Max enjoyed a trail ride and some fun in the water at codorus state park today. Such a good boy, leading/ following, passing cars, and even a loud barking dog

Iz has decided it’s time for Max to move on n to his own person. He has been so much fun n to watch and we will definitely miss him!!! He can go in any discipline and do well. Iz has started him on the barrel pattern and he is doing well.

Max made the trip to cpyra youth rodeo yesterday. As you can see he handled the warm up area great. Iz used he in breakaway and he tried his best for his first time.

Enjoyed a nice evening ride with Izzy and Max.

Iz and Max went for a late evening trail ride. I had to text her to head back in. He likes trail riding as much as Iz does.

Max enjoyed a short break after expo and then back to learning. Tonight we tracked and roped the dummy for the first time. Needless to say he handled it like a pro!!! By the end he was automatically stopping when Iz caught amd knew to back up. We still have some obstacles to get over but he has such a good baby brain!!!

So here we are in the home stretch of the rescued to stardom competition. What a fun adventure it’s been watching Izzy and Max together. From a yearling left in a loose lot at New Holland Max has turned out to be such a wonderful pony!!!

This year has been tough for Iz and her training. Not having access to an indoor, being a full time student, participating in high school rodeo, roping, and having full responsibility of evening chores for the rescue there is never enough time. My schedule of working full time has made it hard to help her but we have made the best out of.

Max may not be the fanciest broke pony but this boy has traveled some miles, seen a lot of new places, and tried a lot of new things. Max will struggle at time learning/seeing something new but he is always willing to move forward.

90 days is a short period of time to truly get an equine ready for adoption. Izzy has done a phenomenal job with him and when the time is right she will hand the reins over to a lucky person. Stayed tune as Iz and Max show everyone what they have been working on.

We will be sharing this post and points will be given for likes so please share with your friends and family. Let’s show Iz amd Max that a small rescue/young trainer can accomplish anything they put their heart and mind to!!!!

Max amazes me!! He has never been around any type of working cattle, chutes, or this type of atmosphere. Needless to say he took it all in stride. Notice he is being ridden in a halter and a lead rope

Big thank you to Joe for letting use haul over to ride in the indoor. The weather and horrible footing has really put a damper on Izzy being able to work with Max.

I considered pulling Izzy from the competition, I feel I set her up for failure. This year is tough for so many reasons. I now work full time, Izzy is in school full time, she still has the responsibility of evening feedings when she gets home, rodeos, and not having an indoor to use daily. We’re doing our best trying to haul out but life is just getting in the way.

She has done a remarkable job with Max, trying everything with him you can imagine. Somebody is going to get a really nice all around pony!!!! We are definitely going in this year the least prepared but we will make the best of it!!!

So behind on posting updates on Max because life is just crazy!!! Max has been taking field trips to different arenas and is racking up some hauling miles.

He may not have fancy tricks but he will have traveled several places, learned how to stand tied while his traveling partner is being ridden, and standing at the trailer tied.

Taking Max to get exposure of new surroundings is very important to develop a solid citizen. Izzy is doing a fantastic job bringing him along despite being in school full time/ feeding our rescues every evening.

What better way to see if your 4 year old can handle wind and blowing snow??? Max seems pretty happy to explore the neighbors field.

28/12/2021

Izzy is just getting over flu 😷. Here her assistant trainer noodle is supervising her doing flat work with Max. As you can hear it was really windy and a tad chilly. Always a challenge with weather when we don’t have an indoor to ride in.

Now it’s time to meet Max

This video pretty much sums up Max personality….laid back and easy going. Max prefers a nap in the sun instead of a romp around the paddock.

Max is a 4 yr old Tb/QH cross. He stands right at 14.2 right now. Max was pulled from auction and had not been handled. Izzy wanted a project so we took a chance. Max was a wild child, flipping over when we first tried to halter him to get him out of the auction. He has spent his time at the rescue just learning that people are not bad. He still has his days where his first reaction is to rear and pull away.

Izzy’s long term goal is to make Max a pony that can excel in every aspect. She is working on teaching him under English and western tack. Max seems to just go with the flow at the moment and is up for any type of shenanigans Izzy throws his way.

Welcome to Izzy and Max Rescued to Stardom page.

Let’s first introduce Izzy.
Izzy is a 13 yr old full time student in 8th grade. She currently is participating in Central Pennsylvania Youth Rodeo Association and Maryland High School Rodeo. She also helps her mother care for 25+ horses that are currently in the rescue. This is Izzy’s third year entering this 90 day competition. Izzy is the only youth participant in the competition. She will be up against professional trainers.

Follow along as Izzy takes 4 yr old Max from a pasture pony to an all around riding pony. Max will be available for adoption after the competition is over.
