Training in freedom useful as a check!
In the video you see a short clip of shoulder-in with Noa.
For us it is the most difficult exercise in the entire range. Yet it is good for his body.
By asking at liberty I can check whether Noa responds to my primary aid, namely my body language, because that is all I have in freedom.
It is far from perfect (because I also deviate from my line) but he understands what I ask of him and is proud of the result as always 😆

I also practice a bit in freedom with Correza. With this I check if she really understands the exercises, if she really wants to be with me and if she responds to me. I can also see if I can already perform the exercises with fewer aids.

Really good explanation

Riding forward-down is not enough to lift the horse’s back. If we only rely on forward-down to lift the back, then we mainly rely on the nuchal ligament to do this job. The only thing that can lift the chest actively are the hind quarters. And the only reason to teach the horse collection is so that it can lift the chest, raise the withers out of the shoulders and lift the back. So any kind of collection that fails to meet this goal cannot be called collection.
