As many of you know, we will be taking a break from accepting any more bunnies for rescue here (for the foreseeable future) and will therefore no longer be posting.

I absolutely admire any rescues that run for years and years but have quickly realised that now is not the time for us time-wise or financially.

I had always planned to do this on a VERY small scale. Just to change the life of one bunny/two bunnies at a time, but that plan very quickly changed when Meadow arrived pregnant. Although I wouldn’t change our experience, this has meant that our journey has been a lot shorter than intended. We have faced a quick escalation of costs, time and emotional investment, something which we weren’t ready for and simply can’t sustain. It takes a village to run a rescue, and little old me can’t do so alone.

I want to thank all of you that have supported us with donated items, sharing of our posts, financial donations towards the bunnies vet bills and costs. We appreciate you so much.

Murphy and Masters Rescue is now closed.

What a day! ❤️🐰🏡

These two were also adopted today. I will miss them heaps but am so pleased they get to stay together and live out their years as indoor bunnies surrounded with love.

It was a once in a lifetime experience seeing these bunnies born here in rescue. They will always hold a place in my heart because of that.

Good luck Piglet and Pancake 🐷🥞

Ready for adoption!

Piglet and Pancake - Both born in rescue in August are now 8 weeks old.

These two little girls are very much bonded to the other and do everything together.

Both bunnies are vaccinated and have vaccination documents.

They have been handled daily and are extremely friendly and ready for their forever home with a wonderful family.

Conditions of the adoption will require you to spay the sisters when old enough (around 6 months of age).

They will also need accommodation which provides them with enough space. See RWAF guidance. Home visit/set up will need to be shared.

Please contact if you can offer them a loving home.

A minimum donation of £120.00 will be required. Please do not contact if you are unable to donate this amount.

These two lonely buns have now been bonded ready for their forever home in two weeks time ❤️

They fell in love fairly quickly. First meeting was a disaster - speed dating just didn’t work for them and they immediately went into attack mode.

So we reconsidered our approach, they moved into the house in side by side pens, became accustomed to one another before moving in together in a bonding pen. I slept on the sofa for two nights to monitor and have had a camera on them 24/7 but since the very first night there has been no further mounting/chasing/nipping. Only positive signs!

So pleased for these two and long may it continue ❤️❤️

Happy Friday everybody!

Weekly update 🙂🐰

We have some good and some not so good news.

Five of our rescue buns were all vaccinated and health checked.

The vet was not certain on the babies genders so we shall try again in a few weeks time but his predictions so far were:

Pancake (Female)
Pongo (Female)
Piglet (Male)

Simba was given a full bill of health and his age predicted at between 1-2 years. He is reserved and pending a successful bond will go to his new home at the end of October.

Meadow was not so lucky. She has really been let down by humans and this makes me feel so sad. Due to previous owners neglecting to spay her and sending her to us pregnant, she has a large growth on her uterus which is potentially a tumour. Lots of tears have been shed but it should be able to be removed during her spay. Fingers crossed. The vet predicts she is between 5-6 years old. This old lady will not be being rehomed and will spend the rest of her life being loved here ❤️

We have also spent the week building up our new arrival Autumn’s confidence with people. She is a nervous girl but has made such progress in such a short time. She too has been reserved pending a successful bond.

Enjoy our weekly photo dump and have a lovely weekend.

Ps. If you have any items of clothing you wish to donate to our Vinted page please send me a DM.

Hoppy Sunday!

Today was a good day for our lovely Simba. He has been reserved to go and live with two indoor bunnies which are very spoilt and loved.

He will be staying with us for a further month and a half so we don’t have to miss him just yet ❤️🐰

04/09/2023

My wonderful fiancé spent his Sunday building this for our rescues. I really appreciate all that he does for us and the buns. They definitely approve ❤️🐰👍

If you are interested in rehoming any of our buns, please get in contact via direct message and we can discuss the adoption process 🙂

Please be aware that our bunnies will not be rehomed to live alone. You are able to adopt a single bun if they are to be bonded to a bun you already own, or adopt a pair of bunnies.

Woodgreen Pets Charity are offering a free e-learning course accessible through google classroom and in your own time.

If you would like to learn more about appropriate and suitable rabbit care I would definitely recommend this short two hour course. You can also hop in and out of the classroom and break the sessions down to shorter intervals!

I myself am completing the course for a refresher. It is also very useful in learning which plants they can eat something I am never confident enough to forage for myself!

Go and check it out 👍🐰❤️

I have spent this evening updating our Vinted page with lots of lovely items. Here’s the link so that you can take a look 😊

All items have been donated by friends/family/neighbours and people with kind hearts!

The money raised goes directly to caring for the animals so please have a browse and treat yourself to something nice 🙂

Happy shopping ❤️👍

Today has been a complete and utter whirlwind. There have certainly been tears.

Just when you think you are doing a good job and have a potential forever home lined up so that Meadow and Simba can hop on off to happiness… everything crumbles and they can’t (just yet).

Welcome to the world Meadow’s babies.

I know new life is beautiful but I can’t help but feel so disappointed for Meadow and Simba.

- They have now been seperated as Simba is still fertile for a few weeks post-neuter and it is highly likely that he will have already impregnated her again although fingers crossed he hasn’t.

