If this bitch could talk she would tell you a thousand stories about fell sheep.
Her intelligence is her power. She is not registered or even purebred, but she is still well bred.

She is a true shepherds dog and a bitch I will always admire.

Steven has been gathering at Taw House, Eskdale, for the last couple of days ready for lambing time🐏
His dogs with him are Gyp, Fizz and Bryn🐾
Both Gyp and Bryn were bred at Taw House and Fizz’s father, Roo, is litter brother to Bryn so all these dogs go back to Taw House breeding

We have 2 dog pups looking for their forever farm ready to go in a couple of weeks🐾🐑

They are out of my main bitch Doris by Sam Roper’s Roo.

Doris is a ISDS reg daughter of Ricky Hutchinson’s Jock. Very good bitch. Awesome at lambing time. Very natural at the fell gathering and does everything in between.

Sam’s dog Roo was bred here in Eskdale and a very good fell dog with many proven pups. Sam has plenty of videos of Roo and offspring.

These pups will be well suited to hill/fell farming and will need a lot of work.

Joey is looking for a new farm🐾

Coming up 2 year old, ISDS reg by Katy Cropper’s Butch and Joanne Bentham’s Ruby. Very smart dog, easily handled but will suit a quieter handler as he doesn’t like shouting. Never grips. Happy to have a busy day working then have some chilled days around the yard with you. He’s the loveliest companion as well as a worker. Rides on the quad bike and in a gator.

💛Doris appreciation post💛

We’ve had quite a journey together since I bought her almost three years ago when she was 12 months old as my first sheepdog. I’ve trained her myself (in some sort of fashion) and she’s definitely taught me more than I’ve taught her. We had a go at trialling and that didn’t quite go to plan, she took a break from sheep with me and became a very useful cattle dog and now we’re back shepherding together on other farms as well as our own fell farm. She thrives on the fell and will go up any crag and go any distance I need her to without me having to teach her but can still be a tw*t in the field when she wants to be. That being said, she is a brilliant lambing dog.

She is definitely my best friend and I couldn’t do my job without her❤️

Jess is looking for a new farm/small holding🏡
We acquired Jess through unique circumstances and we think she will suit a quiet farm/small holding where she can potter about safely.

She is a very nervous girl but once she trusts you she is very loyal and will follow you everywhere like a shadow!
Jess is very friendly with other dogs and loves to play with them.

Due to her nervousness she must go to an experienced collie home and we will be making sure she goes to the perfect home that will suit her 100%.

Barking doesn’t typically come as standard with a collie but this is one of the most useful things I’ve taught Doris to do at the fell... she’s also learning to back sheep!

Let your dogs do what they love to do so they love their work too🫶🏼

⛰🐾 SCAFELL SHEEPDOGS🐾⛰

Steven and I (Kirsten) will be training, selling and breeding working sheepdogs on our fell farm in Eskdale.

As well as sheepdogs, we have a hefted flock of fell going Herdwicks which graze to the top of Scafell and show at local shows/shepherds meets.
