. She has the biggest personality of any dog we’ve ever had and she makes us laugh every day. She recently became a big sister in July 2023! I think she was initially adopted by someone else but returned shortly after. Their loss is our gain! If she has any litter mates out there, we’d love to meet them.

We love getting updates where we get to see how ANLOL alumni have blossomed in their homes! Birdie looks like she loves being a big sister💕💕

Onyx (previously Dragon Bait) adopted in September and Apollo (previously Scarecrow) adopted in November have become bestfriends since finding their perfect family! The first picture is of them now, the last two pictures are of them when they first came home.

They look so happy and right at home, we love getting updates, especially when they include adorable kitty cuddles!

Jasper (formerly Derick Shepherd) is doing big things since finding his forever home! Here is an update from his adopter:
This is Jasper, formerly known as Derick Shepard when he was with ANLOL. He had a sister lexi and a brother that we would love to reconnect with. We adopted Jasper sep 2019. He has been the best dog ever. He loves his cat Cali, also a new leash alumni, loves training, is got his canine good citizen title, working on scent work and to be a therapy dog!

Dear A New Leash on Life Friends,

I just wanted to check in and say hello, and let you know that I'm living and loving my best life, when I was a "holiday foster fail" back in December.

Life is good - I think I'm down over 10 pounds (from 87.9 which your records show, to now
74.8)! Don't get me wrong, I still eat like a king, but I am running and jumping and playing like nobody's business, so my svelte figure can show itself.

Although these pics are of me solo, I am completely integrated into my pack of one female Leo (112 pounds) and Louie, another ANLOL alum, who is about 75 and a chow / GP mix. We have fun...

Anyway, just a quick hello and to thank you for all that you did for me... and for others. :)

My story has a happy ending.
I have found my way home…into another happy home, at least.

After 545 days in our care, Iceman (previously Gargamel/Gabe) found the most amazing forever home! His adopter drove from Kentucky to adopt him. She says he is the best big brother to her kitten💕💕

We wanted to share more of sweet Lyric from the video posted earlier. She was adopted the day before Halloween last year and loved her mermaid costume. She is a total snugglebug and doll face ❤️

Sweet Bliss is living the best life! Her adopter is working on her leash skills and she is enjoying hiking with her new mama!

Sugar & Spice we’re 2 of 24 Guinea Pigs saved in July of 2020! They were housed in an outdoor cage and ANLOL teamed up with GHHS to rescue the poor guineas and get them into safer housing. We believe Sugar & Spice we’re among the handful of babies who were just a few days old. These two girls barely weighed 1/4 of a pound!

Fast forward almost 2 years and these girls are living the sweet life! They’re spoiled rotten with a double cage, plush beds, and the freshest of veggies! They’re hilarious and unique looking and we’re so glad to have them in the Alumni Club!

Over the weekend our team held its first Big White Tent Pet Adoption Event since February 2020! We are so excited that we welcomed over 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ of our pets into the 𝙰𝙽𝙻𝙾𝙻 𝙰𝙻𝚄𝙼𝙽𝙸 𝙲𝙻𝚄𝙱!!

Slim Jim has come along way from a street urchin to a somewhat refined gentleman. He has a strong bromance with my hubby, who swore we couldn't have two dogs. Slim proved him wrong. 😂

The gray cat, now named Beans, formerly named Constance and the black cat, Frank, formerly
named Raymond. Adopting them was the best decision I ever made!! Frank and Beans are the new loves of my life and I cannot imagine my life without them. Beans is reserved but is secretly a cuddle bug. Frank is outgoing and vocal and thinks he’s 10 feet tall. 😂

They’re spoiled rotten by only eating the best foods, having a litter robot, and the best pettings/rubbings. They both acclimated to our home so quickly.

Skye, formerly Woolf, was one of six heeler-mix pups turned in with their mama at a shelter when the puppies were just 3-weeks-old.

Skye grew into a gorgeous pup and now gets to go on so many cool adventures with her mama!

Everyone meet Gentry. Gentry was a part of A New Leash on Life several months ago and was adopted out to the most perfect home on 09/19/2021. His adoption though was still only part of this kitten’s long journey to where he is today.

