Aurora earned 4 shiny new CKC titles last year but it’s finally official: Scent detection master, Scent detection container, Scent detection exterior and Scent detection interior

So very proud of Lucy and her mom, who have done classes with me from Intro to Advanced, and have since earned their first Scent Detection title.

Lucy searches confidently, independently, has odour obedience and indicates to her handler where the hide is! 💪🏼

If competitions are something you want to train for, or you enjoy doing searches outdoors, I always recommend to practice in every condition that you might encounter in a competition. I always encourage my students to train in all environments and offer them opportunities to do so.

Dogs have incredible unconscious changes of behaviour and body language when they are on odour, if you just stop and watch.

Here you’ll see some of Lucy’s awesome COB’s while she locates a crack hide.

They can be so intense that her handler has no choice but to drop the leash, or risk Lucy’s legs getting caught in it!

Today we hosted a Mock Trial for students to practice blind hides in a trial environment - and earn ribbons for their successes! We had lots of Qualifying searches and successes but here are the top placements:

So proud of Avery & Siren for earning their SDDA Advanced SP title. They passed all 3 searches on the same day earning the Special designation. (Our club ran out of “special” tabs)

Training Siren is a team effort but seeing Avery get into his first ever dog sport and learn to handle Siren to her full potential and do well makes me so proud. Siren truly loves this sport and searching with her partner.

Not to be outdone by her kid, Aurora competed in her first SDDA games and went 4/4 earning 2 q’s in Aerial search (suspended hides) and 2 q’s in Distance search (she must search and alert away from me while I stay in a marked box). Her total search time between all 4 searches was 2 minutes and 20 seconds.

It is an honour to have this dog at the end of my leash 💜

This one means a lot. My first home bred Whippy to compete with me in Scent Detection. 💕

Lynx showed up for me. knocking out back to back SDDA titles:

3/3 for Started SP title - Gold score - 1st place in all searches and 1st place overall in the working stream
3/3 for Advanced SP title - Gold score
