Sinigurado ng Palasyo na hindi pababayaan ng gobyerno ang mga OFW na inaresto sa Qatar dahil umano sa hindi awtorisadong rally nila noong ika-80 kaarawan ni dating pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

“Noong araw po na ito ay napabalita, agad-agarang po ang embahada natin po ay tumulong po agad. Nagpadala po ng labor attaché, isa din pong lawyer, para po malaman at mapaglaban ang kanilang mga karapatan,” saad ni Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro nitong Lunes, March 31, 2025.

Para kay Castro, obligasyon daw ng pamahalaan na pangalagaan ang mga mamamayan at walang balak na hadlangan ang mga nagkikilos protesta bilang suporta sa mga Duterte.

“Obligasyon pa rin po ng ating pamahalaan, ng administrasyon, ang mga Pilipino ano man po ang kulay nila. Wala po tayong sini-sino, wala po tayong discrimination patungkol po d’yan. Basta po kapwa Pilipino tutulungan po ‘yan ng administrasyon,” dagdag niya.

Vice President Sara Duterte will not be part of former president Rodrigo Duterte’s legal team, according to former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.

In a video posted on his Facebook account, Roque clarified that the Vice President, as an elected public official, is not allowed to practice her profession as a lawyer under the Constitution.

Roque said the Vice President only seeks to be listed as legal counsel to the former president, not to represent her father before the International Criminal Court (ICC), but only so that she becomes closer to him.

As a family member, each visit would necessitate an application and multiple signatures before being granted access. By obtaining accreditation as legal counsel, she would have the right to visit freely without repeated approval processes.

Roque earlier said that he hasn’t been officially recognized by the ICC as a legal counsel for the president yet.

“I’m legal counsel for the president kasi I have given advice to the president on ICC matters, but I have not yet been officially recognized by the court as counsel," he said.

Meanwhile, former Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea said the former president signed a document on his engagement of British-Israeli lawyer Nicholas Kaufman as his defense counsel in the ICC.

Malacañang confirmed on Tuesday the arrest of former president Rodrigo Duterte, after the INTERPOL Manila received the official copy of the warrant of arrest from the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The warrant was served at 9:20 AM as he arrived in Manila from Hong Kong and he is currently under police custody.

“Sa kanyang pagdating, inihain ng Prosecutor General ang ICC notification para sa isang arrest warrant sa dating Pangulo para sa krimen laban sa sangkatauhan,” the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said in a statement.

In an earlier statement, Senator B**g Go said that he brought an ambulance to Ninoy Aquino International Airport as Duterte was set to undergo a medical procedure on Wednesday.