Gentry and his litter of six were turned into Athens-Limestone Animal Shelter in terrible condition. They had been found roadside in Elkmont, AL as strays and the entire litter had broken out in a serious upper respiratory infection. Sadly, Gentry’s litter mates all passed away but he pushed through even though he could barely open his eyes. If it weren’t for ALAS’s April Prater and team, Gentry probably would never have been given a chance and possibly faced euthanasia.

ANLOL took Gentry right away and he went into the home of another amazing woman, Denise Phillips. Like so many other animals that Denise had taken in, she nursed Gentry back to health and gave him a chance. Once Gentry was better and able to show us his true personality, we discovered how shy and scared he was. He went to our lifesaving center to pick up some socializing skills, but he was not thriving there.

Gentry quickly went into a foster home and was individually worked with to increase his confidence and trust in humans. Gentry’s foster mom still believed Gentry needed another cat in the home and a very patient adopter once he was able to be put up for adoption. Who would have knew all he needed was his current dad who is now his best friend.

Gentry is now a healthy confident cat and he brings smiles every day with his happy chirps and strong personality. His new dad has gained Gentry’s trust and continually provides him with the love he needs to keep building his confidence. Gentry, also known as “G”, has come so far from where he first began as a sick kitten clinging to his life. He fought his way through several hurdles and landed right where he was supposed to in the end because he was given the chance to.

Theodore aka Teddy Bear was adopted by my parents and I brought him to Virginia to live with and be spoiled by them. Last week was his 5th birthday. I was lucky enough to have a work trip that brought me near enough to stop in for a visit. We took a long walk together with my dad and then snuggled on the couch. At bedtime, Teddy crawled in with me. Teddy Bear has been a wonderful addition to my parents lives. He is protective of them and rewards their kindness with extra love and snuggles. I can’t wait to visit again. Happy Birthday, Teddy Bear!!! 🐶💚

Nina Simone came to us as a mama dog and as her puppies were adopted out, she quickly let us know she would prefer to be in a single dog household. Single animal households are unicorns in rescue! We so appreciate the adopters who understand and prioritize the needs of an animal, especially when it comes to reactive animals. Nina was loved by our team, her ear-to-ear smile would light up a room and we were heartbroken when weeks turned into months and she still hadn’t found her home.

Finally in February 2019, she hit the jackpot! She was adopted into an amazing family, and..well, we’ll let them provide the next amazing update!

We adopted Marilyn (Mari) from you all back in August. She had just gotten the all clear that she was fully vaxxed and ready to be adopted. Now she is 7 months old and almost 60 pounds! She is the sweetest dog and we love her to death! She lives with three cats and is so gentle and playful with them. When we adopted her, we were told that she was most likely a golden mix. As she gets older and meets more people, everyone is in awe of her golden eyes and tells us they think she may have some Pitt in her. We can’t wait to get her DNA tested. :) but no matter what her results say, she is 100% good dog.

When we had Piggy Stardust back in July 2019, she was terrified of humans! Now named Hershey, she is living the best life with her piggy sister, Snickerdoodle, and her adopted mama has helped us foster more Guinea pigs!

This is Mark. Adopted in 2017 from ANLOL. He spends his days playing with the kids, going on walks, and getting belly rubs. His favorite activity is fishing on the boat.

This is Remy (formally Meg March). I adopted her a little over 2 years ago after her and three litter mates were found on the side of the road. She is now a college graduate from MSU!! We just moved to Charlotte, NC and is loving every bit of it. Forever grateful for Denise for fostering my sweet baby before I took her to her furever home! She is my entire world. ❤️

We celebrated his “gotcha day” on January 2nd and he’s been the best friend since. He loves the dog park, climbing into people’s laps, paddle boarding, and going on hikes! I go to grad school in Michigan and he has been a great study buddy and LOVES the snow too. So grateful to y’all for taking such good care of him and bringing him into my life ❤️

This is Bugsy Malone. We adopted him from ANLOL in August of 2016. We love this dog so much and he has so much love to give. He loves getting in costume and helping us work with children and youth. He has been a pirate, Max (the Grinch’s dog) a super hero, Baby Yoda and much more.

He has such a calming presence that we often take him to work with us as ministers. He can sense when someone needs a little extra love that day. We call him Bugsy the Wonder Dog!
