Working on side passing over a pole
Iz has decided it’s time for Max to move on n to his own person. He has been so much fun n to watch and we will definitely miss him!!! He can go in any discipline and do well. Iz has started him on the barrel pattern and he is doing well.
Max made the trip to cpyra youth rodeo yesterday. As you can see he handled the warm up area great. Iz used he in breakaway and he tried his best for his first time.
Iz and Max went for a late evening trail ride. I had to text her to head back in. He likes trail riding as much as Iz does.
Max enjoyed a short break after expo and then back to learning. Tonight we tracked and roped the dummy for the first time. Needless to say he handled it like a pro!!! By the end he was automatically stopping when Iz caught amd knew to back up. We still have some obstacles to get over but he has such a good baby brain!!!
Today’s lesson…. Patience
Max amazes me!! He has never been around any type of working cattle, chutes, or this type of atmosphere. Needless to say he took it all in stride. Notice he is being ridden in a halter and a lead rope
I think Max will be a nice little English pony but it’s always fun to do a little bit of everything with them. He definitely has more whoa then go!!!
What better way to see if your 4 year old can handle wind and blowing snow??? Max seems pretty happy to explore the neighbors field.
Izzy is just getting over flu 😷. Here her assistant trainer noodle is supervising her doing flat work with Max. As you can hear it was really windy and a tad chilly. Always a challenge with weather when we don’t have an indoor to ride in.
Now it’s time to meet Max
This video pretty much sums up Max personality….laid back and easy going. Max prefers a nap in the sun instead of a romp around the paddock.
Max is a 4 yr old Tb/QH cross. He stands right at 14.2 right now. Max was pulled from auction and had not been handled. Izzy wanted a project so we took a chance. Max was a wild child, flipping over when we first tried to halter him to get him out of the auction. He has spent his time at the rescue just learning that people are not bad. He still has his days where his first reaction is to rear and pull away.
Izzy’s long term goal is to make Max a pony that can excel in every aspect. She is working on teaching him under English and western tack. Max seems to just go with the flow at the moment and is up for any type of shenanigans Izzy throws his way.