- I have had to postpone their rehoming and I was so disappointed for the buns and their future family

- I return to fundraising with more urgency than I had hoped for

I can’t help but feel so frustrated and sad because sometimes people are just really really s**t. The lady that surrendered Meadow did so knowing that she was lying about her being spayed. All of this could have been avoided!

Animals deserve better.

On a positive - all three kits look really healthy so I will do all that I can to ensure that everything works out for all five of them and will take the positives from the journey along the way. ❤️🐰

Why rabbit rescue over other animals? Why is this where my focus lies?

Here’s why…

🐰 Rabbits are extremely misunderstood and their needs disregarded on such a HUGE scale that it simply has to change. I want to be a part of that change.

🐰I am sure many of you on here have had rabbits as children… Rabbits which lived alone and in a hutch. Rabbits which may have had access to a run when we allowed them to or were given a stroke and some carrots for a treat in the evenings (myself included). This wasn’t because we were mean or didn’t love them… it was because we were completely misinformed and led to believe by the lack of information provided and the sale of small hutches and lone rabbits in pet shops that this was completely adequate for our beloved pets.

As we become more educated on the needs of these amazing animals we realise this is far from adequate and we learn that these animals need more from us.

This isn’t the life we would give a cat or a dog yet so many rabbits have endured this lifestyle.

There is a far greater awareness of how to care for cats and dogs. People know that a dog needs to be walked for exercise and enrichment, vaccinated, socialised and have good quality food etc. and yet rabbits which live for 8-10 years (almost as long as a dog and cat) are not given the same consideration. Why are they deemed less important?

You don’t see cats and dogs sold in pet shops and farming of these animals is completely illegal (rightly so) and yet for rabbits this is still allowed and still happens. Sold in pet shops and bred in back yards to live alone and in a hutch. 8-10 years of isolation and boredom.

We need to do better.

🐰Rabbits need access to space - always. Rabbits need yearly vaccinations. Rabbits need a friend of their own kind. Rabbits need enrichment. Rabbits need a trusting human to feed, clean and care for their health needs. Rabbits need a handful of daily pellets and a shoe box each of good quality hay. Rabbits need daily greens.

In return your rabbits will loaf, binky, zoomie, run to you for attention and thank you in all their silly happy ways.

That’s why I chose to rescue and Rehome rabbits. To support people in providing the right home for these animals and to give them the life they deserve.

❤️

Simba is feeling good and his wound is healing nicely from his neuter on Wednesday. Thank you Windlesham Village Vets.

He has been resting since the procedure but today he has been given a little more space to explore. I am still not encouraging him to overdo it though by limiting his exercise.

Once fully healed he is ready to meet his forever family whoever they may be ❤️👍

Please get in touch if you can offer these two the loving home that they deserve.

Thank you for following and supporting our rescue and rehoming journey 🎉😁 50 followers!

For those of you that are new, we are an independent small animal rescue situated at our family home in Surrey, UK.

We have six of our own pets (two buns, two guineas and two dogs) and absolutely love them to pieces.

Through our small animal rescue we aim to ensure that the animals that are handed to us are loved and cared for and in a position to find their forever home.

As we only started in July 2023 we are still navigating and learning as we go so please be kind, supportive and patient.

There are many ways you can support our journey which do not cost anything such as:

- sharing our page with friends and family
- sharing our rehoming posts
- liking and commenting on each of our posts

Other ways you can support if you are able to:
- donating via our go fund me page
- purchasing items off of our Vinted donated items
- donating newspapers
- donating hay/animal toys/vegetables

Please be aware that the daily animal care, social media, book keeping and fundraising is all done by myself and therefore time is precious but I will always aim to respond as quickly as I can 🙂

Thank you SO much again for your support,

Murphy and Masters Rescue

Today I held my first ever fundraiser in order to raise money for Meadow and Simba 🐰👍

I loaded the car up (with the help of my wonderful fiancé in the pouring rain last night) with all of the donated items from friends, family and neighbours and headed off this morning at 5.30am!

Unfortunately there were a few factors that impacted its success:
1. the weather wasn’t on our side as it was quite drizzly this morning
2. the carboot was very quiet in comparison to normal, only about ten viewers an hour
3. only a 1/3 of the field was set up with sellers.

This meant we came home with a lot of items still…

But nevertheless I raised £91.50! 🎉🎉

Thank you, thank you, thank you. ❤️❤️

*I will be setting up another fundraiser at the end of the summer holidays to sell the remaining items and the rest will be bagged up for the charity shops*

This evening the rescues came in for a pamper session. 💆‍♀️💅They had a lovely brush and their nails were clipped to a reasonable length.

Poor Meadow’s were so long that the nails on her back feet were curling back on themselves. Needless to say she was very content having them chopped off! I am certain that animals know when somebody is trying to help them… she was good as gold 🫶🏻

Simba enjoyed his time indoors too and sprawled himself out in the pen 😊👍

My main reason for posting this really is that Meadow was supposedly “adopted” as a lone rabbit from a rescue centre by the lady that surrendered her. I do not know what centre she was adopted from but I would love to know what their criteria is because she really hasn’t been cared for (arriving underweight and basic needs not met).

I strongly urge rescues to please do their follow up checks because this little lady should not have been adopted by the woman that surrendered her.
